Emem that's so sweet Smile

Fellow frugaleers I'm not sure I can cope without the heating much longer. I've got pjs, dh's hoody and a blanket but my nose and hands are freezing. The dc's room is cold too and dd struggles with asthma in the winter so we might have to turn the heaters on low...going to be a frost in the morning.

fuzzpig · 07/10/2015 19:14

Thank you babs Thanks

I really wish my job was less physically demanding as if it was a desk job or just the customer service element I'd probably manage a lot better!

But on the positive side, at least now I know I have tutoring to fall back on. So if the day job goes, I may look at building that 'business' up a bit (slowly!) - it's much more flexible and easy for me as pupils just come to me for half an hour and I don't even have to move!

Wolfcub · 07/10/2015 19:50

Thanks for the new thread cremeegg

Pointlessfan · 07/10/2015 19:54

Bad news about your tap pink I hope you can get it sorted cheaply.
ipsos is that an electric oven that costs 50p an hour? That would go a long way to explaining our electric bill!
Managed an NSD today - hooray!

NiceandaSlice · 07/10/2015 20:25

100 already! Can't keep up!
Yesterday was a NSD - £20 for a work event, can claim it back, nothing else.
Today was also a NSD and I just listed some designer boots on eBay as I never wear them, they are beautiful but I don't need to keep them under my bed and they were prob bought on credit in the first place!

TheOnlyPink · 07/10/2015 20:26

fuzz going to stop using the tesco lentils. Can't take the risk with coeliacs imo. Even if they don't feel the pain, the gluten is still damaging them. Ds 2 especially, he's only 3, so doesn't really link to what he's eaten and the results. I rarely use them in their food, but still!

Thanks for all the kind words on the tap. Dh stuck a makeshift funnel type thing that will get us through until tomorrow, but it's a nightmare, needs fixing. Going to try lidl, they have kitcheny things this week afaik.

Apart from the cable ties this morning, it's been a nsd. Convinced my mum to come to my house instead of a cafe, so saved petrol for the 26mile round trip, and cafe money.

Hope everyone is well. Feel I'm being very me me me posting lately.

CremeEggThief · 07/10/2015 20:39

Hope Lidl can sort it for you, Pink.

Had to go into town for a meeting about DS's forthcoming school trip to France this evening, so £7.60 on travel and £4.55 on a doughnut and hot chocolate each, but one of the hot chocolates was free with my loyalty card.

I am so looking forward to the last episode of "Dr. Foster" tonight. It's really gripped me. Anyone else a fan?

Me creme! Although I love bake-off too I can't wait for it to be finished!

Life-fail today - forgot to pack dd's swimming bag. We go straight from work/nursery so no time to go home. I popped into local charity shop to see if they had any cozzies but no (and I bought a mini-Bowden top for 99p - whoops) so decided to miss the lesson. I've only forgotten kit once before since starting in March and that time I spent £22 buying a costume and towel from the pool shop (and dd lasted 5 mins before I had to take her out because she was poorly!). DH will take her at the weekend to make up for it. We visited the library instead - always a frugal win right?! :)

CremeEggThief · 07/10/2015 21:06

I've done that before, Ursula. Maybe twice in fact.Blush Let's go for "Dr. Foster"!

fuzzpig · 07/10/2015 21:09

I'm going to watch Dr Foster on catch-up. Everyone keeps going on about it so I thought I'd give it a go! :)

Ursulatodd · 07/10/2015 21:09

Grrrr Angry DH isn't back from the gym yet so I've got it on record...il be 10 minutes behind - no spoilers! Grin

annatha · 07/10/2015 21:31

What's Doctor Foster about? I saw it advertised. Waiting for dh to get home so we can watch the Bake Off final (no spoilers either please!) but I think I know who won already thanks to Facebook.

Whatabout · 07/10/2015 21:33

NSD. I managed to find enough jars in the cupboard to put my mincemeat in so I've made and jarred it and it will go in the garage. It made quite a lot so felt like quite good value. I'm going to make gingerbread syrup for drinks next, just need to source some small cheap bottles. Nice to do something productive. We ate freezer food for dinner, I'm trying to make space so I can batch cook some soup for lunches. We often buy fresh soup, but at a £1+ for two portions I'm sure I could do better.

blueteapot · 07/10/2015 21:41

No Dr Foster spoilers please! It's fantastic. We have watched episodes 1&2, DH is working a late shift tonight so tomorrow / Friday night we will finish it!

Today has been spendy but I have done well for the money. Bit of xmas shopping. I sorted out what we already have. My boots order (£23 worth of gifts free with points) came in so I went to collect it, and also got 3x duplo gifts in their 3 for 2. Need nappies (3 packs for £8) and baby milk too. Had a points voucher, so I spent £44 in total and got 500 points back too.

Had a £10 M&S voucher so I bought a few boxes of chocolates to go into gifts.

£21 in B&M on some stocking filling stuff, sweeties, and some things we needed for the house.

So spent £65 today but came away with quite a bit and some points back.

Dinner at my parents and then took DS a walk in the local forest, which he loves. Bath time and he went into bed like a little lamb he was so tired. Hes still up multiple times in the night so I'm hoping an extra outing this evening will tip the balance.

Can't believe the thread has moved on so quickly! Welcome new folk, chin up to those who need it and congrats to electrolux on the PIP!

Pointlessfan · 07/10/2015 21:54

Wilkos is good for bottles and jars what, so is The Rangs.

Whatabout · 07/10/2015 22:24

Thanks pointless, I'll brave those tomorrow and try not to get over excited in the range!

AuditAngel · 07/10/2015 23:13

Hell all, welcome Newbies. Wow, do much to catch up on.

Well, the solar panels look really good, but we have to take the finance out ourselves. According to their observation estimates (using higher finance rate and low estimate for efficiency) we'd be £83 a month better off.

They also told DH shout a wood pellet boiler. They'd deliver pellets monthly, so wouldn't need to do £800 orders. The downside is the installation cost, but government subsidies exceed cost by 25%. I'm much less sure on this as the cost is much higher. So looks like panels now, maybe new boiler next year?

I also have a mirena foil, due to the problems with my last 2 pregnancies, the consultant wanted to be sure there would be no accidents. I use always silk towels on the rare occasions I need them. I used them so much when pregnant, and only the silk ones didn't cause irritation from the covers.

Spends since Sunday? Monday, travel and to London and £0.20 parking to reclaim, plus diesel also to reclaim. I waited and had lunch at home.

Monday £9.99 for a Latin dictionary for DS.

Mum gave me £50 towards shopping.

Tuesday £7 for lunch, a couple of bits left in fridge. £5 for slimming world (lost 1.5lb), take away £10.40

Today £5 for DD1's karate lesson. Lunch £10 for lunch bits and pieces.

In Winchester tomorrow, looking forward to the drive, back there on Monday.

DD2's birthday next Tuesday, need to get a cake, plus second cake gif her party. Going out on Sunday, depends on weather, perhaps Chessington.

AuditAngel · 07/10/2015 23:13

Oops, meant hellO, not to curse you all Grin

AuditAngel · 07/10/2015 23:14

Oh drat. You know what I mean

babsmam · 08/10/2015 06:33

Bake off final was good and a worthy winner imo.
Unexpected vets bill of £79 and back on Friday again. Poorly ddog

Pointlessfan · 08/10/2015 06:54

Hope the dog's ok babs

Ememem84 · 08/10/2015 07:00

Am hopeful for nsd today. I made lunch last night (piripiri chicken rice salad), am walking to and from work (dh bought me a fitness tracker wristband for my birthday so I'm walking everywhere I can at moment to increase my steps/activity) so saving £6 on parking.

He's out for dinner so I'm having freezer soup tonight.

And will list wii and Xbox on Facebook/eBay.

NK5BM3 · 08/10/2015 07:26

Hi audit glad you found the panels a good thing. We've definitely not regretted it. Even during winter dark days, and there's less sun, I feel good that at least some of my electric is given to me from nature! Grin

Hello laska welcome back!!

Lsd today. Having a coffee with a friend re work stuff this morning.

Binglet · 08/10/2015 07:51

Hey guys! Hope you all enjoyed Dr Foster as much as we did. And very chuffed with Bake off winner. I won't say anymore to avoid spoilers.

LSD Monday/Tuesday - just 45p on a cup of tea each day

Have £200 security deposit coming back through from weekend away. That's going straight into the Living room fund. We have made the decision to decorate before Xmas. Have told DP it HAS to be finished by Xmas. He tends to start and not finish and I refuse to have Xmas in a 1/2 finished room.
Quote from plasterer friend for whole room £280 inc materials which is fabulous. But hoping we won't need everything plastered. Fingers crossed for frugal good quality walls under the wallpaper.

No spends planned for today other than 45p cup of tea. I know I could do it myself but it's a faff to sort kettle and stuff out and the tea lady is fab.

Have reduced our big CC credit limit down from £4500 to £350. As I had a feeling with decorating we may think "fuck it" and spend on it. We currently put all our petrol on the CC and pay it off in full each month which is about £200-250. So I've given us £100 leway and that's it. Just need to cancel the other two empty CCs now so we just have petrol one and our big £4000 one which we've just balance transferred too. 0% for 36months but we will be paid off before that. I'm determined. Two years and we will be debt free apart from mortgage.

Have a good Wednesday everyone.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/10/2015 07:55

Bing we've just transferred £5k onto 0% also hoping to have it cleared in two years. Going to set up £200 standing order and pay any extra dh gets through overtime.

Going to John Lewis today to meet a friend for coffee I have a voucher so will just pay for ds.
