Dd had a blood test when she was two. They wouldn't use the cream as she has eczema but she didn't feel a thing.

ipsos · 07/09/2015 18:11

Good luck what!

TheOnlyPink · 07/09/2015 18:26

what best wishes for tomorrow! Hope everything goes really well!! Flowers

Thanks everyone for the tips on the cooking apples, dh gran gave me a bag and I was wondering what to do with them to make the best of them.

Ememem84 · 07/09/2015 18:28

Lsd today. £1.70 on milk. And a cheeky packet of skittles

babsmam · 07/09/2015 18:45

Good luck what.
Spent the day sorting toys, made pasta sauce and strawberry jam. No more strawberry now but loads of gooseberries and brambles. Need to go to the allotment as apples and beetroot are ready. Need a muslin cloth to make the spice vinegar.

Anyhow £68 sainsburys, £3 on party Bags, 3.72 on mince and about a fiver in the coop

babsmam · 07/09/2015 18:46

It's tough girle when it's so important to do something but it is hard balancing that with the cost.

Collieputthekettleon · 07/09/2015 19:13

It's been a beautiful sunny day. Made another few pounds on eBay so that's £62 in total! I think. Very shocked.

Spends are : £10 on Venetian Blinds. £10 on some play food for DS. I honestly shouldn't have spent it. No more toys for DS until his birthday in November. Role play stuff helps him with his speech and I couldn't resist it BlushBlush

Toddler group was fab! And as we are all new there are no cliques. Which I was a bit scared of. Grin

574ejones · 07/09/2015 19:21

Leftovers with chips for tea - always feels good to eat up the leftovers. £48 Next - 2 pairs school trousers and one complete bargain pair of lined curtains!

I freeze my apples by chopping them, putting them in a cold bowl of water with a little salt, then draining and freezing. This is something my Mum did - not sure if there is any science behind it. You can also freeze the crumble mix before it's cooked, so can have apple crumble from the freezer in a flash.

AdoraBell · 07/09/2015 20:12

Ooooh a baby Grin good luck What

I've had a spendy dayBlush £57 on various things, fruit, vests, fish, reduced croissants for DDs, seeds and I can't remember what else Blush

Tomorrow DDs need £6 each for books.

Lovetoknit · 07/09/2015 20:13

Good luck what for tomorrow Cake
Really nice day here today too, I guess it's no surprise since dc are back at school
Great news about toddler group collie
Found dd's reading folder under the bed Grin and already had a grumble from dc about early bedtime on school night, something you definitely don't miss during the holidays alongside the school run.

ohhelpohnoitsa · 07/09/2015 20:14

Back to work today after nearly 7 weeks off and guess what..I have work to do tonight.
Feels good though ... nice to not have to spend on anything although I did buy a coffee on my way to work as my thermal cup seems to have losts its rubber ring and hence leaks!!
Just feel like I am getting through this month. September pay packet will just about get me straight as long as I have a frugal October. Dh hasnt noticed but we havent had a shopping delivery for about or 4 weeks. I keep doing mini shops at lidl or morrisons and making do wirh what us in store.
Good luck what - such a lovely time meeting and falling in love with you newborn.

NK5BM3 · 07/09/2015 20:21

Good luck what!! A baby. Wow! Grin

Spent £8 on car wash and a mini valet. The car was a dustbin. Even the man was shocked.

Work is getting tricky with all the juggling. Now just received email from boss. Argh. I will reply tomorrow am. I need a strategy. Wtf is a strategy?! Hate this.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2015 20:29

Good luck What.

Sounds a shitty situation NK.

JemimaMuddledUp · 07/09/2015 20:36

I've been lurking on this thread for a while, but am now coming out of the shadows...

We need to get a grip on the budgets as I've been covering maternity leave in work at a Grade above my usual pay, but this comes to an end at the end of the month and so I need to tighten the household belt.

We are a family of 5 - me, DH and 3 DC aged 13, 11 and 9. The things that work against us sticking to budget are the fact that DH and I both work FT which doesn't leave a lot of time for cooking, the sheer volume of food that growing teenage boys eat and the number of activities that my DC do.

September is cheque writing month, I've just paid out for Brownies, rugby, football x 2, trumpet lessons, piano lessons, violin lessons, drama club... I just hope all of the cheques don't come out of the bank on the same day!

The only money that I actually spent today was £10 for my weekly travel pass, plus just under £60 for an online Tesco shop (which is coming any minute). I have meal planned to the minutest detail, and both DS1 and DS2 have switched from school dinners to packed lunches as the prices have gone up again and I refuse to pay £2.10 for a bowl of pasta and tomato sauce!

peppansalt · 07/09/2015 20:59

Good luck What - so exciting!!

fuzzpig · 07/09/2015 21:09

Eeeek! Good luck what will be sending happy vibes to you tomorrow!

annatha · 07/09/2015 21:09

Hello all mind if I join you? I've got a 10 month old dd and due ds on 16th nov so money is tight on two lots of mat leave (which will be followed by nothing as I'll be staying at home with the babies) so dh and I are really trying to cut back. We do our shopping almost exclusively at Aldi now and have saved loads doing that and I'm finding that meal planning and using my slow cooker lots helps too.

All this talk of foraging is making me jealous, we used to live in a little rural village and at this time of year had more apples, blackcurrants, elderberries and raspberries than we could eat. I hate buying stuff that I could find for free!

Pointlessfan · 07/09/2015 21:16

Good luck what - so exciting!
I've done well today - NSD plus I cashed in a load of points on a survey site to get a £10 John Lewis voucher and Quidco paid me £1.76 so I'm almost 12 quid better off today!

Ememem84 · 07/09/2015 21:32

Good luck what !!

AdoraBell · 07/09/2015 21:36

Welcome Jemima and athana

Collieputthekettleon · 07/09/2015 21:45

Good luck what

Ello Jemima and athana

northender · 07/09/2015 21:51

Good luck what
collie glad the toddler group was okay.
ejones I use that method for apples too. Prevents browning allegedly.

£91 at Aldi today, £29 at Booths. However, that should do us for a couple of weeks except for fresh top ups. £20 at sports direct on a couple of base layers for under ds' brace. He wanted Nike which would've been £50. I agreed as long as he paid the £30 extra. He soon changed his mind! Good news though, he's off painkillers and seems to be managing well Smile

I think I need my hair cut. I keep thinking there's a huge spider on my shoulder but its just my dark hair. It has grown much faster than usual Confused can't have spider paranoia as we head into the Autumn. I keep squealing and flinching already.

Last year we had a lot of huge harry potter style spiders in the old house. Partially why we moved into a new build Grin

Anyway, guess I should budget for a hair cut!

babsmam · 07/09/2015 22:19

Hello jemima and athana.

Good news about the group collie.

Passthecake30 · 07/09/2015 22:22

good luck what! Flowers

Catered for family after a funeral today....I suggested a takeaway, they said "too expensive for you" (who said I was paying ha ha) so I nipped to asda and got naice ham, chicken, new pots, bread, salad - £15, way cheaper and healthier than a Chinese eh.

£220 on annual subscription to the local gym. A huge bargain on the £70 per month posh gym I used to go to pre kids....

£50 petrol.

We have an apple tree up our road, I picked some of the bigger ones off there the other day and we had a crumble and enough for another one. Waiting for the little ones to grow - but not too long as don't want the neighbours to strip the tree before I get more! Though so long as they are short neighbours I'll still get some, being tall has benefits Grin
