Might set up my own fallen frugaleer thread

Mummyreindeerlegz · 28/11/2016 16:12

£8.99 on dh Christmas book (doughnut by tom holt) and £3.15 on chocolate.

CollieMonster · 28/11/2016 16:23

Just put Heart Xmas radio on. Grin frosty the Snowman la la la la

I'm hoping for a last minute dash to Sainsbos tonight as I need strepsils

mammymammyIRL · 28/11/2016 16:29

After discussions here about laser hair removal treatment I priced it once more, and about six sessions would be required at €99 a session Shock
but on further discussion I discovered that they run half price offer in February. I've got €300 put by for a christmas shopping spree with my cousin which looks unlikely to happen now as she works shifts and I work Mon to Fri, so think I will put this by for laser therapy on my underarms instead [happy]

Also it seems we won't do our work christmas party until January, saving me cost of a babysitter for the night of 23rd and hangover on 24thGrin

Cagliostro · 28/11/2016 16:30

Ooh I can't resist a gift shop, what did you get for £77?!

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/11/2016 16:49

Well done Wreck.

99p on a bucket. I'm brining a chicken in the garage overnight.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/11/2016 16:51

Two of the cups and saucers like in the file £30, two other polar express cups £20, ds got a conductors watch £25 and £2 on souvenir bags, oh it was more as dd got a lanyard for £7. Had to talk ds out of the conductors hat for £17.50 (their money) I paid for the cups.
£5 on burger and chips.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/11/2016 16:52

Dd asked for fricking heelies as she knows I won't buy them. Any recommendations? Size advice?

CremeEggThief · 28/11/2016 17:01

Sounds good fun though, Life and it'll be nice for the kids to have mementoes of the experience.

Spends: £5.95 on a very late lunch of Thai noodles and a cup of lemon and ginger tea; £10.50 on Prosecco and Lindt chocolates for my friend's birthday present and £12.85 on a small top-up shop at Sainsburys, which will keep us going until the weekend, apart from milk.

CathodeRayTube · 28/11/2016 17:04

Fluffy That was the best post ever. What is the chicken doing and why the bucket?

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 28/11/2016 17:18

Apparently if you soak chicken/turkey etc in water, salt, sugar & peppercorns it tastes amazing when you cook it. So it's out there with a plate over the bucket brining away until tomorrow.

I have guests at the weekend expecting early Xmas dinner so I need to make a cheap turkey crown from lidl taste amazing but with no bacon because they don't eat pork. The chickens a test run.

If I don't post on Wednesday you know it didn't go well.

ememem84 · 28/11/2016 18:48

fluffy I've done that! It was amazing. Makes it really noisy.

Picked up laser pen from the post office. Was hoping it was catfood. Came home (after schlepping to the post office) and cat food had been delivered. sigh.

mammymammyIRL · 28/11/2016 18:56

One year fluffy I dh went to great effort & expense to get all the ingredients to do nigellas turkey which was soaked in brine for 24-48 hours. Juniper berries star anise yellow mustard seeds are some that I recall. It didn't make any difference ConfusedHmm

I hope yours works out better

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/11/2016 18:56

Hello you lot have been chatty today Grin still not totally caught up but just wanted to add my tuppence worth re lego! I am with cag that you can't have too much, for me its the whole experience of building a model or kit (being able to follow instructions) and then play with it for a while and eventually it all ends up in the huge lego basket where dd goes to build stuff from her own imagination. She has a few more kits this Christmas, I would buy her more but its sooooooooo expensive Sad

Nsd so far however I have a friend popping over later with a Christmas eve box that she has put together for dd, cost £7.50 and has lots of nice bits in there to enjoy.

Its getting very chilly!

I am Envy at all you who have nearly done your Christmas shopping, I still have lots to do!!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/11/2016 19:00

Life how old is your dd? I debated them for my (10yo) dd but decided against in the end, they just look like a broken bone waiting to happen!!

mammymammyIRL · 28/11/2016 19:08

Thanks for the concern about dh, he was all apologies yesterday but that doesn't take away from the fact that he ruined a nice night away with his episode. He's on nights this week so we will only be contact by text which is ideal really for me as I'm still hurt & cross.

We shopped a bit in boots 3 for 2 & also bought friends dc clothes there. And we made decisions on most other presents.

I shopped on lily O'Brien website today& purchased teacher gifts plus one box for ourselves for Christmas there was 30% off.

My df gave me my Christmas money.

CathodeRayTube · 28/11/2016 19:35

Good luck with the chicken fluffy. I hope it goes well.

Ds has started building his own lego creations tonight. He must have been listening in or something. We had an argument this morning and I banned computer time, and there he suddenly came over all creative and built something from scratch. Woohoo!

I have got come kind of rubbishy gut virus or something, which is inconvenient. Hope it shoves off soon.

Life, here's the link. But mines totally black, and looks much better IRL iyswim? It's very tight fitting so much more slimming than this usual style. I wear sparkly hats in different colours for style injection. Smile If you want company on the 'fallen off the wagon', I will trot obediently behind you to the bench. Think it's that time of year.

www.equiport.co.uk/products/leisure-wear/ladies-casual-jackets/esx-travel-jacket-es05/

Spends today.
£18 M&S.
£15 race entry.
£20 specialist beers for Christmas presents.
£12 on 2 dog leads as one of mine snapped this morning but luckily ddog2 walks to heel with no lead.

I'm off for a long soaky bath as I ache from yesterdays race.

mammymammyIRL · 28/11/2016 19:57

CRT** must be a day for boys being off form ds3 pinch dd6 so hard in the face that he marked her. Then he knocked her over in playroom & started throwing toys at her until she was bawling crying. I've put him to bed early as a punishment & to have 30 mins one to one time with dd.
Might go back to separate bedtimes for a while see how that works out.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/11/2016 20:49

Dd is 9
Thanks need

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/11/2016 22:46

Life let me know how you get on with the heelies as am still debating them for dds bday in Feb if i can't think of anything else Wink they had some nice ones on Amazon....

Cagliostro · 28/11/2016 23:04

Just chucking in my (and DD's!) tuppence worth, rollerblades are WAY cooler Wink :o (possibly cheaper too)

NSD. I have spent much of the day being nervous about tomorrow Hmm

Although I am being much better at checking my bank balance online - but I'm a bit confused as there are no transactions since 25th. But some of the Christmas present orders have arrived and so the money must've been taken - when should that show up?

Tryingtosaveup · 29/11/2016 01:08

I have to chip in on the Lego. Obviously my DCs are grown up and have kids. But they always had Lego as their main toys, in fact I kept some of DS's space Lego and recently gave it to him for his DS.
Over the past few years I have bought loads of Lego. Lots off EBay ( probably from you lot) and lots of new stuff. We ( my DD and I) have a huge log basket of duplo each and large plastic boxes of regular stuff. There is no way you can have too much Lego. There simply isn't. "Too much" and " Lego" just can't be put together.
I have just bought DGS some " sploading cano" Lego for his 4th birthday and he has built it with his Dad and he is so pleased.
They all build the thing according to instructions, play with it and then recycle it as something imaginative.
Just bought some pirate Lego for him last night from eBay. Ordinary pirates not Carribean stuff.
And DGD loves Harry Potter Lego. Both t he pirate Lego and the HP are discontinued so can only get from eBay. DGS also loves the newish sort that is easy build.
Good luck with Housing people Cag. Hope it's successful.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/11/2016 07:10

Good luck today cag

ememem84 · 29/11/2016 07:27

cag good luck today! Xx

Hoping for nsd today. Or if not at least a low spend.

I have woken up feeling a bit meh. Sore throats and feel warm. Going to work because I'm not sick.
