Thought I'd start a shiny new thread as we've filled the other one so quickly.

Emem loads of patients have chest X-rays at work honestly most of the time they are completely clear. If there is anything it's usually infection. I've been there two years and only seen one code red and that person didn't have a cough they had a massive swelling.

My house is freezing. Ds was cold in bed so has an extra blanket and I've got pjs jumper dressing gown socks and a blanket. I'm still cold!

574ejones · 15/09/2015 19:17

£4 for school DT, otherwise NSD. Electro so sorry to hear this.

Pointlessfan · 15/09/2015 19:38

I decided to dig out my thermals today ready for winter but I can't find them except for one top. I can't imagine I'd have thrown into them out, hoping I've put them in the loft. I'll be really cross if I have to buy new ones!
I find that however warm I am my feet are always freezing even in summer. It seems worse if I wear two pairs of socks, I reckon it stops the blood circulating properly. I have thick furry slippers and I take a hot water bottle to bed, I really don't know what else I can do to warm them.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/09/2015 20:01

Channel four are showing the Battle of Britain fly past. We saw the spitfires go over as it's really close to us

babsmam · 15/09/2015 20:07

Flowers fuzz and Electrolux.

Digger don't worry about keeping up just keep posting so we know you are OK.

Nsd. Fabulous time at the bake sale. Everyone was very generous and lots of money raised.

NiceandaSlice · 15/09/2015 20:19

Hello ladies, can I join? Had a bit of an epiphany this week about my credit card debt and am determined to make some headway as with DH self employed we'd be screwed if anything happened to me. Have been a terrible spender on beauty products, treats for me and toddler DD and meals/coffees and feel a bit sick at the wastefulness :(
We already meal plan so I have been looking at cheap and quick options (I work 4 days a week and get home at 7:30) and tonight we are having this:
www.vogue.co.uk/arts-and-lifestyle/2014/01/hemsley-hemsley-quick-red-soup-paprika-lentil-tomato
I am going to freeze the extra for easy lunches for me.
I have not spent anything above budgeted "needs" today, cancelled a magazine subscription and switched my mobile to a sim only plan rather than the planned upgrade. Feel very daunted right now though Blush and hope joining in here will keep me on track!

AdoraBell · 15/09/2015 20:28

NSD. last night I gave DDs £6 between them for school dinner today. They'll have sandwiches for two days and then school has lamb hotpot on Friday so they'll need money for that.

Electolux I hope you get something sorted. I've been trying to think if I have anything I could send you but I left my really warm stuff for people back in Chile.

Hope you find your thermals Pointless

I find doubling up on socks is the only way to keep my feet warm. My heating isn't going on until I've had the boiler serviced. I'm okay wrapped up for a while longer and DDs like dragging their bedding to the lounge curling up in their duvets even when it's warm.

It's not as cold as the places we rented in Chile, I remember heating on full whack, £500 plus for the month and still snuggling under a duvet to watch TV.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 15/09/2015 20:28

Electro, sorry to read your post, it sounds totally grim. I was also going to suggest a thermos flask so you can have hot drinks throughout the day. And definitely checkout your local Freestyle/Gumtree/EBay - you can get some amazing things if you're lucky. Do you do any online surveys or market research? I belong to a couple and although you'll never make a fortune, it gives you an extra £10 here and there (or Nectar points on the Nectar Canvass site).

Pointlessfan · 15/09/2015 20:31

Welcome Nice!

Collieputthekettleon · 15/09/2015 20:32

Welcome Nice. I used to be addicted to treating myself Grin

I'm wrapped up in so many layers! I wasn't expecting it to get this cold this quickly. Have turned DSs bedroom radiator on (slightly) and put a fleecy blanket under his bed sheet.

Also put a blanket under our bed sheet and also a blanket on top. I'm searching eBay for cosy bargains

Passthecake30 · 15/09/2015 21:02

fuzz ds' s beavers is 6.30-7.30 and the following day is a bit of a struggle. Good luck! Fees are £120 a year and there are 2nd hand uniforms to be had if you ask?

Nsd, go me!

Ds cried himself to sleep about school again today. How rubbish.

Collieputthekettleon · 15/09/2015 21:13

Oh pass Your poor DS! Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/09/2015 21:15

Primark are meant to be really good for fleece lined tights, hopefully they have winter stuff in now.

www.britishgasenergytrust.org.uk/ You dont have to be a british gas customer to apply to these people. It has to be worth a shot.

Ememem84 · 15/09/2015 21:23

spotty thank you for that! I've freaked out to dh and he's said that if anything scary was there id a)have other symptoms and b) Dr would have spotted it and rushed me in.

So I'm feeling a lot happier. Also I for some unknown reason thought cheat X-rays were painful....apparently not.

Have just been to a sewing class. Slightly spendy at £180 for about 12 weeks. But I've learned loads. New skills. everyone is getting cushions for Christmas

Collieputthekettleon · 15/09/2015 21:34

I've just been going through some old clothes (mostly maternity). I found a brushed cotton shirt and a giant baggy knitted jumper both non maternity. Grin

My jeans ripped from my bottom around to my hip just now. Blush

blueteapot · 15/09/2015 21:38

Ememem dont worry we have guidelines which say if a person has a cough for x amount of time (or a few named symptoms) refer for a chest xray, so we send a lot of people for them - its just to be safe and cover all bases

Passthecake30 · 15/09/2015 21:39

collie people would pay lots fot jeans like thatGrin

blueteapot · 15/09/2015 21:44

And no they dont hurt at all, you just stand in front of a little screen, they'll position you so your arms are raised to get your should blades out of the way and tell you to take a big breath in and hold it - just to get the best pic possible. Takes a few seconds then thats you

Freeandsinglewater · 15/09/2015 21:46

Fuck me what a day. It's been fine until I got to my parents house and then I got involved in family stuff. Groan..... Sodding people......
I've spent £47 on my dads birthday stuff.

I've not got the heating on yet, I'm making sure I shut the windows before the sun goes down, and using the heat from cooking.

Ememem84 · 15/09/2015 21:52

blue thanks to you too. I know it's just a precaution. But was still worried.

Will wait and see what the X-ray shows I guess. And will work on getting rid of cough. Any cough medicines worth getting? Dr hasn't given any thing. So I'm how drinks, loads of water, healthy diet, and echinacea. And a hot water bottle.

blueteapot · 15/09/2015 21:57

Sometimes time and a bit of R&R are the best thing really. Flowers to all the folk not feeling well, autumn has well and truly set in :(

Girlfriend36 · 15/09/2015 22:13

Pass my dd really struggles with school as well. She was in tears last night saying she feels 'different' to all the other kids, she has 'no friends' Hmm and 'everyone' is mean to her'

Think the transition from school hols to being back in school is tough, am hoping she will settle down in a few weeks. If not will speak to her teacher, she is ridiculously sensitive though and takes any comment from another kid to heart.

Welcome nice this thread is excellent for making you reign in the unnecessary spends as you are to Blush to come on and admit to them!!

Looks like might be going on holiday to Menorca next year (Whitson) - very exciting! My mum has found a website called owners direct which is brilliant, showing up loads of lovely apartments priced very reasonably. Will book easy jet flights and hire a car, budget for a week for me and dd will be £500 for everything!

fuzzpig · 15/09/2015 22:34

£60 joining fee for beavers?! The message I got said £11, maybe (hopefully) yours includes uniform or a lot of subs (£12pcm here too) rather than doing that separately!

Pass and Girl sorry your DCs are miserable at the moment. Agree about the transition from summer being hard - and it might sound terribly British but I really think the weather makes it worse, miserable rainy mornings etc.

Currently ordering tesco for tomorrow - so much for waiting til next week. But top-up shops will end up more expensive I think especially given that I'm not up to preparing much myself! Hmm

Lovetoknit · 15/09/2015 23:17

Flowers electrolux and fuzz
Welcome nice
NSD today
Yesterday I paid £72 for ds trombone lessons at school and today he was really unhappy and tearful at pick up time and according to the teacher most of the afternoon because he doesn't want to learn to play it anymore. He doesn't think he can cope with practise on top of the extra homework. Luckily the teacher said I should get the money back and not to worry about it - one small step forward, 3 big steps back Sad
No heating on yet, just put extra blanket on dc beds and on my side of the bed too since dh never feels cold.

babsmam · 16/09/2015 06:28

£60 joining fee. I would be interested in what you get for that. We are £2 a week and less than £20 for the uniform.

Another nsd planned
