Yes wreck, I forgot to ask, how was the group? I read that earlier and was pleased for you.

Colliefeatures · 20/04/2016 17:40

Thanks everyone!

girlie thank goodness for that. Glad your managers see some sense. I'd hate to get an email like that!!

wreck toddler group bargain! Hope it went well. We stopped going to toddler group Blush

WreckTangled · 20/04/2016 17:49

Thanks everyone t was good. There was only five of us which suits me fine.

PurpleRibbons · 20/04/2016 17:57

Frugal win! A friend just gave me a bag of her DD's old clothes. Also only spent £3.49 today on dishwasher tablets and milk.
Isn't the weather lovely again?

Ememem84 · 20/04/2016 18:05

girlie good news. At least someone has sense.

collie m&s skinny jeggins. High waisted. Still look and feel like jeans (have pockets).

£1 spent today. At the seminar there were loads of stands with free stuff. Most involved me handing over a business card chatting for a bit about this and that then getting pens/notebooks/tote bag/bottle opener... One wanted me to drop a business card jn a bucket then pay a pound towards coppafeel charity. I would then be entered into a prize draw to win a£500 voucher for a nice hotel here. And some secondary prizes. Didn't win the hotel voucher Sad but did win a lovely business card holder.

Ordered my Israeli money today. Will pay for most things via card if I can but figured it'd be worth taking some cash. Will pick it up after payday. (Tomorrow!)

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/04/2016 19:06

Welcome comeon. What are your biggest spends at the moment?.

£10 tk maxx
£5.17 wilkos but returning one item for 50p because it didn't fit.
£9.70 taking mil out for coffee and cake. Wasn't as good as John Lewis cafe.
£1.20 for watch battery.

Bras came but one going back as a poor fit. Shoeaholics and Kurt Geiger refunds refunded & just one more refund to go.

Box of books & DVD sent to Ziffit.

I feel like I'm 3 days behind this week. Monday, I registered with a supply agency, had lots of admin and DS's parents evening. Yesterday, I registered with another teaching agency then met DS for an emergency dental appointment for his dental infection. The dentist panicked and sent us to A&E, where we waited ages, trying to get hold of the out-of-hours dental team, as apparently, A&E can't treat dental problems any more (it's a recent decision).Confused Anyway, finally got through to emergency dentist, who said it wouldn't make much difference if DS had to wait until today to start antibiotics and to ring our normal dentist in the morning. So by the time we got home, it was nearly 8.30 p.m., trying to sort it out since 3.30 p.m. Then I rang our dentist this morning, who referred us to Paediatric First Aid at Sunderland hospital. Bear in mind, it takes a good couple of hours and 3 buses for us to get there! We set off about 10.15, got there about 12.45. We were seen quickly and DS was treated by a lovely and efficient lady and prescribed TWO courses of antibiotics (3 days on metronidazole and a week on penicillin), but it was 3 pm by the time we left and nearly 6 pm when we finally got home today! Absolutely shattered after it all. I don't know why the dentist couldn't have just prescribed antibiotics last night and referred DS today Confused. Anyway, it was just as well I made that £70 selling on eBay on Sunday, as I have no money until tomorrow. Most of it has been spent, on travel and food, as we got stuff on our way to hospital yesterday and had an early lunch just before going to the hospital today. Phew!

babsmam · 20/04/2016 19:21

Crème that's bonkers. Why didn't your dentist prescribe the antibiotics? That's shit.

babsmam · 20/04/2016 19:21

Have a rest now crème too. That busyness might take it out of you.

WreckTangled · 20/04/2016 19:25

Oh goodness creme poor you (and ds!) you must both be exhausted

8FencingWire · 20/04/2016 19:43

Creme :( not good! Hope you get a restful night.
LSD here, did a small Lidl fir some cheese and biscuits.

CremeEggThief · 20/04/2016 20:09

Thanks all. I don't know, Babs, I think she panicked a bit. Maybe she thought A&E could give DS the antibiotics intravenously to work quicker or something? To be fair, his right cheek was incredibly swollen yesterday. It came down a good bit overnight, even without antibiotics last night.

I do feel a bit wiped out. It isn't so much the worry and travel, as having to remember and change lots of little things; like getting my shopping order to come this morning before we had to go out, in case we'd be gone all day; and lots of juggling money about from PayPal to the bank account it's linked to to the bank account I actually use my cash card with, going slightly overdrawn and finding the couple of quid I need to stop me being charged, etc. It's having to do all of the thinking and planning all of the time when something goes wrong that grinds one down.

babsmam · 20/04/2016 20:13

I'm not surprised you feel like that. Don't do any more tonight crème. Everything can wait until tomorrow. Hope the antibiotics help DS and sort him out too.

Comeonmommy · 20/04/2016 20:15

AdoraBell - I have a partner in full time work and 2 dd's aged 8 & 9. We aren't anywhere near skint but we will miss my wage (was full time in finance)

I don't like wasting money and now it is even more important to me. I am at home all day and could spend money everyday without even thinking about it but I am happier when I get through a day without spending a penny!!!

This thread has given me a lot to think about. I particularly like the idea of moving funds around to get the most out of bank accounts and will compare gas/electric at renewal.

I do my main shop at Tesco and stick to a list. I then do kids treats from Pound shop and toiletries from Wilko/tesco. We have an Aldi being built and can't wait for it to open so I can get bits from there too.

Is it worth using sites like clicksnap, shoptize etc?

I am unable to offer any ideas yet but once I get up and running I will be totally onboard - maybe then I can help you guys!!!

Comeonmommy · 20/04/2016 20:19

Cag - sorry you are also off. Sucks being ill doesn't it !!!Thanks

Meant to say, I am a big lover of Facebook and always put dd's clothes, old toys etc on the selling sites. Have made £19 todaySmile

Colliefeatures · 20/04/2016 20:30

creme your poor DS and poor you too :( just relax now. X

I just did the shop and it was £68 including bits for our week away. Very pleased tbh.

what I've been thinking of you. Hope you are enjoying yourself!

I seriously need to make our kitchen cupboards soft close somehow. I am fed up of hearing the doors slam shut. More so than any other kitchen we've ever had! It rattles through the house and gets picked up on the baby monitorwhich is at the back of the house. Drives me mad! Angry

needastrongone · 20/04/2016 20:32

Creme You really must take it easy the next few days and recover. I totally get that it's the logistics of things that can be wearing and thinking everything through all the time. Hope your DS is ok. Please take it steady. x

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 20/04/2016 20:53

creme thats bonkers. Your poor ds. Hope the anti b's kick in quickly for him. My ds's front 4 teeth came through without enamel, they chipped away and he got a hellish infection...we took him the 40 miles through to the rvi dental hospital in Newcasle, he was seen within 10 mins, prescribed anti b's (this was a monday), and he had them removed on the friday. My poor baby, teeth out at 2.5. Overnight he was a different child. Take it easy for a bit.

Managed 34 miles in the sunshine, but a bit burst afterwards (and didn't get back in time to pick the little kids up from school Blush had to send dp). Dp got us fish and chips for tea, and I took the dogs 3 more miles on the back bridleway. My big dog (visla) ran at 20mph next to me! Need more sunny days to cycle more!

WreckTangled · 20/04/2016 21:09

Aww knitting poor ds! I don't have any enamel on my back teeth they've all got caps on.

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 20/04/2016 21:21

I've slept the afternoon oops. I think it's overcoming this illness.

My mum treated us to a take away for tea.. then said I owe her £4. Oh well not all is lost lol.

babsmam · 20/04/2016 21:49

Oh I'd I didn't realise you were a northerner too. Poor DS hope he feels better too

PurpleRibbons · 20/04/2016 21:58

Hope your DS is better soon creme.

Cagliostro · 20/04/2016 22:39

Yikes Creme what a nightmare :( hope he recovers quickly.

Spends:
£4.65 train
£4.80 bus
£4 Poundland
£2.40 chips
£2.50 home ed club
£6.82 book bags. I realised that DCs really liked having a book bag at school, so I've ordered plain ones in their favourite colours and they can decorate them with Sharpies :o then we'll keep their current reading books in them, and also they've agreed I will put a little work in there at night, so if I'm having a bad morning health-wise they can just get on with it - will be good to encourage independent studying too. :)
