Ipsos that's awful, and especially at this time of the year

ipsos · 05/12/2015 16:39

It's a lot of money isn't it? My contract is normally £7.50 a month so £94 was more than a year's mobile phone charges right out of the blue.

Colliejollychristmas · 05/12/2015 16:41

Love how a big Vodafone banner pops up on mumsnet as I'm reading this. [santa]

CremeEggThief · 05/12/2015 17:02

What a pain in the neck, ipsosXmas Angry. Last thing you need is a huge mobile bill, after spending loads on all your decorating!

Glad you had a good night, Girl.

NSD here. A friend of mine donated a 32 inch telly they no longer need and a tub chair. I accepted both, as it's very kind of her, but I'm itching to get rid of something now. DS will be glad of the bigger tv for gaming and it might entice him to do it downstairs in the kitchen/diner, as he claims his bedroom tv is too small, when I've tried moving it down before, and the tub chair fits nicely in the study/laundry room.
I HATE having too much stuff in the house. I have a real problem with having things we don't use, even if we have plenty of room, and I'm alays thiking of or finding stuff to go. It's almost as if I'm addicted to decluttering. Strange, I know!

Girlfriend36 · 05/12/2015 17:13

Blueteapot would it be very bad form to ask you a medical question?

Wink

Dd was stung ystd by a bee on her side, ystd there was a small amount of redness and a puncture wound but today there is a large red area about 8cm across and 6cm down slightly raised up. She is saying it is painful and itchy, do I need to do anything? Am putting an anti histamine cream on frequently. Not sure if i should be worried or not!

needastrongone · 05/12/2015 17:25

Bloody hell ipsos, pile of shite that is. Any possibility of the Ombudsman re the lack of communication re change of T&C?

I love the idea of a community orchard Simon.

Meal plan

Tonight - Lamb shoulder roasted with coriander seeds and orange, roasted pots, parsnips and carrots roasted with maple syrup, leeks.
Sunday - Carrot and orange soup.
Monday - Mackerel and leek risotto
Tuesday - Squash and lentil soup, spicy celeriac soup.
Wednesday - diced pork in creamy sauce, veggies.
Thursday - Pasta bake.
Friday - Roast chicken and trimmings.
Saturday - fritatta and sweet potato wedges.

Pointlessfan · 05/12/2015 17:37

Ouch, ipsos! That's the last thing anyone needs just before Christmas.
Had a great time choosing our tree, we live near an enormous Xmas tree farm and they have reindeer and things so DD was in her element! Going to decorate it after she's gone to bed otherwise she will "help"!
Just making a lasagne, it smells amazing!

SpottyTeacakes · 05/12/2015 17:53

Girlie I think she needs antibiotics or maybe steroid cream? I would def see pharmacist for advice.

Just curled my hair and realised its v v windy outside Hmm

CremeEggThief · 05/12/2015 17:57

It's scary, watching the pictures of flooding around our region, on the news right now. Sad

babsmam · 05/12/2015 18:18

I know creme I'm glad I'm up the hill.
£85 in morrisons!

Girlie hope dd is OK.
Ipsos that's shite. I had retention ring me a couple of days after I got my pac code unless they have stopped doing that.

Colliejollychristmas · 05/12/2015 18:48

Creme it looks scary. Stay safe northern Frugaleers. I can't wait until I'm a northern Frugaleer.

Girlfriend36 · 05/12/2015 19:56

Thanks Spotty typically it has started to calm down a bit now so think will wait and see how it looks in the morning, if spread any more will talk to OOHs. How is your little boy now?

Am surprised the school didn't ring me actually when it happened, esp given that dd struggles with pain due to sensory issues at the best of times! Luckily it was my day off so i picked her up but she could have easily been in childcare for another hour or more.

lilacclery · 05/12/2015 20:35

ipsos what a horrible bill just before Christmas.

collie you did very well on your instore shopping.

I got out for an hour from hospital so treated myself to chicken satay & fried rice. Went to aldi for water & fruit & then back to hospital, will be here until Monday at earliest.

Pointlessfan · 06/12/2015 06:34

I hope all of you in the north are ok and safe. If looks awful on the news.
DD woke me up at 5.40 this morning but I have forgiven her because of the look on her face when she saw the Xmas tree, she just lit up!
Either having a day out today or doing Xmas baking depending on weather.

fuzzpig · 06/12/2015 07:01

Yikes ipsos what an awful bill. We have had similar issues with both Vodafone and Virgin before. We use giffgaff now which is great (we pay a fiver a month each for some texts and minutes, and also pay the same for my two DSDs, and can all contact each other for free) and love that it's not a contract, the disadvantage is that you have to have the phone already and it needs to be unlocked so more upfront cost.

Thinking of you lilac and anyone else with poorly DCs, and of course anyone facing flooding, so horrible :(

ipsos · 06/12/2015 07:34

Need There's no redress on the phone problem because I actually twigged somehow that the cap had been dropped a few months ago and they have me on tape asking about it. They said I'd have to ring a different line to ask to get it put back on though, and I didn't have time to go on hold again so I dropped the ball. Nuisance though. Tesco do caps automatically, so I should be just fine with them.

Good luck with all that crazy weather. It's a howling gale here too.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/12/2015 07:38

Ds is ok thanks still coughing loads.

My step brother has had to evacuate his house due to flooding Sad

Well last night we spent a grand total of £0! Because everyone else decided to pay for us as it was for dh's birthday.

MrsSimonNeil · 06/12/2015 07:49

Sorry to hear about flooding, how horrible. Stay safe everyone.

Girlie, i hope your dd's sting is feeling better today. I can't believe the bees are still out in December! This mild weather is crazy

How lovely of your friends to pay for you both spotty. What a lovely thing to do Xmas Smile

We spent about £6 on drinks at the party last might which just about used all the money in my purse. Today I'm not planning on going anywhere so it should be a NSD. Ds was poorly in the night and I have lots of studying to do so it will be a day in the house for us.

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/12/2015 08:38

Girlie I'd get her to see the gp just in case she is allergic to bee venom. If she is I dont think they can have honey dressings for wounds either.

Ipsos I'd still chance it with the ceo of vodafone, £80 is enough to buy 5lts of naice paint for the hall.

£10 on work stuff and takeaway on friday
£34 on mil xmas present on saturday but dh will give me half back.

Dh ate more crisps out of the xmas stash, the man who cant find stuff when he's looking for it can find crisps hidden behind 3 slow cookers and a bag of 1200 teabags. He will buy me more to make up for it.

Colliejollychristmas · 06/12/2015 08:45

Haha! fluffy that made me laugh. I had a rough night. Suspected appendicitis etc. I'm home now but A&E on a Saturday late night is a shite place to be.

DH has to pick up DSs stocking fillers from Mothercare today. My eyes are dry and my eyelids feel scratchy. I feel rough as old boots. Hopefully a NSD.

Xmas Sad
Colliejollychristmas · 06/12/2015 08:46

Hoping everyone is safe after flooding. Flowers

babsmam · 06/12/2015 08:49

Ipsos I hear you about the phone bill and don't want to keep on about it but aren't 0800 numbers supposed to be free from mobiles from 1 July this year? Maybe it depend on your t&c?

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 06/12/2015 08:53

Oh no collie are you ok?

needastrongone · 06/12/2015 08:54

Gosh collie, sounds awful. Hope you are ok.

Glad the sting feels a bit better for your DD girlie, the only time this happened to me was when the sting travelled up the vein a bit, wondering if this happened here?

lila Your poor little DS is in the wars, how is he today?

Hopefully another LSD, myself and DD are at an awards ceremony, so will have to buy raffle tickets, but that should be it I hope.

Ememem84 · 06/12/2015 09:01

Hope you're ok collie and girlie's daughter

Yesterday was not too spendy. £25 for riding lesson. Then £14 in garden centre on posh chocolates for dad, and tinsel. Dm treated me to tea and scones.

£2.40 in waitrose for red Thai curry paste.

Made the curry put the suggested amount of paste in and then a bit more because it was a "uk brand" not a "Thai" one. Smelled good but no heat. Sad tasted ok. But no spicy kick.
Won't be buying that one again.
