I took the liberty as we were nearly at the end of the last one.

Exciting, cag!
I am on it this morning! 2 loads of washing put away, another one in the machine; emptied dishwasher; made banana oat pancakes for breakfast and have a loaf of bread in the oven.
The sun is shining so I think it'll be more gardening today. Might need a couple of bits from the garden centre and no idea what we're having for lunch, probably cheese on toast!
Interesting about honey, I love honey and would prefer the local stuff but it's so expensive. Probably one of those things that's worth spending a bit extra on though.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 15/05/2016 10:54

Present buying is costly for us although reduced now dh side nieces and nephews all but one are 18+ (we stopped buying at 18 had to draw a line somewhere) on my side is 3 nieces and 5 nephews we spernd about £10 each for bday n Xmas but shop in sales throughout the year and often when I total up full cost value its £25-40 per child but I will have paid £10 give or take couple pounds although gets tricked as they get older.

We have cupboard with presents in for parties and if ds1 has had duplicate or gifts he doesn't particularly have an interest in (or mummy has banned - play dough!!) We regift.

northender · 15/05/2016 11:29

Well done purple I'm tired just reading what you've got done already
Cag that sounds really exciting. I remember when your colleague took credit for the work you had mostly done so I can understand how you feel.
Ds has a cricket match this afternoon, dd and I are going for a walk in some local bluebell woods and then we'll come back to watch him play. Just cooking a brunch to set us up for the day. Spending should be limited to a few drinks at the cricket club & then we'll come home for tea.

8FencingWire · 15/05/2016 13:14

I have a 'method' re presents. Every year I decide on a present that would suit everybody.
One year is books. Other is vouchers. Or I make them all a cushion/cake/biscuits/flowers/pottery etc. Or scarves or fancy soaps or something. But everybody gets the same thing, wrapped exquisitely.
Makes my life and budgeting much easier :)

Wolfcub · 15/05/2016 14:13

That's a really good idea fencing. I was planning on a no spend day today as it ha been a really expensive week but ds has been driving me mad at home so I've brought him to a private park to run some energy off - spends for entry and a small coffee for me

Ememem84 · 15/05/2016 14:32

No frugalness about today.

I did practically sit on Henry cavills lap though. And took a selfie.

babsmam · 15/05/2016 15:47

No frugaleering here either.
£1 church, £8.40 swimming, £23 lunch, £20 on artisan food, £10 trampoline bounce session.
We did win a tin of tuna, a tea bag and a plastic tea spoon which was fun i may have got slightly competative against the other family and free face painting

babsmam · 15/05/2016 15:48

Sorry em I had to Google Henry cavill - ding dong

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 15/05/2016 16:11

I googled too. [fans self]

Arf at your winnings babs jolly good haul that :o

I am feeling spectacularly dizzy/achy today, the to do list gets longer and I'm just like... no. Sod off.

Ememem84 · 15/05/2016 16:45

babs he smelled amazing. His minder wasn't so happy. I practically jumped into his lap....

beesarethebest · 15/05/2016 17:07

Ahem em I had to google him too. Well... How did we/I not know he existed?!! Well done you! Grin

I have to say again, this must be the nicest thread on mn. Even seemingly pleasant ones that go 'I like bloke. How do I approach bloke' seem to turn nasty after a while. What is wrong with people?! Don't agree just don't open thread! Simples. Not.

Frugal win. Was going into town to get new clothes for dd. Whilst in town waiting for shops to open, received a text message from friend asking if we wanted some hand me downs!! Yay! Some nice things too. I'm happy. Dd is happy. I saved probably at least £50-100 (as I would have been tempted).

I did find a really nice pair of shoes which I really quite like. £30. Next. I never walk into next. What do I do? I'm the awkward size 36/37, 3.5/4. Some shoes are one, other styles are the other. I have some shoes that fit but then hurt after a while, is that normal? I want to give them away. Part of my non sparking joy thing. Help!

ipsogenix · 15/05/2016 17:21

Sorry to ask an off-topic question, but does anybody know how to get a massive thorn out of a 6 year old's foot? I've slit the skin with a razor blade but I still can't quite get a grip on the thorn with my dissection tweezers. Ds is going ballistic every time I go near it. Anbesol to numb the skin didn't help. I'm concerned that it will swell up and be impossible to get hold of by tomorrow, but obviously taking him to A&E on a sunday night for a thorn in foot would be a bit OTT. I wondered if anyone had any ideas?

I've been very good today and spent no money at all. Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/05/2016 17:46

You need A&E ipsos. Thorn injuries can carry anaerobic bacteria so they need to know when his last tetanus shot was too.

Poor little boy, I've don't the same with glass and it kills.

£2 biscuits for guests.

WreckTangled · 15/05/2016 17:59

Ipsos I personally would wait until tomorrow and go to minor injuries. I wouldn't touch it anymore.

It was a nsd until I spent £14.95 on dominos for dinner. Dh is trying to build ds' bed and I had to escape.

SpaceKablooie · 15/05/2016 18:01

LSD here, we went to a National Trust place Smile. We're getting lots of use out of our membership, and it's encouraging us to go to fab places that we wouldn't have gone to otherwise. We only bought a coffee while we were there (we shared it! #frugal).

CremeEggThief · 15/05/2016 18:23

NSD.

Ouch, Ipso, poor DS.Sad Have you got any walk-incentres you could get to? I think it needs looking at.

Lucky lady, Em.Smile

That was lucky, Bees.

ipsogenix · 15/05/2016 18:31

Hello :-)

We tried the child health forum and ended up settling on a poultice on the foot and the practice nurse tomorrow if it's looking iffy. Fingers crossed the thing mysteriously drops out in the night.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 15/05/2016 18:49

Hi all, ouch ipsos sounds painful.

Beautiful day here, we went to the Holy Communion, had a nice time and then back to our friends house for tea and cake in the garden afterwards.

Spent £5 ish on a few bits in a discount shop and then treated us to a MacDonalds as I couldn't be arsed to cook at the end of the day, that was about £8. Weekends go too fast Sad

babsmam · 15/05/2016 19:05

I would have gone for a poultice tonight too Ipsos then reviewed tomorrow.
Please the communion was good girlie. How dressy was it in the end.

Question- are any of you large of nork (f cup). I'm wondering if it's worth getting bra size tankinis or not. I would need 2 but they are quite expensive.

PurpleRibbons · 15/05/2016 19:13

Ouch! That sounds really sore ipso, hope you get it sorted tomorrow.
We've also been to an NT place and had a lovely walk, there were ducklings - so cute! £6 on ice creams but that's it for today. We've had a very low spend weekend Smile

beesarethebest · 15/05/2016 19:25

ipsos that sounds painful. Did you manage to get it out in the end (you say it's a big thorn)? Good luck.

Glad holy communion went well girlie. How dressy was it?

We did spend some money but not a lot. £5 on eyebrow pencil at boots (no 7 one, had £3 voucher). My current pencil has been going on for 10 years I swear, or more. It is an Estée Lauder one. £4 at Wilkos to buy parchment paper and some plasters.

Made a cake.

Here are the shoes. What do you think? http://www.next.co.uk/x57346s2#145053

PurpleRibbons · 15/05/2016 19:30

They are very nice bees. I have similarly awkward feet, I think Next is one of the few places that does half sizes.

Comeonmommy · 15/05/2016 19:52

Ipsos - this may sound super stupid but would TCP work? It draws splinters out very quickly and cleans as it goes........

babsmam · 15/05/2016 19:54

They are nice shoes. I would order both and send one back.

beesarethebest · 15/05/2016 20:03

Thanks purple and babs!! I did try them in store and the 37/4 fitted well. Slight toe cleavage but v nice and frankly v walkable. Importantly I can walk in them in London! I hope.
