Fathers Day Idea (no spend)

Not sure if this is the right place to post. Have been so busy recently, with a complete life overhaul (financially related)

I have to say, Fathers Day completely slipped my mind, until yesterday . Anyway, I wondered if anyone had any ideas to help make it a nice day for DH, without spending any money (don't have any - so budget ideas aren't possible either)

I thought about getting DC to make him a card although not sure if that's ok?. Just want some sort of way to make it a nice day. Simple is fine too, I'm just feeling quite exhausted at the moment, so may miss something that is a good idea. Plus its always nice to hear what other people do

Home made card is much better. Do you have ingredients to make cakes or biscuits with the dc?
Kids could make a voucher book
Cup of tea
Foot massage
Daddy's pa for the afternoon etc

Making a card is great! Also, do you have ingredients to make a cake? Ooooh or a loaf of bread!! And DC could bring him homemade toast in bed!

I would love to make home made bread, and cakes with the DC. I am however, useless at baking (DH does the baking here!) Am more than willing to give it a good try though. Any recipe suggestions? I dont even know what I would need, to see if I do have the ingredients in.

You could make elderflower cordial for (almost) free.

We never bother with the citric acid as it's a pain to find and the recipe works fine without it.

Basic sponge needs eggs, self raising flour, caster sugar and butter

How about tiffin / fridge cake - chocolate (melted Mars etc work fine) and anything you can find like crushed biscuits, marshmallow, nuts, dried fruit. Basically melt the chocolate and mix everything together. Can add a little bit of butter or some golden syrup to the chocolate before mixing

I have the eggs / self raising flour / butter. No castor sugar though..

Normal sugar will do it,

120g of each self raising flour,
sugar
margarine or butter
2 eggs
Table spoon of milk.

Put all in bowl, whisk to death with an electric mixer.
Put into paper cases. Bake gas 5 or elec 170 approx 15 mins.

Decorate with what you got.

Do you have access to a printer?

You could get the DCs to tell you words to describe their Daddy and put them into a Wordcloud and print it out. Super easy but thoughtful.

If you have a frame you could repurpose, of £1 for one from the Poundshop , it would look even better.

I'm doing DS's footprints with red paint, heel to heel diagonally, so that it makes a kind of heart shape...pop into a frame and your done!!

My DH likes a steak for dinner and a nice dessert. I know you have to spend out for those. Dd once made him a little book of 40 things I love about Daddy. It was really sweet and had things like "he wears big boots" so he could tell it was her own work.

We've done a "Daddy Jar" - got glass jar we had lying round, and DD (5) wrote down on little bits of card things that DC like doing with Daddy - e.g. "Go to the cinema", "Bake a cake", "play football in the park" - then folded up and put inside jar. DS (3) meanwhile stuck stickers all over it to decorate and we've tied some ribbon round it as well. Idea is that when they have a day free together, Daddy reaches into jar and they do whatever activity is pulled out. Free and promotes time together - perfect for Father's Day! Stole idea off a present website which was charging a ridiculous amount of money for a pre-made one. This one at least is personalised!

You can probably find them growing in hedgerows x they're tall green bushes with frothy white flowers - Google elderflowers- make sure to shake them before you use them to loosen any little beasties.
