bababoom & fuzz interested to hear your thoughts on haven. I've been looking at Craig Tara in Scotland for first week of June. It has mixed reviews. We will have our car so not tied to spending every day at the campsite.

Ipsos · 13/01/2016 10:25

Collie I bet there's someone on your housing estate who used to be a hairdresser and wishes they could go freelance visiting people in there houses. That's what happens in my home down and the lady we know charges £15. Maybe you could put a sign on your fence and see if any passers buy ring you?

fuzzpig · 13/01/2016 10:56

I've had one Haven holiday before and we all had a lovely time. We paid the extra to guarantee the nicest level of accommodation ('prestige' or something equally poncy sounding! :o) and it was fine, full kitchen etc. We don't have a car, but we just had a chilled out time on site, it was lovely having the pool (there's no way we could afford to stay in a hotel with a pool!). The one we are going to is near a lagoon type place and lots of wild areas apparently which really appeals, and we might make one day trip out to the observatory/planetarium (and do a space project around that time). The one we went to before had activities which were fun, archery, fencing and pool stuff etc. We've not prepaid for any this time because I'm not sure if they will be running in term time. They had a playground too so should be able to just hang about really, we'll pack a few card games and stuff.

Collie ask on FB if you're on there, mobile hairdressers seem to go by word of mouth round here :)

We had a lovely Haven holiday at Berwick upon Tweed, in 2012. There was plenty to do on site, like swimming, archery, kids' club, etc.; fairly decent meals at the bar; within walking distance to a lovely beach, where I saw a swan in the sea!; and right next to Berwick town and not far from the train station, so no need for a car. It was the last week in August and chilly at night though, so the gas heater was very welcome!

lilacclery · 13/01/2016 11:38

A friend of mine lives near there creme
The activity pass mentions most activities being for 8+ and mine will be 6 & 2 so I'm not going to bother with that.

I was looking at the apartments as they're £30 cheaper for our 4 nights than a caravan.

BaBaBaBoomBoom · 13/01/2016 12:22

We love haven, mainly for the evening kids entertainment, we use it more like a base in the day to go out and explore from. We tend to do one day at the beach, one day exploring the local town / aquarium type thing, and the two half days on site!

lilacclery · 13/01/2016 12:33

Think I'm going to book it so. Once it's clean we're not that bothered after that

fuzzpig · 13/01/2016 12:37

Thank you for the kind words BTW, I somehow missed them earlier Thanks pain is still quite bad today, think I'm going to cave and take my stronger, mustn't-take-all-the-time meds. But actually having a really nice day with my DCs today. Last term I really didn't feel like we were doing well with home ed but the new start this term has actually gone really well, we've done lots of little things that have been very easy for me physically and the DCs have been really enthusiastic. So I'm feeling pretty positive overall :) thank you all for being so supportive though. Love this thread :) Thanks

Anyway, DH is on a half day so that always helps, he's going to take the DCs to the park later and I need him to pop to the doctor's for me as I forgot my stuff had come off repeats. Think I might need to think about one of those prepayment certificates, although both meds are now supplied 2 months' worth at a time because I pleaded with the GP to do so (pharmacy is hard for me to get to, as no bus comes back up the hill to get me home).

Need to attack the living room though, as have a pupil tonight, actually two but the other one I walk there as it's very near. Hoping the short walk and fresh air will help (it's not raining ATM anyway!). And the money will be good although one paid in advance last time so it's only one lot today.

Oh crap and I just realised we need £25 subs for Brownies. And around £40 tomorrow for Badgers uniform. Pricey time of year!

Got a safety notice on my tumble drier. Wish they had to replace it rather than repair it Grin

I've had mine done on Sunday spotty. Send them a Facebook message with your details if you want a fast response, otherwise it's weeks and weeks!

SpottyTeacakes · 13/01/2016 13:30

Oh I'm not in a rush Grin

Whataboutnodetox · 13/01/2016 13:35

I was quite scared of it catching fire. I waited from November and then contacted them on facenook and got s response quite quickly. Apparently not all the forms get through properly. He changed a lot on mine to stop tjthe lint getting to the heating element!

Ipsos · 13/01/2016 13:36

Creme I went to that Berwick Upon Tweed holiday place every Easter as a child. I had relatives near there. It was great. They had horse riding in my day too, and a farm nearby where we fed lambs.

What's Badgers uniform Fuzz?

SpottyTeacakes · 13/01/2016 13:39

Oh right! Ours is seven years old now I'm surprised it's still going!

fuzzpig · 13/01/2016 13:48

Badgers is the youngest section of St John Ambulance :) it's kind of like Beavers/Brownies etc in that they work towards badges although obviously there's more of a first aid slant on it. They're really enjoying it. Must set up a standing order for the fees too (only £6 a month each) - they only charge once they're officially enrolled, so they've had a whole term free! Thankfully uniform is only a shirt, cap and sash so not as much to buy as for Beavers etc (and they ordered in bulk to save postage cost) :)

Bugger! I have sat on my arse playing with Pinterest for the last hour while DD napped, I was going to do another kitchen cupboard. At least I haven't bought anything!

fuzzpig · 13/01/2016 14:11

I'm not feeling very productive either Pointless! Should be tidying up but... meh!

Me too, but on the plus side, I'm doing a fabulous job of pacing myself since the holiday .

Also staring stupidly at the internet for hours on end is basically free.

fuzzpig · 13/01/2016 14:23

That's true! :o And well done for pacing.

Thanks Smile Also to you! Smile

Ipsos · 13/01/2016 14:27

I had a meaningful conversation with ds yesterday. It was quite exciting. I mean as a step on from him tantruming and me counting to three endlessly and cleaning jam off his face. I really enjoyed it.

I think I'm going to have to learn to play computer games in order to keep getting these conversations, which may be tricky but I'm starting to think I could possibly try.

fuzzpig · 13/01/2016 14:27

:)

OP posts:
FantaSea · 13/01/2016 14:27

I am pacing myself too - I have loads to do but I am so tired from work that I think I deserve an hour on the computer to myself.

I am waiting for my Tesco delivery - I have the 3-4pm slot as it is only £1 delivery Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 13/01/2016 14:28

I'm also busy doing nothing Blush ds is in a toddler bed still and he needs a proper one really. Anyway I was looking at bunk beds but have realised it's cheaper and makes more sense to get a high sleeper for dd then ds can have dd's bed underneath in an L shape. Then if we're every lucky enough to move to a three bedrooms house they'll both have beds for their rooms already.

I've put on a stone in six months. My consultant was not impressed Blush oink.
