Thank you lilac

Welcome Honey ' twll and duchess. Are you all up to date with switching electric providers and broadband/vt etc? I hate meal planning too but it's cheaper in the long run. Money saving experts weekly newsletter is good this week for new frugaleers.

Welcome back laska.

Did I see Fergus too?

Yesterday was £20, fuel, parking, beer and gravy powder.
Today was £4 artificial flowers in marks
£5 fuel.
£1 Aldi

Applied for another £10 JL voucher today.

Those of you with sewing machines have you seen this site? www.curtainfactoryoutlet.co.uk it looks really good.

AGenie · 07/09/2016 13:13

Thanks wreck. Smile Apparently it's much more common than we'd imagine.

Cag In that case you just need a motor, two pieces of wire, a bulb and a battery. That should be easy to come by at Maplin.

roxannie · 07/09/2016 13:34

Hi frugal people. I would love to join you too. I have recently had a cut in hours so now back to 3 days/week. Have had an expensive summer (1st foreign holiday since DC), plus new school expenses. DS (13) and DD(11) have started going out and about with friends a bit more so needing more money too.
I would like to aim for NSDs when working (except for petrol as drive around for job) and some sort of budget for kids money.
Have not started well as just been to town and bought a cardy in fat face for £35 (including 15% off ) Blush. Shouldn't need anymore clothes now .

SnugglySnerd · 07/09/2016 13:46

Welcome roxannie!

Bit of a spendy week here due to a meal out for my birthday and a poorly cat. He is currently at the vet's having some very expensive blood tests and I suspect there will be some expensive treatment when we get the results.
Haven't even done the shopping yet this week and I think we've spent over £200 already.
I got quite a lot of birthday money including a £100 (yes, £100) John Lewis gift card from my lovely dad. I am trying to decide whether to:
Put it towards baby things e.g. buggy
Save it until after the babies and treat myself to new clothes.
Use it a bit at a time when I need new make up.
Use it to buy a sewing machine.
Put it towards a new tv since we need one.

I am most excited by the sewing machine idea but I am rubbish at sewing. I'd like to learn but worry it will end up gathering dust. Any thoughts?

Well done Genie'sDS BTW, that's great he's made that step.

8FencingWire · 07/09/2016 14:39

Hello all
Spendy day, £54 in Tesco and £49 on a dress that was reduced (for the autumn/winter, it's a heavy cotton, quire simple).
Very naughty!

WreckTangled · 07/09/2016 14:50

27 degrees here. Seems summer is back for the day!

8FencingWire · 07/09/2016 15:06

Isn't it just beautiful?

roxannie · 07/09/2016 15:21

Yes very warm. DD friend coming for tea unexpected so will have to rejig. Was planning on shep pie when DS gets in from cadets but will feed girls sooner to avoid asking for money for shop.

roxannie · 07/09/2016 15:22

Also need £ 20 for guides

WreckTangled · 07/09/2016 15:30

It's lovely Smile

Day two back at school and have had a request for money.

Cagliostro · 07/09/2016 15:48

Skills?!? Errr no I wouldn't say that :o Blush it's very basic at the moment! But one thing I'm really enjoying about home ed is that we are kind of learning stuff together, rather than us teaching them everything, IYSWIM?

Thanks Genie we have everything but the motor already then. :)

Cagliostro · 07/09/2016 16:35

Gosh this week is going to be expensive. £25 for dancing, £25 for Brownies, £80 for trampolining. Ouch.

But DH is running his first sports class soon. Loads of interest, I've had to declare the class full already Shock

Colliefeatures · 07/09/2016 16:45

Omg cag that's amazing! Well done to your DH!!

I did the weekly shop for £65. Delivery was £4. I need to start looking at delivery saver things. My shop included a few one offs. Quite pleased;

Saturday - Pasties
Sunday - Cottage pie
Monday - jacket potatoes
Tuesday - Fish & chips a la freezer
Wednesday - Chilli & lime rice
Thursday - Tuna pasta
Friday - Slag Bol

Sunny here too! It started off cold & misty. I had to get changed. Smile

CremeEggThief · 07/09/2016 16:52

Scorchio oops north. Cag, that's fantastic news about the sports club. Snuggly, sorry to hear about your cat. I hope they figure out the right treatment ASAP. If I were you, I'd keep the voucher for new clothes, after giving birth. I think it's easier to keep vouchers just for yourself, than cash.

Spends: £9.70 travel, £1.34 Tesco (WUL and apples) and £3 on an amazing milkshake.

CremeEggThief · 07/09/2016 17:18

Le yum!

AGenie · 07/09/2016 17:24

Good luck Cag!

We just went to the library to get ds's reading challenge certificate. He was really excited about it and we had a good time. I was really pleased that they ran that. It worked out well for all of us this summer.

SnugglySnerd · 07/09/2016 17:31

That looks very exciting, creme - what is it? I think you are probably right about saving the voucher, I'll be skint on mat leave so it would be nice to treat myself to something then. If we can't afford to eat next year I can always use it in Waitrose Grin

Sierra259 · 07/09/2016 17:43

Hope your poor cat is ok Snuggly and well done to your DH on his sports club cag. I'm also very impressed with yours and genie's electronics know-how. DH asked for a raspberry pi for his birthday - I was very disappointed to discover it wasn't remotely cakey Blush Welcome roxannie and any other newbies I've missed.

Trés spendy day here. £78 for a leg, eyebrow and bikini wax. £10 in Boots but that included some insect bite cream. A bastarding mosquito well and truly devoured me yesterday Angry.

creme, I'm also fascinated by your concoction. What is it?

CremeEggThief · 07/09/2016 17:54

It is the £3 banoffee milkshake I had in town this afternoon. The reason it has a slightly green tinge is they used an under ripe banana, which actually made it quite refreshing!

SnugglySnerd · 07/09/2016 17:55

Thanks, Sierra. Vet cost over £200! Hopefully can claim most of that back from insurance. Hopefully blood results will be back tomorrow.

AdoraBell · 07/09/2016 18:13

£145.30 at vet. Eye drops for 1 dog and deworming for 3 dogs, I already had 1 dose at home.

£2.20 on coffee, vet's is a long walk and it's very humid here

AdoraBell · 07/09/2016 18:15

Forgot to say, substitute items on Sainsbury order were more expensive so they've given me an e-voucher for the difference.

Colliefeatures · 07/09/2016 18:19

Banoffee milkshake? Yum!!

I forgot to say the £65 included delivery.

Ememem84 · 07/09/2016 19:05

£2 on a icecream at lunchtime. Smile

And...I have made an appointment to go and look at a rescue cat on Saturday!!!!!

WreckTangled · 07/09/2016 19:09

Yay em!! Have you told Dh yet??
