Thought I'd start a shiny new thread as we've filled the other one so quickly.

So since joining this thread I have received
£50 from Levi
£7 Waitrose
£25 Next
£25 PlusNet
£10 M&S
£20 local restaurant

compensation for poor quality items or poor customer service. Would never have dreamed about complaining before becoming a Frugaleer!

Professional complainer Moi?? Grin

fuzzpig · 08/09/2015 15:45

Wow! How did you get the £25 from Plusnet? I keep meaning to try and change my contract with them.

annatha · 08/09/2015 15:57

fuzzpig the spreadsheet is a great idea, I'll try that. My problem is that some people are really easy to buy for and some are a nightmare, so I'll buy little bits and bobs as I go along and realise that x has got loads of presents and y has nothing. My dd will only be 1 and its her birthday in November so we're thinking of getting her clothes and a couple of small toys but she'll probably be more excited by the wrapping paper. If ds arrives on time he'll be 6 weeks old so he's getting his sisters old Xmas outfit and lots of cuddles from the family.

Collieputthekettleon · 08/09/2015 17:41

Our Christmas is costly because DH and I both have large families and there are a lot of children to buy for. And we like Christmas food (but not much)

ipsos is your family small? Do you have many nieces / nephews? We even have 4 step families between us. It's ridiculous. I love it though. I have had depressing Christmasses ever since my Grandparents died. They made it magical for me. Sad

DS has been a monster today! I am SO tired. I had to buy milk at the shop for a survival cup of tea. So that's ??1.75 for 2 pints. Gotta love local shop prices.

peppansalt · 08/09/2015 17:52

Fuzzpot the ??25 from Plusnet was for poor customer service/mis information. Apparently we are a Market 1 exchange which apparently means we can be charged whatever they like Angry. I wasted loads of my time emailing and phoning trying to establish why our bill was so high. Took several attempts to get a clear answer.

I am on the Christmas bargain thread but not sure how well it gels with my Frugaleer/Kondo efforts. I seem to be ordering loads of stocking filler shit for the DCs just because it's cheap Hmm. Need to make sure I'm not buying just for the sake of it.

babsmam · 08/09/2015 18:06

Annatha gift wrap a big box of balloons if you don't mind balloon. Cheap and kids love it.

SpottyTeacakes · 08/09/2015 18:12

Peppa...it's only a bargain if you need it Wink I wasted loads on the bargain thread a few years back but I'm much more restrained now!

annatha · 08/09/2015 18:24

babsmam she'd love that, thanks!

Whatabout · 08/09/2015 18:27

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/09/2015 18:31

Gabriel's a lovely name. Congratulations!. He looks a big boy too.

Star Awarded for dedication to the thread.

lilacclery · 08/09/2015 18:34

He's fabulous what congrats!

Collieputthekettleon · 08/09/2015 18:35

Congrats what on your NSD! Grin Gabriel is SO gorgeous.

FlowersFlowers have a speedy recovery FlowersFlowers

ipsos · 08/09/2015 18:42

Congratulations what. Take care of yourself there.

I understand better about your Christmases now. We have a tiny family. 4 grandparents, dh and I have one sibling each, only one of whom has a partner, and neither has children. Ds gets so many presents and so much fussing at Christmas that it honestly gets beyond sensible, but he's a bit short of company of his own age. I do worry a bit for the future as he's the only one who will be left of the whole extended family once our generation goes. (Unless I somehow exert myself, but I don't think that's on the cards.)

peppansalt · 08/09/2015 18:52

Whatabout - what a gorgeous bundle, congratulations!!! Hope you are feeling ok.

574ejones · 08/09/2015 18:55

What Congratulations on your beautiful baby!

??2.60 hot chocolate - I now know why I don't go out more often, I could almost buy a box of dolce gusto pods for that!

fuzzpig · 08/09/2015 18:55

Yay what! :o Gabriel is absolutely beautiful, and a fab name too. Welcome to the world gorgeous boy!

peppa I wonder if I'm on that too with plusnet, we end up with crazy bills and it's just because I'm too disorganised to phone them that we're still paying it.

I stay clear of the bargain threads. I know I'll just end up buying more. Instead I have loads of wishlists where I save ideas throughout the year so when it gets close to Xmas or birthdays I can see what's good value and worth buying from the lists. Even then I still end up buying last minute unexpected bits and pieces!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/09/2015 18:56

What he is soooo squishy congratulations Flowers he's gorgeous!

fuzzpig · 08/09/2015 19:04

Anyone else broody now? :o

Lovetoknit · 08/09/2015 19:06

Congratulations what Flowers but please stop making me broody Grin

NSD today
Sausage and bean casserole for dinner made in the slow cooker since dd has ballet today so we didn't get home till after 6
Need to start looking for presents for dc, they usually get one big presents and couple stocking fillers. Luckily dds still like their dolls so I shall be making mini clothes again.
We usually do hampers for grown ups and money for teenagers. I know it's boring but I think it's better then wasting money on junk which sits unopened at the back of the cupboard.

Pointlessfan · 08/09/2015 19:13

Congratulations what he's beautiful and yes I'm now broody too!
Tesco allowed me to exchange the dress with no receipt. Couldn't see anything I liked so I got some tops for DD for next spring/summer as she has loads of winter clothes.
Remembered it was my step mum's birthday yesterday so got her a belated card and pressie, that was ??15 I hadn't allowed for.
I have a meeting with the bank tomorrow to discuss if I have the right sort of current and savings accounts and if they can do my mortgage at a better rate.

babsmam · 08/09/2015 19:21

Ah baby what is gorgeous. Gabriel is a lovely name.
Anathana we did a mix of helium and not for full effect. The box was big enough to sit in so was played with for ages.
Result on the dress pointless, better than a wasted tenner.

Dh gone to football ??20. ??3.50 on shoe laces, ??3 in morrisons on snack I didn't need.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/09/2015 19:39

Pointless That's a sales pitch type meeting isn't it?.

Ipsos Our xmas is expensive because we go to a hotel for two days and spoil ourselves. It has very bad wifi so we are forced to put the screens down.

I really hope Gabriel is a boy and I haven't got it wrong. The letter from the hosp to my gp describes me as a "healthy baby BOY born by c section". I am definitely a girl. It didn't get better because my mum dressed me in blue, kept my hair cropped short and I was a chunky thing.

??10 cystitis tablets for the cat.
??8 on an LED bulb for the bedroom light.
??5 on glass beads for a light fitting.

Ememem84 · 08/09/2015 19:41

Congratulations what he's beautiful!! X

??42 on haircut today.
??4 on butternut squash, naan, chilli for tonight's dinner. (Jamie Oliver's daal from last nights super foods if anyone's interested. Bloody lovely)

Laska42 · 08/09/2015 19:43

aaaagh! new thread since ive been gone and loads of posts!!.. I still have to YNAB after weekend visitors and spends, but couldnt read and run without welcoming beautiful Gabriel Whatbaby

Congraulations What i hope you are feeling well after the birth.. Flowers

Back later.. xx

Pointlessfan · 08/09/2015 19:47

Fluffy I thought that too but the account they are suggesting has no fees and they will give me a tenner a month if I pay a fairly small amount into my ISA every month for a year which I do anyway so I thought it wouldn't hurt to see what they say.
I'm definitely not signing up to an account with a monthly charge as I used to have one and it was a complete waste of money.
