Due to ill health I defaulted on several loans/ credit cards
I am now on a monthly payment plan, but still owe £'s
If I pay off a debt in full how will that be reflected on my credit history? Will it show repaid but still cause me problems for the next 5 years?
Thanks

Yes, it shows as 'settled' but the defaults stay for 6 years. I think they get less significant as time goes on.
If your debts are currently interest free you might be better saving up to see if you can get full and final settlements for a discount?

If you pay off in full it'll show as "settled" but any defaults will still show.

If you pay a settlement figure, it'll show as "partially settled", which shows other organisations that you didn't pay it off in full.

Both stay for six years.
