Hi All,
Taking the liberty of starting a new thread, as I went to post spends on the old one and it's full.

We had a lovely day out at the seaside and visited an old lighthouse as part of it. As we rely on public transport, that's always a big part of our days out spend.
£9.60 bus fares.
£9.60 train fares (with the family railcard).
£6 lunch from Sainsburys ( £3 meal deal each).
£4.50 entrance to the lighthouse.
£7.10 coffee, hot chocolate and cookies in a café afterwards.

Oh and DS needed a haircut, which I think was £6.50.

Oh, meant to say there was a a discussion further back re: cinema prices. I very rarely go to the cinema as it's soooo expensive. That's just for three of us - DH, DD and I. It's not like we've five or six kids. We generally go once during the holidays so maybe once at Christmas, once at Easter and once during the summer holidays. I love movies and would go a lot more often if the cost wasn't so prohibitive. We buy goodies at a newsagents in advance and smuggle them in. I wonder would the cinemas take in more money if they reduced their prices a bit so people could go more often?

At Christmas I buy the bumper RTE Guide and record as many movies as possible (I hate when two good movies clash!) and that keeps us going for a few months. I buy DVDs occasionally but I wait until the price comes down to approx. €8. I don't buy online as by the time I convert the price from £ to € and then add on postage costs (Amazon etc. charge postage to ROI), the cost is usually significantly higher than the advertised price.

Taytocrisps · 04/04/2016 13:26

Actually, DD loves both cucumber and cherry tomatoes, so I probably need to remind her to have these more often. Are tomatoes fruit or veg? I always forget.

Pointlessfan · 04/04/2016 13:50

I think they are technically fruit tayto because of the seeds, calling them "salad" gets round it! My DD likes "chips" which are actually sweet potatoes cut into chips, tossed in a little oil and baked in a hot oven! She also likes soup so eats a lot of veg like that. She'll eat anything if it's covered in cheese sauce so she has broccoli or cauliflower cheese quite a lot. She also likes "pesto" which is cooked broccoli and garlic blitzed in the blender and stirred into pasta.

Hello! Jumping back in as I seem to have lost my way a bit. It was Ds1's birthday at the weekend and I made him a paw patrol cake. Didn't cost much thankfully! We just had family over for food but I still spent a fortune it feels!

I was wondering where you had gone what!

WreckTangled · 04/04/2016 15:13

Brilliant cake Cake

Whataboutnodetox · 04/04/2016 15:38

I was finding the thread moving too fast for me but I need to try harder as without this place I don't notice my NSD or have them..

Today I have bought a humane Mouse trap for the garage for £6.99

Two lots of postage at £2.85 each and £1.50 for four books in the book shop. I also need to go and collect the travel stair gate I've bought for £10 locally. We have lots of weekends away coming up so it'll get a lot of use.

I've sold a few things on eBay and have a pushchair to list next.

I have one month left of pay from work and then I'm resigning so I'll have to pay them for the fuel I've used in my company car and they'll have to pay me for my annual leave.

DH and I have been taking about the fact that although he earns a very good amount we seem to have very little money compared to our friends. I need to work out why this is. I think I'm Amazon frittering again.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/04/2016 16:02

Tayto well done on mammoth catch up Grin I though that ystd at the cinema, it was virtually empty and I think if they halved the price of tickets lots more people would go - makes no sense to me! My friend was delighted with the hamper, am pleased I went with that rather than flowers in the end, I think they would have got more use/ enjoyment from the hamper than flowers which only last a few days.

Have had a spendy day, completely under estimated how long we would be in town for and had to keep adding parking time via my phone which is an expensive way of doing it - frugal fail. Parking costs probably about £5 in the end.

Lunch £6.50 for me and dd.

£5 in The Works on a lovely 7 stories in 1 book for for my friends ds.

£16.99 on new casual shoes for dd to replace her winter boots in Sports Direct. They look pretty trendy, just hope dd wears them as she has a habit of wearing things for a bit before deciding she doesn't like them/ they are not comfortable Angry not that i will buy an alternative!!

Think thats about it spends wise, I went into hsbc and spoke to someone. The lady looked on the computer and said it didn't look like I had taken PPI out on the loan but has given me this email address to try [email protected] so will message them and see what they say.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/04/2016 16:09

What You don't have to do the chatty thing if you don't want too, just do the moneysaving bit.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/04/2016 16:12

Creme sorry meant to link the above email address to you! Might be worth emailing them as well?

Tayto will your dd eat things like carrot sticks, cucumber, avocado, beetroot? My dd isn't a massive veg eater but then neither am I but does like all of the above so we quite often have salad as an alternative to veg iyswim.

CremeEggThief · 04/04/2016 16:16

Thanks Girlie. I'll give it a go.Star

Fluffy - I hope people don't think I'm rude though, I read everything but I often don't have the energy to remember who said what. I've just been diagnosed with very, very low vitamin d levels and am taking super duper doses for the next six weeks and a mega dose daily for the next year. The six month old and the three year old don't help matters!

Lucsy did you used to be elextrolux?

Sod being rude, you're here to save money. It's a rubbish thread if we're not helping you.

Yes. It does.

lilacclery · 04/04/2016 16:53

TAYTO have you considered screenclick.com? It's a movie rental site.
I used to use it prior to realising that I'm hopeless to stay awake for movies!

Badders123 · 04/04/2016 16:53

Ooof
Big bill at Dentists again...need a clean and a filling
Grr
I know I am awful for frittering on Amazon! I found adding all my spends up at the end of the month really opened my eyes! HmmShock

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/04/2016 17:01

Amazon makes it very easy though. Too easy.

NSD & I sent 3 pairs of shoes back to shoeaholics.

CremeEggThief · 04/04/2016 17:09

Lucsy welcome back! I've been thinking of you lately x

what that cake is so cool!

tayto colossal catch up! Thank you :)

LSD. Need Nutella, baked beans and a trowel later. I ended up potting pansies with an old desert spoon Grin which DS can now have for his sand pit.

I love reading what other people's toddlers eat - mine is going through a fussy phase. At least he will eat cottage pie twice a week! So I batch cook it and fill it with goodness. But keeping up with his fussiness can be so expensive. Grrrs. The cheese sauce idea is fab! He loves cheese.

Ipsos · 04/04/2016 17:30

Lucsy I'm the same at the moment. Just frantically grabbing a minute to check in once a day. I used to spend hours on here. I know what you mean about feeling bad about not always having time to support others. I suppose we all have times when we more to give though. Good idea to keep checking in occasionally even when we're super-busy.

I was rubbish today and spent £20 in a garden centre on tat and Mr Men mugs, but it was a nice day with ds and we deserved a nice day. Nuts to it. Smile
