I hate that girlie, have you looked online?

Pointless I'm not being very good this month it seems but I've got twenty odd hours overtime to come so will make sure I 'pay back' anything I've gone over. I always find January so hard, I think because we always spend loads in December you get used to it a bit.

That would be good ipsos!

I've got some (very different) boots on back order from the next sale. I know I should cancel it but I don't really want to...

Those boots are fab, SpottyEnvy.

Sounds good about the grant, ipsos. Did you send off your books to webuybooks.com yet?

I was thinking of Collie yesterday too. Maybe she's doing a no-Mumsnet January?

Glad you're feeling brighter, SuperSmile.

Spends today: £5 cash on bus travel for DS (yes, a child all day bus ticket really costs that much in DurhamAngry) and £10.60 on my card in Costa.

fuzzpig · 09/01/2016 20:07

Bloody hell. Just for fun (Hmm) I did a sum formula thing on our spreadsheet... we've spent over £370 in 9 days! Admittedly, almost £100 of that was the money I was given for Christmas, and £24 was a heater, but still. WOW. That is scary.

£9.72 game (from Christmas money)
£7.91 DH in Coop
£8.25 bus
£15 dance fees (1 month)

Ursulatodd · 09/01/2016 20:12

Lovely boots spotty! Oh your poor pony need Sad I would have been freaking out (I'm a bit nervous around horses anyway)

I'm officially shattered - dh was on a course all day so I entertained DD, cleaned up after the builders, primed our four dining room chairs, took DD to gym club and batch cooked lamb koftas...Hmm doesn't sound like much but I'm beat, this is the first time I've sat down all day!

£11.35 b&q, £2.70 gym club, £2.40 coffee, £5 lamb mince, 50p coriander.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/01/2016 20:14

Oh no need I bet that was awful for you all! My aunt got kicked in the face by a horse when I was younger. She's got metal plates keeping it together now.

Oh need! Poor pony, hopeful forgotten by DPo now.

Ordered a book for my friends birthday. It's going to be late, but never mind. No other spends today. Tomorrow DS has a trial of football club, it's quite Good value and he has some Christmas money that'll cover it.

Dinner was party food from the freezer we didn't eat over Christmas. Was nice and easy to cook especially as friends turned up for a play part way through and j could just turn the cooker off for s while.

Tomorrow the tumble dryer engineer is coming to make a modification. It's part of a recall so needs doing and it'll be free. I have no plans to spend any money!

NK5BM3 · 09/01/2016 20:43

Lovely boots spotty

Paid £68 for hair cut and colour. Frugal dinner out of freezer. Defrosted rice and made fried rice. Had some chicken goujons too. I had lasagne.
Also made frugal broccoli soup with the stems. Some were frozen stems from previous broccoli which I kept. And stock. Yum!!

Ememem84 · 09/01/2016 21:15

Bit of an indulgent baked Camembert and tapas dinner. So much for healthy eating. But it was free. Parents had one too many in their fridge (first world problems there) and gifted us one.

Dh made bread for dunking and roasted veggies to have with it.

All that was missing was wine. dam dry January

I'm tucked up in bed now. Nothing I want to watch on tv. Dh is gaming. Weather rubbish. Can hear it blowing a hooley outside so an snuggled up with laptop a million blankets and winter 14 tog duvet.

Girlfriend36 · 09/01/2016 21:56

babsmam · 09/01/2016 22:01

Hope collie is OK too and needapony and needafamily.

AdoraBell · 09/01/2016 22:31

£7.25 in the post office posting passports off for renewal. Also about £165-ish on line doing the applications.

Will catch up later.

bootygirl · 09/01/2016 22:43

Spent too much😳 €20 on credit for DS who is going away next week. €15 to both going to meet friends. €3 on coffee with friend. €27 in Holland & Barrett cent sale ie enough magnesium for about six months. €45 on food and non food in tesco😔

That's €170 on food from 5th till 12th (refuse to buy anymore)!!

FantaSea · 09/01/2016 23:53

need sorry about your pony.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 10/01/2016 06:05

Adora dh passport has expired and ds2 needs one dreading the cost we were going to go away in summer but Oct half term is cheaper eseas our half term is early also its our 10yr wedding anniversary end Oct so all in all seems better time to go. I want to go to Dubai or further make most ds2 travelling free as will be 23mths but dh wants a shorter f?ights so Greece or canaries with his choice we may also afford a short UK break in summer too with mine def not!

Pointlessfan · 10/01/2016 07:00

Sorry to hear about needapony, I've had some er...exciting moments with horses in the past, I bet it was scary. Hope you are all ok now.
Can't decide what to do today, ideally something free. The weather has ruled out the park for the last couple of weeks.

NK5BM3 · 10/01/2016 07:17

need scary episode with pony!!! Thanks

ipsos been meaning to post this - maybe of some use? http://www.daphnejackson.org
I might have remembered wrongly but are you from a STEM background? These offer fellowships to people who have had a career break and want to go back into research or a STEM career.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/01/2016 07:18

We'll be nsd today. Got the village children's after Christmas party this afternoon.

I'm going to make pea and ham soup for lunch.

OP posts:
needastrongone · 10/01/2016 07:59

The cost of passports are mad aren't they? Sympathies there definitely.

Thanks all. The pony is fine. Slightly favouring his good leg but just skin cuts really. We've had worse. They are just big animals when they panic, as you will know pointless Smile

It sounds like a LOT ursula, no wonder you are/were tired!

Spends today will be the cost of hiring an arena to do some training, split between a few of us, so about £10-15.

Feeling slightly pissed off too, but not sure if IABU? I wasn't well at all last week, but still got up and got DD to the stables at 6am every day, and worked and carried on my business. Friday night, DH says 'get me up at 8.30 and I will walk the dogs', today it's pissing down, so I've got up early and taken DS to do his paperwork (only do this when weather is dreadful), DH half heartedly did a 'want me to do it?' but rolled over.

All Christmas, I've had 'get me up at....', which I have, but I end up waking up all the time, thinking who I have to get up and not really sleeping from 6am.

Thread derailing, but can't DH get himself up?!!

needastrongone · 10/01/2016 08:00

paper round, sorry.

needastrongone · 10/01/2016 08:00

Pea and ham soup is my favourite soup!

babsmam · 10/01/2016 08:01

Nsd planned but have no plans after church anyway so that may change

SpottyTeacakes · 10/01/2016 08:19

Of course he should wake himself up! Next time hand him an alarm clock Grin

Just done an online birthday party food order for £28.0 for 30 kids, it wasn't frugal all branded items but I shopped around for deals. Very pleased as I did similar for my ds's party last year using lunch bags and we had no food waste as kids took the bags home if they didn't eat it all at once. I was horrified when one mum said she'd spent £800 on her daughter's 5th party, I just can't and won't spend that amount. If I had £800 earmarked for a party I'd spend £250 on the party & £550 on premium bonds as a birthday present as it's more beneficial for my dd

The entertainer is costing £150
Hall £30
Food £28.00
Cake £40.00
Party bags £15.00
Decorations £10

babsmam · 10/01/2016 08:30

Well I'm not £33 million better of, back to frugalling

Pointlessfan · 10/01/2016 08:37

Not at all unreasonable need. Pleased pony is ok. I used to ride a particularly lively pony who decided to jump a barbed wire fence (not with me fortunately), she was cut all up her legs, superficial but she looked so sorry for herself.
Just need to buy a can of coke today as DH is making cola ham in the sc.
