Went to s chain reasturant the other day with dh and everything from start to end was rubbish, so I've complained and now been offered a 50£ voucher for the bad experience. Dh is so f.... with them that he rather wants us trying to sell it...

WreckTangled · 19/09/2016 16:23

Just posted on the wrong thread Blush

Roast chicken for dinner here.

A new Iceland warehouse has opened up does anyone know if they're any good?

Collieballs · 19/09/2016 17:01

Got the house. Now it's a race against time. The Conveyancing fees are eye watering but it should be completed within 5 weeks. I'm actually terrified everything will fall through.
I'm a bit of a nervous wreck with excitement and worry. Better get packing! Omg

Ememem84 · 19/09/2016 17:30

Omg!! collie exciting!!!! Congratulations!!!!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/09/2016 17:58

Yay Collie thats fab news Smile congrats!!

Thanks for the heads up on the TU sale, need to get dd some Autumn/Winter bits. Cag my dd is the same, she hates anything pink and glittery and also had sensory issues with clothes (tactile defensiveness I think is the technical term!) My dd won't even wear leggings, so the choices are soft joggers and those sort of baggy loose (hareem?) trousers.

NSD today.

Dd is seriously knackered after her big day out ystd so going to be a quiet evening and early night for her!!

Mummyshortlegz · 19/09/2016 18:02

Yay collie!!!!

ItalianWiking84 · 19/09/2016 18:18

Congrats collie

Cagliostro · 19/09/2016 18:37

YAY Collie wonderful news :)
Come join us on the September Fledgling thread (on the housekeeping board) if you want some support with all the packing/decluttering/cleaning and all that stuff.

Thanks Girlie I hadn't heard that term before. DD hates certain textures as well, she would cry if made to touch a dry towel or certain types of paper for example. It's wearing to say the least isn't it! Re: the 'girlie' type stuff she is in the middle I guess - she loves dresses and skirts too, but she's starting to get really aware of and annoyed by the sort of casual everyday sexism that is often seen on clothes and toys, like 'pretty' slogans on t-shirts and when things like science kits are advertised with boys only. But I'm also wary of her ending up thinking that anything 'girlie' is bad IYSWIM? It's a weird balancing act, this parenting lark. We can only hope they grow up comfortable in their own skin I guess. :)

Sierra259 · 19/09/2016 18:41

I bought dc toucan boxes well ordered free box + £1 for second box so just paid postage, will cancel before it renews in a fortnight. Does anyone know if they're any good? Most things are out of the question for us due to postage cost to Ireland.

Collie yeah whoop whoop.

£17 sainsburys sigh got drawn in by reduced kitchen stuff

AGenie · 19/09/2016 19:38

Great news Collie! Well done.

Our school mentioned this thing called Time Credits today and I wondered what you'd all think of it. www.justaddspice.org/get-involved/get-started-with-time-credits

It's a scheme where the school can give a special token to parents in return for 1 hour of voluntary work. The token can be exchanged for days out, e.g. one swimming ticket or one ticket into a big museum in London, or similar.

Looking at the things available locally here, it would effectively be 1 hour of work swapped for one £4.40 swimming ticket.

I wondered what you would all think of that? Asking around my RL friends it seems to appeal to people who are on benefits and can't work because of caring responsibilities or a disability or illness, but who could do maybe do 1 hour a week of gardening or listening to a child read.

I'd really be interested to know what you think of it.

Collieballs · 19/09/2016 19:47

Thanks! Someone's buying our house and they're in a hurry to complete too!

It's all gone a bit mad.

cag thank you! I might check out the thread. I definitely need advice.

Ememem84 · 19/09/2016 20:01

I still feel a bit wiped out but no longer feel sick. Dh made grilled chicken sweet potato and cloleaw for dinner. Yummm

Mummyshortlegz · 19/09/2016 20:05

Toucan boxes have been well received here. Ds1 really enjoyed the freebie but I can't justify the cost of continuing.

allthebestplease · 19/09/2016 20:06

wreck the buzz in teaching at the moment is to ensure children comprehend the book and to not just be able to decode and decipher words. So as your daughter can easily discuss the plot, characters and infer ideas about the language, then if she wants to read it all and discuss it and make suggestions about the author's intentions, good for her. The Teacher should encourage her. Ask the teacher for a list of Guided Reading questions so you can support discussion at home. Then just let her read because she enjoys it, that should be encouraged.

AGenie · 19/09/2016 20:09

Allthebest I can understand why they are really interested in comprehension because I am one of the people who can read really fast, but can't understand or remember what I've read, especially if someone is watching me. I routinely get to the end of ds's bedtime stories and realise I have no idea what it was about.

wreck if your dd can read fast and understand and remember then that note from her teacher must be really annoying. Sorry to hear about that. My ds also read like the clappers, lucky fellow.

WreckTangled · 19/09/2016 20:12

allthebest I've just googled guided reading questions and I'm going to print some out, thank you Smile

AGenie I'm just so pissed off that they're not encouraging her. She's an awesome reader they should be saying 'that's fabulous! Here's some questions for mummy to ask you about your books whilst you're reading them, keep up to good work!' Not 'stop reading so much'. Dicks.

AGenie · 19/09/2016 20:20

Yes I totally understand Wreck. It does daft.

lilacclery · 19/09/2016 20:29

I love the idea of a box coming each month which is a complete surprise to us kind of like a grown up lucky bag there are some cool ones like curry club or recipe box ones but like you mummy i can't justify the cost & the postage makes them extremely costly too.

8FencingWire · 19/09/2016 20:32

collie, how fab! Hope it all goes smoothly!
NSD here.
Spent £32 in m&s yesterday on underwear and spare school shirts for DD, plus £6.99 on a lunch box for her. But I had £14 in m&s vouchers and £25 in love2shop vouchers. The lunch box was £9.99 but I had a 25%reduction, so in effect I only spent £6.99 on all that.

I am going to try and have an NSD every day this week.

lilacclery · 19/09/2016 20:52

Any ideas for a 90th birthday present? It's for my Nan. I've already done the 4 generations pictures with her, my mother & my dd.
