Hi All,
Taking the liberty of starting a new thread, as I went to post spends on the old one and it's full.

We had a lovely day out at the seaside and visited an old lighthouse as part of it. As we rely on public transport, that's always a big part of our days out spend.
£9.60 bus fares.
£9.60 train fares (with the family railcard).
£6 lunch from Sainsburys ( £3 meal deal each).
£4.50 entrance to the lighthouse.
£7.10 coffee, hot chocolate and cookies in a café afterwards.

Oh and DS needed a haircut, which I think was £6.50.

Girlie, I second turning things off at the switch and at night, watch TV in the dark or with battery-operated fairy lights/candles. Our electricity is about £1 a day, including charging 2 mobiles, a laptop and a tablet daily and running the tumble dryer 4 or 5 times a week.

I did my first bit of eBay listing for a while. 10 items, so we'll see how they go.
Spends: £1 at the local shop (pint of milk and chocolate).

babsmam · 10/04/2016 19:29

Lucsy my eyebrows are all nice and smooth now.. Just got a wee bit of tweezing to do later then that's one job done. Will let my hair dry naturally go into a curly frizzbomb ha ha. Sorry to hear about your injury though.

Back to work again tomorrow.. counting down the days/weeks till I leave.

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/04/2016 19:43

Lucsy ouch that must hurt like fuck!. A colleague did it too, she was just walking normally and it went.

Well done on the cashback ma. If you take it as Tesco points it's worth 3-4 times that in days out vouchers etc.

Colliefeatures · 10/04/2016 19:50

Ouchies lucsy!

girlie my energy costs dropped by £30 a month since moving from a draughty house to the new build! Smile

Electric showers are surprisingly expensive too, so keep an eye on those, Girlie.

Ouch, Lucsy. BrewCake

£13 on a dustbin for the garage. We have mice we have discovered. I have caught and release two but until our rubbish is securely stored they will come straight back as we live in a country park

Lucsy how awful, I am sorry. I hope they can give you a boot or something xx

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/04/2016 20:32

Yeah i wondered about the shower Creme but wondered if that was countered by not having to heat the hot water (night storage heater) for a bath every day? Thank you for the tips, will def start switching things off at the switch. Am impressed at £1 a day Shock mine in 3 times that!!

needastrongone · 10/04/2016 20:37

Evening.

Thank you one and all for all your kind words about DD and the pony. We are home. I am shattered. DH has been wonderful and the house is spotless and all the washing done and tea cooked. We lost a chicken over the weekend too Sad

DD was largely fine to be fair, we have been on and around farms all our lives our livery is DIY at a working farm. She fairly matter of fact about death/accidents etc. She wouldn't with her own pony, but can disassociate pretty well.

Em Mounted games is fantastic to watch and to participate in, really good fun. Fast and furious and exciting. I think you should go to Royal Ascot. You save so hard, this is a wonderful opportunity. It's good stuff like this that can keep you on the frugal wagon iyswim? Embrace it and enjoy it.

Lucksy Flowers Ouch.

North I am so sorry the sleepover didn't go so well. I hope high school makes her feel like she's a better 'fit' iyswim? She probably feels like a square peg in a round hole at present.

Sorry if I do multiple posts, I am trying to catch up.

Don't have teenagers is my biggest tip for reducing electric Grin

CremeEggThief · 10/04/2016 20:50

Yes, yes, Need. Looking forward to DS going back to school tomorrow, as he's pushed our electric up a bit to £1.20 a dayGrin.

shit lucsy! I hope you're ok!! Sounds awful.
rest up. X

need Dh and I have said we're going. Flights are around £100 each for the weekend (with cabin baggage). Hotel will be similar I'd imagine. And trains to the event around £15 each. Plus drinks/food etc. Friend has membership so I think we'll be in the Queen Anne (??) enclosure. So not as posh as the Royal bit but Dh will have to be suited and booted and I'll have to wear a hat. I've got "fun" money saved up so we can use it for this.

dont good job waxing your eyebrows! I'd never do mine. Would probably wax my eyes closed... I can barely tweeze mine myself so you're super brave!

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/04/2016 21:19

girlie it'll be the rads. 2-3 kWh each for 8h a night is 16-24 units each. Every night.

Does the new house have gas?.

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/04/2016 21:21

Book the hotel now em. Got any Tesco points?. Lots of hotel chain accept them.

I'd have gone too, it's not the kind of invite you get everyday.

Colliefeatures · 10/04/2016 21:59

So glad you are going Em!

It's been one of those bleak Sundays. Totally ready for the week ahead. Grin it's not often I say that!

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 11/04/2016 06:01

Another day at work for me.. Then will come home and probably find something to do and clean/make lists/sort out etc.

Most likely a NSD.

I feel grim this morning. Not sure if I have a virus coming on. I hope not.

Ememem84 · 11/04/2016 06:34

fluffy no- no tesco points! No actual tesco here! Sad I'll have a look at booking.com/last minute.com to see if I can get any good deals. We'll be staying in central London so there'll be loads of hotels available.

Back to work today. Should be nsd.

WreckTangled · 11/04/2016 06:51

Em the hilton at Canary Wharf is v reasonable.

Should be a nsd. Dd back at school and I'm off to see a friend with ds.

Fluffy I did the price match guarantee with both things on topcashback

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/04/2016 07:07

Marvellous. I'm waiting for mine to get approved today.

babsmam · 11/04/2016 07:17

No school until tomorrow here. Hair cuts and passports are the order of the day. Have a friends DD here to but she is easy to have as both DD have grown up together.

Ememem84 · 11/04/2016 07:21

I've just had a quick check at topcashback. I can get about 4% back if I book via booking.com.

(I want to stay at the laslet - we met a client there for a meeting the last time I was in London it's so lovely. Really chic and modern and old fashioned at the same time and super cute. But costs £200 a night.....so a bit out of price range!)

wreck thanks I'll look at the Hilton. I think have a Hilton rewards number too.
