Dinner is chilli with added liquid smoke mmmm

Girlie you deserve your holiday Smile the government can piss off either telling me when I can go on holiday. Until they stagger school holidays to stop he ridiculous price hikes I will probably keep doing it (for he odd days before/after half term whilst dd is at primary!)

needastrongone · 17/05/2016 16:40

There was a legal decision last week in favour of a family that took their child out of school for a holiday in term time, so I suspect the policy will be reviewed, as it was a high court ruling, was on the news. The family challenged the fine.

Tryingtosaveup · 17/05/2016 16:50

When Cag mentioned her trip to the National Space Centre in Leicester I thought" what a good idea, I'll take my GDD."
So I looked it up and mentioned it to my DD .....little one's mother). She thought it was a good idea.
So, later I phoned GDD and asked if she'd like to go. I explained it was about an hour away.
Later GDD said to her Mum:
"Grandmother is going to take me to the INTERNATIOAL Space Station"
"Oh" says Mum "The one that goes round the moon?"
(ashamed here to admit my daughter's lack of knowledge about space)
" that's right" says GDD " it's only an hour away from her"
" grandmother must have a very fast rocket" says Mum
" she has and we're going on it" says GDD
Oh dear, I was planning on driving.....now what am I going to do?

WreckTangled · 17/05/2016 16:52

Trying GrinGrin you'd better look on auto trader for a rocket quick sharp

Tryingtosaveup · 17/05/2016 17:03

Sorry about your chicken Needs. That's horrible. I would love to have chickens but not sure I could manage them Bees are enough for now.
Comeon so sorry to hear about your DSD. Self harming is awful. Poor girl she must have been really stressed. Good job she has you.
The problem with the school holiday court case is that they might change the law to say no holidays in term time. When I was at school kids often, well sometimes took a week off for holidays and no one minded. It never seemed to do any harm

ipsogenix · 17/05/2016 17:31

Need I'm thrilled to hear that you're also a leftie. :-) I can't understand Tory voters either. I would be so glad if the current government just tore itself apart over the referendum. I'm actually counting the minutes.

The thorn in ds's foot is hanging on. He has his foot in a box of soapy water just now. Fingers crossed.

We went on an epic trip to a hearing specialist today and she says ds's hearing is progressing well and shouldn't require surgery. Yay! Trip cost a bomb, but well worth it. Smile

Ememem84 · 17/05/2016 17:50

lilac I had snacks!!! Jacobs flatbreads (salt and pepper flavour) and red pepper humous.

Tonight's no waste dinner is: pasta with pesto. Bacon lardons. Cheese and all the frozen veg we have left. You name it, it's going in. Smile

babsmam · 17/05/2016 18:06

He went to school and seems fine now. Thanks
Mommoy sorry to hear about DSD. That must be rough but at least helping her is also teaching her. Sorry that sounds arsey and I don't mean it to be. I hope you know what I mean so she can get out of this pickle with help and be better for it so it doesn't knock her too much.
Need poor chicky.
Grin trying
Nsd today

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/05/2016 18:19

Your other chickens will be feeling nervous at this rate Need.

Girlie I hope your vet stabilises that cat soon it can't be good for him to be so high.

£20 yesterday on petrol.
£10 homebargains today.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 17/05/2016 18:40

Trying can I have a go in your rocket :)

Brought 3 Lego sets on half price in sainsbury today for ds1 bday had a £4.50 off £30 as well by paying for my sandwich first (till thingy came out) so all 3 sets for £34. He will be 6 in Aug and doesn't particularly ask for stuff other than a general Lego or spiderman stuff so easy to get bits on offer. Rare Lego is half price though

Comeonmommy · 17/05/2016 18:43

You are all so understanding - it really is lovely. My dsd will be fine I am sure. She has left her job today which may seem like a crazy thing for her to be doing but actually I am relieved. She wasn't being treated very nicely by the owners and the patients and she was regularly being attacked - it broke my heart. Bless her though, my 9am she had emailed me her cv to look over and I have just had a whole list of things she has applied for. She isn't afraid of hard work - she just needed some help. My dsd is 20 and it really worries me about my dd and other dsd who are both 9. What on earth are they going to do as they grow up??? Jobs are harder to get, exam pressure is immense, uni is expensive, house prices keep going up and I am on long term disability due to fibro. We just don't have the money anymoreSad

northender · 17/05/2016 18:55

bees trying to use up freezer & cupboard contents is a great idea if your struggling to get to the end of the month. Meals don't have to be super interesting all the time & you might hit on some weird & wonderful combo that works perfectly.
Oh no need not another chicken. Glad you had a good weekend at Chatsworth. I'm hoping to take dd in the second week of her half term. Some friends live reasonably close & can get tickets for next to nothing (less than £10) through work
Another leftie here distraught & angry at what the Tories are doing to the country. Our county council have just announced a plan to close half of their 70 libraries SadAngry
No spending today. Lasagne for tea last night, pasties tonight that dh brought back from Devon....yum.

babsmam · 17/05/2016 18:56

Mommy you are helping here by being there and that is worth more than money. The money stuff can be sorted, we are all testimony to that, the support and love are what's important.

Trying Grin
Sorry to hear about your chicken Need.
Wreck, I have to know, what is liquid smoke?
Spent £14.50 this afternoon on tea and cake for mum, DD and me plus a plant for the garden then gave the window cleaner £8 which is a right pain as I'd been saving a fiver for DD's haircut tomorrow. Will have to get cash out now unless DH has any cash on him.

WreckTangled · 17/05/2016 19:26

Purple it's a flavouring in liquid form. You can use it to season meat and it gives it a bbq flavour and it's really nice in chilli mmmm smokey

8FencingWire · 17/05/2016 19:49

£9 in Yesco for some eggs, cereals for DD, sour cream.
NSD till the end of the week I hope. :)

needastrongone · 17/05/2016 19:59

Ipsos, I watch as they annihilate the NHS, and the education system, and the police, and so on and so forth. And I wonder who votes for them (apart from DH.....). That's good news re your DS's hearing!

Grin Trying

Thanks re the chickens, the others are definitely looking nervous! I am going to get 2/3 rescue chickens to replenish.

Pasties sound lovely North, haven't had one in years!

£54 hair, cut colour and bought shampoo and conditioner, bless village rates!
£20 Birkenstock's from Amazon, will live in them in summer.

I'll post Chatworth pictures soon, they are lovely.

PurpleRibbons · 17/05/2016 20:07

That sounds lovely wreck, can I get it in the supermarket? DH loves things like that.

WreckTangled · 17/05/2016 20:12

Yes I got it in the American bit in tesco but I think others sell it too

Tryingtosaveup · 17/05/2016 20:16

NSD here again. Still living out of cupboard and freezer. This saving up is hard! I am having some strange combinations but it's all ok and I am on my own so no live in OH to worry about.
I planted a load of veggies today and now I want rain. Just gentle rain, nice and light, preferably overnight.
I worry about what my GDCs will do when they grow up. They will have no chance of a house of their own, and that 's if there are any jobs

PurpleRibbons · 17/05/2016 20:43

Tesco has an American bit???!!! DH will be there like a shot when I tell him!

Ememem84 · 17/05/2016 21:08

mommy it's great that dsd can come to you and that you can help. She's a lucky.

ipsos ds' thorn is still in?? Ouch. Poor little guy. Good news about the hearing test though!

need sorry about chick chick.

Busy day here. Letter from HSBC arrived yesterday. They're going to close my offshore account unless I provide passport proof of address etc. Got everything ready and got my boss to certify it all.

Posted it (recorded delivery) to my local branch. £1.78.

Ridiculous really. They can see that I live in jersey. Which is offshore. I'm not allowed an "onshore" account because I'm not uk resident. So obviously I have to have an offshore one. Gah.

Rant over. I hate my bank.

Work is stupid busy but finally got my inbox down to a more manageable 67 emails.

Tryingtosaveup · 17/05/2016 22:06

Em, they have written to you at your jersey address so they must know you live there. Why do they need proof? Stupid bank.
I was with HSBC since my long ago, student days but changed about 7 years ago when other banks stated making good introductory offers. Thinking of changing again to first direct, but it's really HSBC

Cagliostro · 18/05/2016 00:13

Had a rather educational trip round the supermarket today. Needed a few bits but forgot my bank card so had to budget carefully to get it under £9 as that's all the cash I had. It was fine, but it really did show me how awful I am for just shoving stuff in the trolley without actually adding it up as I go along!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 18/05/2016 07:08

OK so searching has found you
