We have sort of goldeny-yellow LED lights, they don't hurt my eyes at all. Slightly worried that they may blind us all now though!

Sweetkitty it's one of the worst things about not having the space to not use an over draft, it just makes the next month harder. I used to have a column in my budget for bank fees, it made me sad! I'm hoping my expenses will pay off my credit card this month and for the first time in forever I won't be spending money on actually nothing.

Passthecake30 · 20/08/2015 23:21

Hi frugaleers, I aarrived backfrom Majorca this evening and I am a little bit too delighted that we are promised 2 days of sun so I can get the washing on the line! Wonder if I can borrow the neighbours line. ...Grin

Spent £170 over budget, some due to the fact it pissed down with rain 3 days and we had to eat out/get taxis into town to entertain ourselves. Now I'm home thoughts are turning frugal in order to make cutbacks to save up for next summer. ...

£72 tesco shop coming tomorrow. .. £8 is 4x Venus blades and £3 is 6x Tepe interdentals....if anyone knows cheaper options please let me know??! The blades will last months anyway....I don't shave my legs often, that's frugal, rightWink

babsmam · 21/08/2015 07:00

Proper laughed at circumcised cock and collect Grin
I have loads to do today and got a day off. Collecting a number of orders, few jobs, attic to audit winter clothing, hedge in garden is coming out, get set for weekend camping x2.
Not sure I'll get up to Durham before 31, shame.

babsmam · 21/08/2015 07:03

They toys r us music reminds me I need to look for a stunt scooter. I checked out Smyth toys as they do a 25% weekend in September for the new catalogue but they don't have the one.

I keep meaning to go in to town but I never have enough cash on me for the bus. And after a few settling in sessions at nursery I still havent worked out how to get DS there (we have done settling in sessions when DH has holiday from work) Its just a tad too long to walk and buses dont go directly there.

Buses amd nursery fees are actually going to break the bank. Shit

needastrongone · 21/08/2015 07:38

Welcome back pass. Crap about the weather in Majorca of all places in August!

I have password changed but not name changing, I am not on the list.

Just about to take the dogs out.

I did end up spending yesterday as I bought DS 2 pairs of swim shorts, spent £30. He wears adult clothing. He's not fussed about having designer labels, and happy to get most of his stuff from Primark, but their swim shorts were dire, so these were in the sale at Debenhams.

Everything we buy this year will be fine for Florida next year though.

Today I have some lamb defrosting, just DH and myself and DC are out and about today.

I need to buy a birthday present for DD's friend.

And bank transfer some money to buy DD's new pony.

The business is doing well, so I have gone a bit chilled about spending and I need to STOP!!

Audit - I am with Marks and Spencer for my home/contents insurance.

Frugal win/Life Fail yesterday. Got a message from BingDogs walker, he slipped his harness when out with her and as he is one of these bloody useless dogs who doesn't like other dogs got himself into a scrap. She's now refusing to walk him. Angry. I know dog walkers are probably a pointless expense as we should do it ourselves but I've recently gone back to work full time after being part time so he's on his own a lot. Going to speak to DM who loves him, she may offer to pop and see him in the week for us.

Frugal win however as it will now mean we save £100 a month in dog walking fees! And I need to get fit! Silver linings eh!

Collieputthekettleon · 21/08/2015 08:44

ipsos I guess he doesn't need nursery but he loves it.

Also they are a very popular nursery and I need him enrolled now so when I have a job (I'm still looking) I don't have to go further afield to a nursery that's crap and has loads of spaces.

This happened last year. Almost had a great PT job but no nursery had spaces within a 12 mile radius! So I had to decline the job Sad

I just bought DS a gorgeous coat on EBay for £3 Grin

Ursulatodd · 21/08/2015 08:48

Oh bing hope doggy is ok, poor thing. Surely if someone has set up a dog-walking business they are prepared for pretty standard dog behaviour like this? I think you have got a silver lining there though by saving so much each month.

collie I was going to suggest a bike too. Maybe see if you can borrow one to test the journey first. I can do my 5 mile up-hill commute in 40 minutes (without small child) and on the way back it takes 25 minutes to give you a rough idea.

Hope you had a lovely London break spotty!

Spendy day yesterday... ?20 on random amazon crap, vitamins etc. ?4.50 on crap food at the local shop that totally negates the benefits of said vitamins. ?22 getting the car valeted. ?18 on a pair of jeans for myself. ?16 on extra food for camping.

[Shock] it looks really bad written down.

Decloaks from lurkdom Hi, all. I've been reading along for a while, but thought it was about time I said hello. Smile

I'm a single mum to 2 teens (one at Uni, one with me at home) and after a particularly protracted divorce I now need to wrap my head around my new, somewhat reduced, financial status. Luckily, I've managed to offset my drop in marital income with a 12 month temporary promotion at work, however, I'd ideally like to return to part time work after the year is up.

Divorce has made me reevaluate life, and I want to live for me rather than for a wage, if that makes any sense! I want to feel more in touch with community, and.. well... with real people, I suppose, rather than possessions. I think what I'm trying to say is that I'd like to work really hard this year to squirrel away income, if I can, and to resist the lure of shiny new things, to see if part time work could truly be a financially viable longterm future option.

I'm hoping it's okay to use this thread to mindfuck mindfully consider whether I really need new gadgets etc now that I've shared my secret longterm aim with you. Smile
