girlie YAY!!! The fools. But YAY! I'm SO pleased for you. I thought it was odd considering you are a nurse and you are a single parent. So that makes you double priority. Wink high five! The process is a flippin' ball ache BUT it is SO worth it. Hand holding all the way FlowersSmile

lilacclery · 01/03/2016 21:06

I am so happy for you!

fuzzpig · 01/03/2016 21:11

OMG! Yay that is such awesome news Girlie congratulations! :o

I'll share a little happy news too if I may - my friend just messaged me to say well done because another county are holding a copy of the event I came up with last year. It's spreading, I'm so chuffed! That's my idea, my 'baby' travelling elsewhere. It's a little bittersweet of course given the fact I'm no longer able to work. But I'm still proud to see it :) at least when I leave I can truly say I've made my mark.

fuzzpig · 01/03/2016 21:16

Today:
Bus £6.50
Greggs £6.35 Blush (organisation fail - spent too long tidying and forgot to make lunch :o DCs have agreed to a once a month limit for this from now on - we have the same rule for McDonalds - so will have to be better in future! Blush)
Creative Writing £2.50

fuzzpig · 01/03/2016 21:27

Thanks all for the spreadsheet advice Thanks I'm sure I'll find a way that works for my fussiness :o Blush

Mum bought us a couple of fitted single sheets today - much appreciated as now the DCs both have single beds (as opposed to toddler size) - we only had 2 sheets before so no spares. Apparently she's got unicorns for DD and owls for DS :o I'll have to get a bigger duvet for DS at some point and replace DD's horrible one (we've got plenty of covers so that's not an issue) but DS is happy with his old cot bed one and they both have fleecy blankets too.

Managed heaps more tidying today. Applied the same method as this morning, and it worked brilliantly. While the DCs were putting all that stuff away, I grabbed anything I could find to chuck out and filled a binbag with it.

Pointlessfan · 01/03/2016 21:37

Brilliant news girlie so, so excited for you!
That's good news about your idea spreading too fuzz. Well done you!

bootygirl · 01/03/2016 21:46

Oh girlie I am so delighted 🎈🎉🎈🎈🎈🎈🎉 yippee!!

Fuzz that is lovely to get positive feedback😀 Well done on the tiding.

€25 in Aldi. In pain all day & I am going to dentist tomorrow at 10.30. Fingers crossed. Think I ll need teeth guard. €€€€ but the pain is awful.

Allgunsblazing · 01/03/2016 21:48

girlie, how did they justify their incompetence? Grrrr. But very happy for you.

Nearly NSD. I ordered some prints and the paypal invoice arrived today.
NSD challenge for the next 72h!

Ememem84 · 01/03/2016 21:50

girlie yay!! Really pleased for you!!

Still nsd here. I think that's my second this week.

Dh has gone down with a cold and is ridiculously sniffly snuffly. I'm sleeping in the spare room tonight.

AdoraBell · 01/03/2016 21:59

Yay Girlie fantástico news Grin

£9 buying DH coffee and cake. Having tapped him for diner money yesterday I forgot To get money out again so have tapped him again.

Will try To catch up properly tomorrow.

Allgunsblazing · 01/03/2016 22:02

girlieSt DavidsStar

Meant to start my 72h NSD today, but I had to pay a paypal invoice for some prints I've ordered. I'll start again tomorrow.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 01/03/2016 22:04

Thanks everyone Smile I don't think I will really believe it until the keys are in my hand!! The woman I spoke to was totally clueless about ystds email Angry not nice playing with peoples lives/emotions!

Ipsos · 02/03/2016 05:08

Fuzz yes I use excel. It means that I can collect just the information that I need and have it laid out in the way that helps me. I'm not trying to learn a new software system and worrying about making mistakes in a complex set up. I find it really very helpful.

What I do is to have columns for:

  • Groceries
  • ds activities
  • family days out
  • my treats

in one sheet, and I fill those in every day

I have separate sheets for:

  • house
  • clothes
  • Christmas
  • any large house project while it is going on

which are also filled in whenever I spend money on those areas.

At the end of the month I summarise all this in one "summary sheet"

Then I have another that is "end report", which is even briefer.

Well done Girlie, that's great news. Smile

Ipsos · 02/03/2016 05:23

Fuzz there's an article today about what men of 50 should do if they find themselves struggling to get a job because of a gap in their cv. It's not long, but has some ideas. Its particularly good on the problem of men not being able to get jobs that are below their previous level. It's on p12 of the financial times.

babsmam · 02/03/2016 06:07

Yeah girlie that's fantastic news. Thank heaven you chased it up
Fuzz great news too. Could you become an event consultant?

Need to go to aldi today as Dh didn't get yesterday. He hasn't got back from work from yesterday yet so doubt he will be fit to go today.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 02/03/2016 06:28

Girlie congrats and holiday childcare is nightmare isn't it got to book ds1 in for couple days at easter luckily my annual leave runs til end march n just being back from mat leave in sept I have covered most school hols so far n Easter we only need 2days between dh n myself being off but compared to ds2 nursery at £50 a day ds1 after school cm is £13 a day n his holiday club £12.50 or £20 day depending on which he goes too.

Does anyone else do tesco orchard or bzz agent haven't had anything off either for months!! I also do mumsnet product tests

WreckTangled · 02/03/2016 06:51

I haven't had anything from tesco orchard for ages either.

Pointlessfan · 02/03/2016 07:37

Morning all. Continuing my wardrobe sorting and my underwear drawer is even worse than my clothes! I have 2 bras neither of which fits especially well and 10 pairs of pants, all black. 5 of them are ones I bought for after my c section. They are big pants, 2 sizes too big. One thing I have in abundance is socks as my mum buts me them all the time, not sure why but I'm pleased!
So plan is to replace pants first then buy extra pair of leggings and jeans. I think Sainsbury's will have 25% off again in Easter hols - is that right? If so will wait until then. I might as well wait for the warmer weather before buying any tops.

Ememem84 · 02/03/2016 08:37

I'm almost done with the wardrobe cull pointless just a drawer of tshirts to do next. Then hopefully I'll be all set.

Should be nsd today (again). Dh was more than useless this morning. He's still not feeling well. But insisted on going to work despite being able to work from home so sat on the couch watching to until 745 then decided to have a shower. And get ready.

I've taken washing out put new washing on put dinner in slow cooker made lunches had shower washed and dried my hair and was ready to go by 8.

I have a seminar after work. How to respond to a crisis. not sure what sort of crisis I may face in my job really - clients bank account dropping below 5mill??? hoping there'll be canapés.

Colliefeatures · 02/03/2016 08:51

Em that made me laugh. I used to work for an investment bank and had to manage portfolios like that! We had to do "managing in a crisis" training too - which we had to use twice in a matter of weeks.

NSD! It's so windy here slightly worried about our roof

fuzzpig · 02/03/2016 09:18

Babs re: consultancy that's what my dad said :o sadly given my line of work and budget constraints it's never going to happen, but TBH I will probably still be involved in future years anyway, as it's something I'm very passionate about and it's not something that takes energy from me IYSWIM (quite the opposite, it's invigorating).

Ipsos thank you for spreadsheet info and also for the article tip-off - so sweet of you to think of us. I've got a meeting tomorrow at work and they'll have the paper so I'll photocopy the article then. :)

Ugh it's so dark and dismal today! I'm so glad we don't have to go anywhere. DD gets picked up by another mum for Brownies now (mum is also my colleague and she knows I struggle, she lives very near and she offered :)), and DH isn't going to the area meeting after all so he will be able to pick her up as normal. Will be NSD for me anyway, and DH has borrowed my bus pass for his journey back with DD.

I haven't actually got up yet Blush DCs have a little more time to play (DD's just made her Lottie doll - which I unearthed yesterday during a tidying session - a Brownies uniform out of yellow and brown fabric scraps :o) and then we're doing some home ed before trying to do some more tidying. I'm quite achy but the living room needs doing - I'll take it slowly. Very slowly.

Hope everyone has a great day :)

fuzzpig · 02/03/2016 09:26

Oh crap I just realised that I'm not going to get my annual leave pay :( like east our year runs Apr-Mar and we are only allowed to carry a small percentage over (so being PT it only amounts to a few hours). So I'll lose all the rest. Bugger. I had at least 20hrs left this year I think.

They did offer me the chance to take some of my leave a while ago in order to get back to full pay earlier (as I would no longer have been on sick leave technically - playing the system a bit but it was their idea!), but I knew I wouldn't have been well enough to go back after anyway, so I didn't do it.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 02/03/2016 09:31

Snowed last night. Just a bit. No boiler though so chilly. The house is an ok size, but luckily the chimney breast runs up the middle of the house, so the log burner heats two bedrooms as well as the downstairs room. Dp is going to strip it down tonight, his reconing is that it already doesn't work so if he takes it to bits and can't find whats wrong then it's broken anyway. Am cross as I now need to wash my hair at dp's little business premises, the sink is the smallest ever, and my hair is very long.

Have had to ask exp for money. Its like a game. I hold out as long as I can, ask (grovel), and he goes, ffs be patient, money is on its way. We agreed the 25th each month Hmm. He earns $$$$ as an expat. Controlling much? We have been split up for 9 years.

Will have to get some basics from Asda on my credit card today, promised myself I wouldn't do this, but don't have enough in my current account to get to tax credits if I go shopping as well.

See the frugaleering last month was good, I'm up to date with everything, but it falls to bits when you have to wait weeks for money you rely on. Plus I started from a complete head in the sand place, so it might not be so fantastic this month as I'm already being careful iyswim.

Sorry for the rant, it makes me so stressed! And YAY girlie (what incompetent arses). Double check everything you get from them.
