Thought I'd start a shiny new thread as we've filled the other one so quickly.

Pink I had to clear loads of toys out of my fireplaces to take those photos. Nice to know that you are the same. It's a good way to be. Smile

Nice When I was a teenager our cats used to only eat one kind of tuna and the company that sold it kept going out of business and reappearing under a new name. My Mum was constantly playing Guess-The-Cat-Food in Tesco.

Also when we lived in France in the 80s, our British cat would only eat UK Whiskas, and my parents had to bring box loads over in the car. Cats are strangely picky.

Girlfriend36 · 18/09/2015 21:30

Envy at all of you living in nice houses with fireplaces (functional or not) I just have a ancient storage heater to gaze at!!

My cats seem happy enough with Butchers cat food, sometimes they sell a load of tins off quite cheap in Lidls or Aldis. For the most part though they eat Iams which cost a fortune Grin

Have just popped dd into bed after watching Frozen with her and singing very loudly to all the songs and eating popcorn - was fab!

Got the hairdressers in the morning for dd to see if they can sort out the two tufts she has post comb stuck in her hair incident ystd, think that will be £14 ish. She tried on the dressing up costume and leggings but only liked one pair of the leggings, everything else was 'itchy' apparently Hmm so will be going back.

Don't suppose anyone in the South West wants a cat/kitten do they? Our local animal shelter keeps sharing posts on fb of cats needing a home, they are completely full atm Sad I would adopt them all but think two cats is enough for us.

Passthecake30 · 18/09/2015 21:45

Just taken delivery of my Tescos order....£104 Shock, and that was with a £8 discount voucher

I'd tricked myself into thinking I'd reduced my shopping bills recently...and then everything ran out all at once Blush

Am sitting wrapped up in a blanket. My nose is still cold though! The thermometer is showing 21'c so it's not cold enough for the heating yet!

babsmam · 18/09/2015 21:53

Sigh I need to get a plumber in as I have a build up of little jobs. The most recent is the battery on my heating control.

Something at sainsbury today but I forgot to ask dh how much. I reckon £20 from the list he had.
£8 beavers
Tomorrow dance and no football for DS as he has done something to his leg

Lovetoknit · 18/09/2015 22:01

NSD today
Dh and ds are watching rugby commenting very loudly so I don't need to sit with them to know what's going on Grin
ipsos we have an open fire after we removed a small homemade woodburner which didn't work properly. After we had the chimney swept, we found out there is no flue in that chimney so you can only have open fire there. Luckily we found a local woodburner/open fire guy who was able to put new heart in and fire cement all around it. We bought the fire grate from Trago and generally burn wood (free pallets or from the fallen trees from the garden)and bit of coal

lilacclery · 19/09/2015 00:45

pass that's happened me loads with groceriesSmile

I was thinking of you guys this eve when I put on fluffy socks, pjs & a dressing gown rather than heating or an open fire. It wasn't really cold just I'm premenstrual & wanted to be nice to myselfSmile

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2015 06:25

Girlie we have a fireplace, blocked off with a storage heater in front of it SadAngry They won't let us open in up due to health and safety ffs.

Going to lidl this morning then a lady is picking up the pushchair but from my mums as it was her eBay I used.

ipsos · 19/09/2015 06:49

Pass I know just what you mean about the shopping. I do bulk buying and when it all runs out things do get rather more expensive. Smile Sorry to hear you're so cold.

I like your fire lovetoknit Smile Sounds great.

That's a shame about the fire spotty. What a nuisance.

Collieputthekettleon · 19/09/2015 07:17

I love trago lovetoknit the one in Falmouth hasn't changed for at least 20 years. It's like a time capsule.

May buy some new pants but I have a sainsburys gift card so it will be free!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/09/2015 07:22

Haven't been to Trago for ages. I might go and do that at some point.

babsmam · 19/09/2015 07:51

Collie can you wait a couple of days. Rumours is the 25% off is on from Tuesday

northender · 19/09/2015 08:03

Dh's family love Trago, when he was little a trip there was turned into a family outing and they would even have a pub lunch nearby too! I can't abide the place, I know there are bargains to be had but it just doesn't do it for me. They already view me as a bit odd I think and my lack of love for Trago just compounds that Grin

I didn't spend yesterday but dh went to the cricket club last night to watch the rugby with friends so he wil have made up for me not spending.

Today will be spendy, we're going to a bbq this afternoon (need to take some drinks & a pud) then I'm eating out (work colleagues leaving do), dh & the dc are going to the end of season party at the cricket club.

Tomorrow I'm taking dd to a car boot sale which she's really quite excited about. It's local so minimal cost to get there, I don't plan to buy anything & if dd wants to then it'll come from her money.

Have a lovely weekend everyone Smile

babsmam · 19/09/2015 08:31

I wasn't keen on trago (sorry)

blueteapot · 19/09/2015 08:51

Love to knit your fire is beautiful! It looks all periody with those beautiful tiles :) our 'period' fireplace was sadly from the 1970s period and was a huge angular crazy paving monstrosity that took up one wall of the room!

Should be a LSD today but will see how it turns out. Just been informed by OH that DS wet our bed overnight (sigh). He got up so many times he got in and I got booted out to his single for a sleep. Any toddler sleep tips? We are exhausted. He goes to bed fine but is then up at night at least 4-5 times crying half asleep inconsolably / letting himself into our room :/

fuzzpig · 19/09/2015 09:05

Yesterday ended up expensive. As well as a present/card/giftwrap for a children's party (showing how I really need to stay prepared for such things) we ended up getting a taxi back as DD stayed til late. OTOH looks like I've sold the match ticket and have also got an unexpected extra tutor session next week. Thankfully I'm basically over the bug now. :)

fuzzpig · 19/09/2015 09:07

Oh and I guess I saved a bit by telling DS he isn't getting his pocket money this week, as he had an EPIC, hugely embarrassing, nonsensical strop. At our new friends' house. Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2015 09:27

£52 in lidl. Need to go to tesco for deodorant and face wipes plus anything else I've forgotten.

Pointlessfan · 19/09/2015 09:46

Oh my goodness I've had trouble checking in on here the last couple of days! On Thursday I was at work for 13 hours, got home at 8.30 with just enough energy to watch Eat Well for Less with a piece of cake and then crash out. Yesterday I couldn't get on Mumsnet at all, it just wouldn't work. It still won't work on my phone which is weird because I had no trouble with that when everybody else was having problems with the app. I think my phone is just knackered! Anyway, DH has taken DD for a walk so I'm having a quiet 5 mins with a coffee and the pc!
Not spent too much this week though. I got a quick bite to eat at a very cheap pub near work one day - burger, chips, onion rings, extra bbq sauce and a soft drink for £6.40! Yesterday I treated myself to a coffee after work but it wasn't very nice so I might not bother the next time!
I think we might manage a NSD today or tomorrow but not both as we need cat litter.
Going to catch up with the thread now.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 19/09/2015 09:54

Morning all! Quick pop in to wave as we're just packing up the car to head off on holiday to Norfolk Grin Going to probably be a bit more spend than usual obviously but it's our last holiday with DD before baby arrives, so kind of want to spoil her. Fortunately, we got a really good deal on the cottage as it belongs to a friend of FIL. Have got some Tesco Clubcard vouchers to go to a zoo up there and a National Trust pass through one of our bank accounts for family entry.

Bit annoyed as decided to top up my phone data for £6 this morning as down to my last 10% for the month Angry Wouldn't normally bother and just be a bit more careful, but figure it might be good to have with going away. May get the chance to check in while away, if not have a lovely frugal week!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2015 10:03

Meal plan for the week, in no particular order:

Beef stir fry
Beef casserole
Spaghetti Bol
Shepherds pie
Meatballs and spaghetti
Chicken goujons with chips
Umm seems I'm one meal short and eating lots of beef I'll add tuna pasta salad in.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/09/2015 10:37

I have serious fireplace envy too.

I'm watching ewfl, omg how much stuff do they have in their cupboards? I had oil and a tin of tomatoes before yesterday.

Collieputthekettleon · 19/09/2015 10:45

babsman wowzers! Thanks for the headsup about the TU sale Flowers. So excited to get new pants! Haha.

ipsos · 19/09/2015 10:57

Blue our guy didn't sleep through until after his fourth Birthday. My advice would be to put him in nappies at night and co-sleep if that's what makes life feasible. He will sleep through eventually. We managed by having two double mattresses side by side so there was room for everyone. Much happier that way.

AuditAngel · 19/09/2015 11:38

Snoring all. A big spends today. £34 in Waitrose, including joint of beef for our wedding anniversary dinner (anniversary today, but DH working due to rugby World Cup).

£29 for my hair to be cut. £2.50 for anniversary card and £49 for bottle of cognac for DH present.

DD2 is going to a party today, but I already have the present and card.

May pop to a friend's for a bit (and leave DD1 there) but waiting for DS to get back from helping at school open day as I think he forgot his keys, definitely forgot his phone.

Unescorted · 19/09/2015 12:02

I am having a lovely quiet day.... Dh & Ds out on their bikes Dd out with her mates. It is blissful Grin.

I am having a 3rd go at making the perfect sourdough loaf. The first attempt was so bad I threw it out. The second was almost OK, but stuck to the rising basket so ended up a bit deflated. Hopefully this one is going to be OK.... fingers crossed. I have a strange line in hobbies - bread, sausage and beer making.
