Hi All,
Taking the liberty of starting a new thread, as I went to post spends on the old one and it's full.

We had a lovely day out at the seaside and visited an old lighthouse as part of it. As we rely on public transport, that's always a big part of our days out spend.
£9.60 bus fares.
£9.60 train fares (with the family railcard).
£6 lunch from Sainsburys ( £3 meal deal each).
£4.50 entrance to the lighthouse.
£7.10 coffee, hot chocolate and cookies in a café afterwards.

Oh and DS needed a haircut, which I think was £6.50.

Just passing by, loads to do and I'd much rather stay on the sofa catching up with the thread!

Saturday turned out to be NSD for DH as well, yesterday in addition to my spends he spent £19.69, mostly food/medicine but £4.99 was on nerdy things from his pocket money :o

And I found out that the Amazon seller did honour my cancellation so that's all good. Excited to get the DVD, will be one for a movie night with DSD my anime buddy.

Ememem84 · 04/04/2016 17:39

Hi all! Will catch up properly later but so far today £13 on cheese toasties for me and my colleague for lunch (with chips and a glass of wine each).

Incredible busy day. We have barely stopped. Except for lunch and even then we only went next door to the pub. End of U.K. Tax year has thrown my working day into turmoil and chaos. I'm expecting more tomorrow 😭 (also really not feeling well today - fluey and coldy. So that hasn't helped. Have said tomorrow as I have two meetings early doors I'll go in but might ditch afterwards and sneak home to bed).

Haven't spoken to dh today but hopefully the bathrooms been ordered.

dinner tonight will be sausages with kale and a tomatoey garlicky beany sauce (like grown up baked beans). Yum. Then early bedtime. Smile

Pointlessfan · 04/04/2016 17:49

Lucsy I was thinking about you the other day, good to have you back!
Love the cake what.
I'm knackered! Had a lovely day with DD but I'd got used to having DH around last week and now he's back at work.
Hoping I have enough energy to do our budget tonight.
Just making cauliflower and lentil curry which is one of DD's (and my) favourites, really looking forward to it. Should be plenty for the freezer too.

Nsd hooray!

Dinner was Caesar salad with roast chicken, crudités, falafel, pitta and humous. Went down well the dc too. Have to pack tonight because straight after work tomorrow I'm driving with the dc to Kent to stay with my sister until Thursday when we will need to be back in time for dd's swimming lessons. I feel like I haven't stopped recently!

SpaceKablooie · 04/04/2016 18:18

Thanks for the Parmesan rind tips, I need to up my frugal game Grin. I loved the story about the guest eating the rind in soup out of politeness (sorry, I couldn't find it again, so I'm not sure who told it!). Em, we sometimes buy Gran Padano too, but there wasn't actually much price difference this time (Tesco). Morrison's also has something called Hard pizza cheese Hmm, which looks and tastes quite like Parmesan.

We use it to make cheese sauce (part Parmesan, part cheddar), usually for macaroni cheese or similar, and on top of spaghetti bolognaise. Yum.

SpaceKablooie · 04/04/2016 18:20

Lucsy, I loved reading about you seeing light at the end of the tunnel Smile. Well done, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

WreckTangled · 04/04/2016 18:22

My dads in hospital. He's just had a routine operation and is feeling really crappy apparently. He's in his fifties and it's the first time he's had a day off work let alone been in hospital. I would go and see him but the hospital is thirty miles away and he's hoping to be out tomorrow anyway.

Gws wreck dad
Welcome back what, lucsy and tayto. Just post if you want, it's not rude, there is enough support for everyone. I'm rubbish at the chat as life just seems so mundane but that's what makes team frugal so good. Team frugal, team frugal ra ra ra. runs away before being kicked off the thread for being a knob discovers I swear too much as knob was already in my phone's dictionaryBlush
£13 national trust stop instead of motorway services. £51 on dinner.

babsmam · 04/04/2016 19:55

Strike out fail

CremeEggThief · 04/04/2016 20:13

Have a great time at Lego land, Babs and family, and in Kent, Wreck. Sorry to hear about your dad, but it's a bit too far to travel, if he's only in for 1 night.

Lucksy, great to hear your DD got her school place and light's at the end of the tunnel.☺
I really enjoyed Pilates and feel happy to be back. Spends today: £21 for the next 3 lessons; £3.22 in the Co-op, on crumpets, chocolate and sweets, and £1.90 on my bus fare home. Our bus fares have just gone up, but only by 10p. Total : £ 26.12.

Girlie, I've emailed HSBC too. So it's just a waiting game. I probably didn't take it out, as I was about to go on maternity leave from a temporary job, but it's still worth checking, right?

Thanks for the welcome back team :-)

I am still keeping up with the daily and weekly savings backwards. I've got quite a lot saved and I might use it for a holiday next year. This year we are staying in a caravan on the Isle of Wight through the sun. It's all paid for and the ferry so just food and fuel. I need to work out if there is any national trust stuff we can do for free. I'm hoping for good weather so we can be on the beach or in the pool most days.

I need to start doing some meal planning. We had a slimming world chicken and bacon pasta bake for dinner. Sadly my husband finished work an hour late so it was very over cooked especially as I only had quick cook pasta in. I have a freezer full of muscle food but I've run out of cheese and tinned tomatoes so I'm thinking I might have to go to the supermarket. I'm following slimming world and it can be a bit time consuming and I need to plan.

lilacclery · 04/04/2016 20:39

Lucsy it's great to see you back & hear of the good news about your children's schools I'm sad to hear there were weeks when you couldn't feed yourself I hope those times have passed for you.

I'm newly revived to start selling stuff online again starting with my sling for ds. He's 2.5 & 2.5 st I'm not likely to be carrying him anymore!
Cloth nappies then
Clothes
My cleaner recommended I do a table at a Sunday market its only €4 entry, I might. Will do Facebook first though

Had first counselling session today, I feel very Sad after it but that's part of the process I guess. I'm going again next mon eve.

Where are you staying what? And when are you going? We're off in seven weeks Smile hoping for a heat wave Grin

Lilac Thanks

Ememem84 · 04/04/2016 20:49

Balls. Another letter from Hsbc. Asking me to demanding provide my uk tax reference or, as they have put it, my TIN (tax identification number) number.

A number of things wrong with this. Essentially they are asking for my TINN (number number...) so this grammatically jncirrect. I don't have a uk TINN. Nor a TIN. And they know they jersey isn't classed by them as uk.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/04/2016 20:50

It must be very emotionally draining for you Lila.

Wreck He's probably knocked out from the ga & resting. You have two young children to look after so I'm sure he will understand.

WreckTangled · 04/04/2016 20:51

Em that annoys me with PIN number too!

Yes fluffy he didn't want anyone there anyway even my step mum was made to just drop him off this morning. My dad is a bit of a super hero BlushGrin

Pointlessfan · 04/04/2016 21:21

Well done on starting the counselling lilac.
Have just ordered a stair gate and a couple of other things on my cc. Also did budget, it wasn't as bad as I'd feared but we've definitely gone overboard with treats lately.

lilacclery · 04/04/2016 22:46

Pity we don't live in same country my stair gate going up on Facebook too

Cagliostro · 04/04/2016 22:57

Haven't caught up with this thread yet!

Today:
£9 booked movies for juniors for the 4 of us plus DD's friend who we are looking after on Wed
£2 donation to get bee saver kit!
£2.38 milk/cereal
£9.99 Spanish kids video

Quiet day, came back from mum's in the morning. Also lucky DD now has a lovely coat and trousers thanks to a kind mysterious MNer :o Thanks

Should be another quiet one tomorrow. Rest of the week is absolute madness though.

Pointlessfan · 05/04/2016 07:14

That's a shame lilac, I think you are a long way from me though!
Today could be a NSD, have a few jobs to do this morning and friends coming over this afternoon. It very much depends if I order anything else on Amazon!

Colliefeatures · 05/04/2016 07:47

Lilac, hoping it helps Flowers

NSD today. But we do need to reign it in as we had take away fish & chips last night which was £15 for 2 portions. I had budgeted £15 for a take away this month so I'm not too fussed and it was nice to have a treat.

No more treats this week!

Also, we have finished saving up for the car service and MOT so it's booked in for Thursday. Bit worried about things that may need replacing though. The car is very rattly. our car is not suitable for Cornish roads!
