wreck if you had a mortgage big enough for a beach hut here you'd be ok. One near where I had breakfast this morning sold a couple of years ago for £350k.....

WreckTangled · 31/07/2016 19:02

Em I think they're about 25k here!

I know you're right fluffy. I suppose my life is better down here without a house than it would be up north with a house Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/07/2016 19:23

My gag gas my purse, phone, a pen and a couple of decaf teabags for everyday. My work bag has these plus my diary and pass, deodorant, sanpro. That is all

Ah wreck sorry you are feeling down about a house. I do hope it works out for you eventually but prices are bonkers.
Money does just seem to vanish. I need to get back to writing everything down. Will begin tomorrow

Ememem84 · 31/07/2016 19:30

wreck to put it into perspective the beach huts where I was today are probably big enough to fit a double bed and a kitchen. And the house up the top of the hill from them sold last year for £9.7million. For a 4 bed house. on the coast with uninterrupted views of the French coast and a pool and a games room and oodles of land

He's slowly becoming a lap cat...

trying no one said that there was any harm in eBay but you can't force sellers to ship here and for now there is no Danish Amazon or eBay. It's defn not the state that's against or not following eu trading but goods from outside of Europe gets taxed in Denmark and that's fully legal and most Amazon sellers who actually wants to ship to here are from USA or China.
Honestly I don't miss Amazon and have never used eBay myself. We have Amazon.de where the stock is smaller but most ships to the border.

ursula we have big prams because our kids sleeps outside in them until they stop with naps so they tend to be at least 93 cm long, preferably a bit longer. And yeah we also let them sleep outside shops, cafes ect while we go in. They are of course covered so they can sleep safety during winter...

I don't use a handbag at the moment, I just have the nursing bag which is full of crap or dds fjallraven for short trips.

Colliefeatures · 31/07/2016 20:55

Just checked my credit score for the first time in 1.5 yrs and it is bloody brilliant. Grin I'm very happy! DHs isn't so good but he's had loads of "searches" and we can't figure out why. :\ oh well. Time will sort that out.

SnugglySnerd · 31/07/2016 21:14

Aw wreck he's beautiful. All your clothes will be ruined! I have special oldtrousers that I wear to watch tv because snugglycat is so furry.
Managed to cobble together £27 in our loose change tin - should pay for a few ice creams next week!

Ememem84 · 31/07/2016 21:47

Ok. So it's August eve.

My August resolutions are:

3 nsds a week.
Lunch for work at least 4 times a week
Claw back all the money I can from insurances/expenses etc
Eat better
Move more
Be more chill (I'm sure stressing about things that may/may not happen is not helping my physical health and not helping me shake off my sinus thing Eugh)

I have a week of work. Then holibobs. Yippee!!

Whataboutwhathuh · 31/07/2016 21:50

Just realised its a five week month. Trying to work out how to make my shopping budget stretch with it being the holidays. I'll be trying to spend £30 each week instead of £40 I think. Definitely be trying to stay local this week to make the fuel go a bit further. It reminds me I need to budget for five week months not four in YNAB so I don't have months where I worry about this.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 31/07/2016 22:12

Wreck that cat is so beautiful! Do they do any shared ownership type schemes where you live? Its the only way I have been able to get into this property game. I guess you would still need a deposit but not as much as if you were to buy on the open market.....

My cats have just about recovered from the trauma of the move! The first week we moved both of them really struggled, not helped by their various health problems. Think they like it here now though especially the garden Smile

Tryingtosaveup · 31/07/2016 23:29

Girlie, I just read that as shared ownership of the lovely cat! 😧
Then I realised!
Thanks for the info about first direct and the 123 account. I think I will open the 123 as the main account. No, I will look into both of them and also see if I can go through some cash back sites...I didn't know you could do that. The trouble is I live on my own and am quite frugal so my bill, except my mortgage, are small.
Italian, sorry if you thought I was being offensive about Denmark and eBay. I didn't intend to be. I was just astonished. I jumped to the wrong conclusion and thought it was banned.

SnugglySnerd · 01/08/2016 06:42

Small supermarket trip planned this morning to get a few bits for our holiday. We are camping so will buy food daily after the first day. Have our mortgage appointment this afternoon.
DD got me up at 5.45 I'm still half asleep. Are Gro clocks any good does anyone know?

WreckTangled · 01/08/2016 06:47

They do girlie but you have to earn a minimum of £40k. I suppose it's still a possibility once the dc are older and I can work more, I'm only 29 so still time I guess?

Not sure what to do with the dc today. Dd wants to go to London or Portsmouth Hmm but I told her I'm not made of money! I might try for no spend Monday..!

Ursulatodd · 01/08/2016 07:46

'August Eve'! Love that! I especially get resolution-y (and want new stationary!) around September Eve!

What it does seem unfair to lump us with a 5 week month over the holidays. One of my aims is to sell some crap stuff over the month to cover week 5. I also need to think of more cheap meals - im doing toad in the hole this week for the first time.

Snuggly have a great time camping Smile good idea to buy food each day.

Wreck £40k for shared ownership Shock

I wish I could do NSMonday today but I have to do food shopping, promised DD is take her to the cafe (will try to keep under £5), and as its beginning of the month I'm going to buy a couple of Christmas presents to spread the cost.

Colliefeatures · 01/08/2016 08:51

A minimum of £40k? Shock luckily we have quite a few shared ownership providers all with different criteria in Cornwall. Some of the schemes are not actually affordable though.

Beautiful car wreck

NSD day today. Had to pay for car tax yesterday which was £30 and then annual membership to a local museum which was £22. So yesterday's NSD was a complete fail. Blush

I also didn't realise that this month was a 5 weeker.

I feel deflated and defeated. Lol!

Colliefeatures · 01/08/2016 08:51

Cat! Not car! X

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/08/2016 09:21

5 weeks gah. Will have to re budget.
£40k earnings is madness for shared ownership unless it's something as a joint income but not everyone can do that.
Small shop planned for treat stuff as dc away. Need a prescription too £8.40

lilacclery · 01/08/2016 09:23

I must be the only one happy with a 5 week month here, I get paid weekly & I want to try out budgeting my bills based on 4 pay checks & try use the last one to pay down extra money off debt!

SnugglySnerd · 01/08/2016 10:59

Just spent £114 in Asda, not a good start to the week. DH and is both got nee shorts and we got a few buts for camping like a small non stick frying pan plus some cleaning stuff we'd run out of.

WreckTangled · 01/08/2016 11:18

Well I spent £11 in boots. Dd needed shampoo, conditioner and detangler. My cheap shampoo isn't doing her hair any good. Also bought her some pink hair dye and we will dye the ends this afternoon then they can be cut off the day before school Smile

ItalianWiking84 · 01/08/2016 12:03

trying that's okay, Smile nope not banned at all just don't think the market is for it right now, perhaps in the future.
wreck what's wrong with pink hair in school?
Very very spendy day Shock but all budget for, 45£ for paint for dd room, it's going to be pink shadow, and 100£ for the stuff to get all wall paper down new up ect, aws. But we need it would roughly be that and she's going to get a really cool toddler room Smile

WreckTangled · 01/08/2016 12:10

Italian at schools here you aren't allowed to have your hair dyed unnatural colours. Or any crazy hair cuts.
