I took the liberty as we were nearly at the end of the last one.

£10 up from fb selling site.

CremeEggThief · 19/05/2016 18:21

Here is my meal plan, subject to swapping days around. It's a combination of what we has in and what the food delivery brought.
Today: veggie burgers and oven chips and salad.
Tomorrow: Quorn and vegetable stirfry.
Saturday: pizza.
Sunday : feta and walnut nut roast, new potatoes and frozen vegetables.
Monday: pasta and pesto, with avocado, olives and hardboiled eggs.
Tuesday: jacket potatoes with cheese and coleslaw for me and cheese and pesto for DS.
Wednesday: falafel, houmous, olives, pitta and salad.
Thursday: mushroom, potato and onion frittata with salad.

I'm going to make a potato salad with a mixture of natural yogurt and coleslaw for some lunches next week, with green salad, baby beetroot and possibly hard boiled eggs.

WreckTangled · 19/05/2016 18:51

I just stubbed my little toe on ds's bed and it hurt so much I cried! Which is odd as I have severe loss of sensation in my feet Hmm it's still throbbing but I'm icing it.

babsmam · 19/05/2016 19:01

Ouch wreck.
£15 on cake topper.

Day from hell, didn't have time to shop

Not broken is it?. Even neuropathic patients can tell severe infection or a fracture.

ipsos I am private. It's no better than NHS really. I just don't to do it anymore but I need it to fund my nail tech training.

WreckTangled · 19/05/2016 19:34

I don't think so fluffy. It's gently throbbing now I haven't moved it though (can't move it on its own anyway) and don't want to wiggle it in case there is something wrong!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/05/2016 20:48

Eek Wreck you might have to get that x.rayed, I once stubbed my little toe on the corner of a door and it hurt so much I lay on the floor and cried Blush I once had a patient who was so neuropathic that he didn't realise there was a nail in his foot until he couldn't get his shoe off Shock

Thank you for the nice comments earlier Fluffy that made me feel better Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2016 20:56

I had a patient who walked on a broken fibula for three weeks Grin

He had RhA & said a bit more pain didn't really register.

Dh trod on a BBQ charcoal lump last week. After telling me not to tread on it. Just what I needed Hmm what with the diabetes and all. I have banned him from the BBQ, clearly I'm the only sensible adult in the house.

creme I think that about jsa too, life's not your own. Have you got admin qualifications then? Got to be less stressful than teaching.

WreckTangled · 19/05/2016 21:10

Oh no! I know they say there's nothing new they can do about broken toes. I'll see how it looks in the morning, I would only worry that because I have no feeling I could be doing some harm if it is damaged.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2016 21:13

I broke my big toe three years ago, it's ok but I expect it will get OA changes when I'm older.

Better a toe than a neck.

Whataboutwhathuh · 19/05/2016 21:20

I have X-rayed dozens of people that have walked on broken fibulas for weeks, one of those bones! If your toe doesn't look deformed and is warm etc then I'd buddy strap it and keep an eye on it.

Went to aldi and got four big bags of shopping for £25. Very happy with that!

Ememem84 · 19/05/2016 21:45

I had no idea so many of you were in health care. Great job you guys!! Doing worthwhile jobs unlike me who just keeps the rich richer

I had dreams of being a nail technician. But people have told me the course is super hard. (I just figured it was painting nails....I was wrong). My nail lady studied beauty and business and is part time studying to be an accountant. She wanted to work for herself so is doing it all.

I sometimes wish I did something different. There are days when I just wish I could work at the stables (sunny days only...!) or just have a non stress job. And other days where I realise that I'm lucky. Have worked hard and wouldn't have the life I have without my job. Smile

ipsos I am literally the worst at food shopping. I can go with a list. Buy everything on it. And about a million other things that take my fancy. Terrible. Also I pack the shopping wrong (according to Dh). So I'm pretty much banned. Or if I am allowed to go with him I just get to push the trolley.

We have a problem here. Dh has been so stressed with work recently the past few months he has been thrashing about in his sleep. And has been hitting:kicking me while he's asleep. And sometimes waking me up.

I have two super good bruises. One on my leg and one on my side. I was tempted to smother him wake him up to talk it through last night but didn't. Anyone dealt with this? Other than sleep in the spare room any advice? We talk about his work stress when we're awake but obviously can't do while we're sleeping.

As a result of being woken up I'm tired more and have been going to bed early. So I can at least get some undisturbed sleep.

Laska5772 · 19/05/2016 21:49

Thanks all for the re-welcomes !
I really do need to catch up , and as usual I wont be back here until Sunday I expect . This thread moves so fast , but its great to see how popular it still is andthat we are all still frugalling ..

I had some frugal wins today :
Got a Big tube of Dr Ceutical’s Body lotion ( its great and usually £19.99 in Boots ) for £4.99 in Tk Maxx.
Also a Principles cardi, a brand new Next t shirt and a Wallis top in the charity shop - £2 each! (all exactly what I wanted, and I had nearly bought an almost identical cardi and top in H&M earlier , but frugalled out! )

Then my work colleague gave me a big bag of rocket and another of basil , she had bought lunchtime and had then decided she wasn’t going to use them ! ( so I had MNetted cold chicken and rocket salad for dinner, Ill use the basil tomorrow ) She also gave me a Morrisons £5 voucher she said she wouldn’t use (so ill probably spend that on Wine tomorrow!

Oh, and I put £2 in a collection.. pretty good day

So looking back ..

Northender . I was doing the Michael Mosley Blood sugar diet , It worked really well for me , I’m wasn’t pre-diabetic but certainly ‘apple shaped and at my age , they say its really not good to be .. the BSD has really helped reduce the tummy, so really pleased.. I’m quite happy with my weight now , but am trying to get a few more lbs off at the moment ( so I can put it back on , during my holiday in a few weeks!!)

Girlie Great news about the house ! Is this still the shared ownership one or did you go for another? you'll be fine, dont worry, it will be so great to have your own place, with a garden.. I was a single parent housebuyer also , and I really had to start changing when I remarried! (was used to doing things all my way , and then realised I had to discuss things like furniture and decorating colours with him also .. was a bit of a shock!!Grin)

wreck yes E is 3mths! (I had to go check again ), she was born early February ( and a bit premature though so she is like a 2 month baby really I suppose ) . Those 3 months have flashed by! , but we are so glad that the prognosis is really positive now ..

ipsos Re treating yourself. and frugalling.. One thing I found after finally paying off the credit card debt (which I had when I started on this thread about 18mths ago ) , is all of a sudden I could buy some things .. (just as long as I didn’t put them on any credit card!) .. It did seem strange at the time , but now I have started to trust myself to use a credit card again , but I do make sure I pay it off in full every month.. If I cant.. I don’t buy it!. I now have savings too.. and this last year is the first time I have ever had money in the bank since I was an adult !.. and Yes, it’s not a lot (under £1000) , but I do add to it every month now even if its only a small bit .. ( WOW ...actual savings , Me !?!.. )

Lila it’s a Honda Civic Tourer.. not flash but just the sort of car we need , for what we do .. ( it's Dhs car really and he paid for it too, even though its me that drives it! Grin. We do only have the one car though. (DH is still working away during the week and doesn’t need a car where he is.) .. Its great though, no tax , had 4 years free services and , really measly on fuel.. (as well as being pretty, did I mention it was metallic red? Grin) I am so pleased with it. ooh and it has a DAB radio too!!!

As for YNAB.. I love it also ,and I have it all set up for how I use it but I am going to have to change it a bit because , (another first for me) I have just opened a joint bank account with DH (we’ve only been together 23 years!!) . I’ve never had a joint account with anyone before .. It will be fine though , he is the sensible finance one of us two , but this is a ‘household account’ where we will both put in the same amount each month and it will be me probably who will be using it most . . This is because if any of you remember , he is planning to retire early ( well he’s been saying this for two years now, I’m sure it will happen soon ) . Anyway I’m going to have to learn to add another YNAB account (I’m sure I can work it out though) .

blueteapot · 19/05/2016 22:03

Evening all!

Yes to NHS / medical job dissatisfaction, a lot of people I know from different specialities are cutting back hours or leaving, I think its a sign of the times! I know my DH was on JSA for 6 months when we moved back here, he left his job to follow mine. He claimed it because he didnt want to feel he wasnt contributing but TBH I didnt expect him to claim it as we had taken him not working into account - in the end money is money and it was useful but there was definitely a lot of hoop jumping involved. Fingers crossed creme that something comes up for you soon, I'm sorry you feel disheartened at the moment. Fluffy, good luck with with your change of career :)

I miss the daisy DW powder. Forgot to get dishwasher tabs earlier at tesco, thanks for reminding me! The powder never seemed to run out.

Grocery shopping £46 today in Tesco, but I also got £30 worth of summer clothes in the boost event and used a few vouchers for extra points, money off, that kind of thing. Was then able to claim an extra £1.75 from shopitize (every little helps!). We dont shop much at tescos any more but as I was in for the boost clothes I thought we'd do it this week. £4 in poundshop on bin bags etc. Also used boots points to get a freebie £24 beach cover up thing which will be lovely for our holiday so I was chuffed with that. Love a freebie :) the free priority moments shower gel is still on there, picked one up yesterday!

Today we made scotch pancakes for breakfast, bit of a freezer dive for lunch (fish fingers and waffles!), and DM did our tea which was lovely but DS threw up at the table (has issues with a strong gag reflex!!).

8FencingWire · 20/05/2016 06:49

fluffy, I was thinking of becoming a podiatrist later on, isn't that funny? I think you'll do brilliantly as a nail tech, don't let anybody put you off. If I knew my nail tech used to be a podiatrist, I'd be very very happy to let you come anywhere near me.
As it is, a combo of aseptic technique religiousity and not being alowed nail varnish keeps me well away from nail bars, but someone experienced to do my toenails....where do I sign?

girlfriend, I am signing the house papers, the solicitors, insurances etc on my own too. I have nobody to talk about it with, it's solely my responsability. It's not easy. But not a lot will touch us once we've been through this. We'll be fine.
I'm making slow progress, I'm reserved untill I sign on the dotted line, but I think I might be going in the right direction.

em, your DH sounds really stressed :( hope things get better soon.

wreck, tie the toe to the next one, (but don't cut the circulation) for a bit, see if it helps?

Well, day off today. I woke up at 2 am thinking...

8FencingWire · 20/05/2016 06:50

blue, thNks for reminding me about the boost event. :)

babsmam · 20/05/2016 07:16

Nsd planned today.
Do need to go shopping but at scout camp this weekend. Please pray for nice weather.

Well done laska and blue on those frugal spends

8FencingWire · 20/05/2016 07:22

Ah, babs, sorry, where I am it looks very much like a grey and wet weekend :(

WreckTangled · 20/05/2016 07:27

I don't think diabetics are supposed to strap their toes!

Whataboutwhathuh · 20/05/2016 08:15

Sorry didn't realise you were diabetic! Get it seen.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/05/2016 08:50

Yesterday was £42 Aldi, £2 homebargains, £288 deposit for training course.

SpaceKablooie · 20/05/2016 09:01

NSD for me yesterday, I'm not sure about DH. He's usually pretty frugal though.

I'm going to make bread and tortilla wraps today I think.

babsmam · 20/05/2016 09:09

Yeah 8 I think that's the forecast for us too
Ah well full waterproof on

CremeEggThief · 20/05/2016 09:45

I don't have any admin qualifications and no recent experience. How would I go about getting back into it? NVQ at college? Apprenticeship, if I'm not too old?

lilacclery · 20/05/2016 10:29

laska I run two YNAB budgets one for joint account and joint cash & the other for my own budget.

I know the ynab theory is one pot and joint household expenses and income but that's not how we work as a couple. We still have independent control of our money and just do a transfer to the joint account weekly. It's working so far anyhow.

They're a fab car. I love red, I want my next car to be a Toyota Auris in red, but I will make the decision based on mileage and condition of car rather than the colour I really want red though [stamps feet]

blue I thought the daisy dw powder went on forever too. I'm loathe to change from aldi tablets now as dishwasher is set up to run with tablets and it works perfectly not like my old one Angry

girl and 8 it's a big step but it will be amazing to walk through the door and know it's all yours, and you decide what happens there. Very proud of you both

em that sounds like your dh is going through a tough time, would he consider a meditation app to unwind before sleep?
