Just had a play with the mortgage repayment calculator. We will save £82k in interest and will repay 6 years 3 month early. It's a no brainier. Especially given savings rates are so awful.

I want to watch EWFL. But Dh is "watching" sleeping through the last ship.

I've done all my chores. And am Making lists of things I "need" for Autumn/winter. So far:

Tights

CremeEggThief · 22/08/2016 20:58

Em, have you seen the what people want for Autumn and Winter thread on Style and Beauty?

What an amazing saving. Mind boggling really.

Colliefeatures · 22/08/2016 21:08

I'm watching EWFL. It's the first time I've ever watched it! BlushShock

Oooh I'm too excited about Autumnal clothes. I need new everything as I've lost a dress size. I want dresses, tights, chunky cardigans, a big tartan blanket scarf, black or berry jeggings and a bobble hat. Grin and a winter wetsuit!

Ememem84 · 22/08/2016 21:08

creme yes I've had a squizzy at that one. Sadly I now want everything on it.

Am trying to separate wants and needs. I tights. I want boots and a new hat and a coat and a grey cashmere jumper.

Actually I could do with a smart black coat...

Colliefeatures · 22/08/2016 21:25

Em I buy my tights in the Next sale. They have them in the sale/clearance all year round. I got my lovely knitted tights for £2 a month ago. Smile

Mummyshortlegz · 22/08/2016 21:26

I've never thought of next for tights. I'll keep an eye out.

Ememem84 · 22/08/2016 21:29

Me neither! Thanks collie I'll have a look.

I bought some in new look last year. But not black. And it's black I need. Red/purple/grey I have. But not black Sad

Colliefeatures · 22/08/2016 21:32

Just checked! They've got some tights left in their clearance online ranging from £2-£4 ish. (depending on size / colour and material obviously)

Mummyshortlegz · 22/08/2016 21:40

Excellent. £21 for 7 pairs. Thank you!!

Tryingtosaveup · 22/08/2016 21:40

Speedy day here but all necessary.
Haircut £16
Jam sugar 3 bags at tesco £6.24 but have claimed from cashback. Thanks for the tip.
£40 diesel
I have registered for checkoutsmart a few weeks ago but not used it. Did it just now for the first time. It was one of my August frugal goals, so feel proud of myself( how sad is that!)
Cag, I took my DGD for a week to Lyme Regis last summer and she said it was the best holiday ever. They do fossil walks every day (depending on the tides) and she found lots of stuff, mainly ammonites and belamites. She also loves Mary Anning. The little museum is great. We had to go 3 times. We also found her grave in the little church yard.
Brilliant place for fossil loving kids.
Yesterday I started overpaying my mortgage by £100 a month. It will be tight as I am trying to do so much work on the house. Well worth it though. Like Em I used the mortgage overpayment calculator ( I used the one on MSE) ...totally worth it.

Cagliostro · 22/08/2016 21:54

Sounds perfect! Tricky to get there by public transport I think, but I'll look into it :)

Had a weird text from plusnet saying my broadband order had gone through?! I renewed the contract a couple of months ago and the repairs were done before that. Will phone tomorrow.

Anyone seen any decent t-shirt/shorts pyjamas for children? Of course it's all winter stuff at the moment Hmm DD does need some though. Preferably dinosaurs, so we are mostly looking in the boys sections, but not seen anything yet (Asda have some with a nice design - and I think I found the onesie I'll get her for Christmas - but again, they are warm ones, and DD gets hot enough at night as it is)

DH spent a fair bit today, he got a new inner tube for DS' bike, and various presents for upcoming parties/party bags/Christmas, in Sainsburys sale. Pleased as we would've got those things at some point anyway but discounts were big.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/08/2016 22:25

£82K saved in interest, that's fantastic.

Turns out you can get free jam sugar on checkoutsmart from waitrose. I'll never mention it again, even I'm bored now.

I joined valued opinions tonight, £3ish made in surveys. They pay out in John Lewis vouchers and I need £120 to finish the lounge. I probably could have got cashback for joining. I'll join Dh up to make use of that.

Lyme Regis sounds great, I'd love to find a fossil.

Tryingtosaveup · 22/08/2016 22:28

I am trying to get car insurance through top cashback but it says I have to put my BACS details in before I can earn the cash back. Do you all do this? Is it secure?

honeysucklejasmine · 22/08/2016 22:44

Evening. Did my weekly shop: £53, for 7 dinners, lunches and breakfasts. Having more veggie meals really helps!

8FencingWire · 22/08/2016 23:38

Very spendy day here: £75 in pets at home to kit the kitten. Love him, he's very good. Came so covered in fleas and is very skinny, but I spent a lot of time brushing the fleas out (I treated him, as well) and I bought really nice food, treatments, litter box, lots of toys for him etc.
So yeah, I've got another child now. But he's worth it.
Nipped into Lidl for some food, they had these little chests of drawers and I needed one. All in all, £50 in Iid as well.
Budgeted for, but I paid for the shutters as well. you don't want to know how much I paid for that. It's BAD! But they'll be there for a lifetime and I got a discount. Still mad though.

I need light shades for hallway and DD's room, some candles, some frames and a kallax unit from ikea.
And then I must must must stop spending or I'll get into debt.
Income this month shoud be about £2500. Outgoings £1600. I must save the rest.

I've done my wardrobe, all pretty. But I wear an awful lot of black and navy. Too much.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/08/2016 06:34

Trying Yes it's secure.

8 That poor kitten, fleas are serious for kittens. I hope he recovers. Poor wee mite.

Ememem84 · 23/08/2016 07:08

Shoukd be LSD today. New gym card is the only thing on the list. Although will call my usual gym first thing (I can use one of 3 but need to go to a different one to sort my membership) to see if I maybe left my card there...

Apparently it's going to get to about 30 degrees here today ☀️☀️☀️☀️ But I'm indoors all day 😭😭

Spoke to HSBC yesterday re my credit card. It expires end of August. The new one takes between 7-10 working days to get to me. They posted it yesterday. So in theory I could be without card for a few days. More of an annoyance than anything. Old card is safely locked in a drawer again.

Colliefeatures · 23/08/2016 08:50

A NSD here. It's really hard to have a no spend week. I'm feeling really stressed out and anxious and I just want to splurge! Like, a new laptop kinda splurge. We saved up for a laptop but am too clingy to the money to actually spend it. Blush

8FencingWire · 23/08/2016 09:05

Fluffy, why are fleas serious in kittens?(I grew up on a farm, the things had fleas on them since day one). His coat is looking so much nicer, it had tonnes for flea poo on him. I've taken time off and all I do is attend to both my children nowGrin, one with headlice the other with fleas! Nice!it's hard, I know one of my DD's friends has headlice all the time and every time she comes for a sleepover my DD gets them, but I can't say no, it's not the kid's fault. From september they won't be at the same school and we have moved town too. Like I said, hard.
Should be NDS today.

SnugglySnerd · 23/08/2016 09:17

Aw I hope your lovely kitten is ok. Any chance of a kitten photo??

DH has seen a house for sale, local area, much bigger than our house with a loft conversion, utility, dining room etc. It would be perfect for us but it needs a lot of work - whole place needs decorating, kitchen needs ripping out and replacing, there are wires hanging out of the ceilings. We are notoriously useless at any type of DIY so while we could afford the house I don't know if we could also afford to do all the work. Plus our house would need a bit of sprucing up to sell it. Not sure whether to arrange a viewing or whether that is just madness!

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/08/2016 09:22

8 They have smaller volumes of blood so a big infestation can make them anaemic.

Snug Sounds very exciting but rather daunting too.

Colliefeatures · 23/08/2016 09:25

snuggly there's no harm in arranging a viewing! We're currently selling up. I totally regret choosing space over location. Sad a costly mistake!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/08/2016 09:35

Both my cats came as flea infested kittens, have you treated them with stuff from the vets? I didn't find anything over the counter worked, we use Advocate now which does the trick. Kittens can die from being infested with fleas Sad don't know if you saw my earlier post but signing up to a pet plan with the vets works out good value (£10 a month and includes prescription flea treatment, worming and annual booster.) Plus get him insured asap, I would be bankrupt now if it wasn't for my cats insurance!

And yes a pic is mandatory Wink

Collie if its stressing you out its o.kay to crack a little bit! I couldn't do a NSW without feeling pretty hard done by, so you have to weigh up the pros and cons, life is short and all that! Even a small spend on a coffee and cake at a local cafe can feel like a lovely treat Smile plus sounds like you have had a few health type issues going on so you def need to look after yourself.

SnugglySnerd · 23/08/2016 09:36

I must admit I would love to basically start from scratch with a house and have everything exactly how we want it.

honeysucklejasmine · 23/08/2016 09:50

I am going to have a speedy day today. £8 at the salon for an eyebrow wax (I am awful at doing it myself) and lunch with baby group ladies. Plus side is we are going to the farm I have a pass to, so that will keep costs down.
