Not tried meat, but i know a fisherman who supplies some shops etc and he said that if the packet says 'scottish salmon' in lidl etc and you had a pack from marks and spencer that said 'scottish salmon' chances are its from the same supplier.

So i think if the country of origin in brittish etc then the quality should be on par to that avaliable in tesco/sainsburies or whatever (obviously the same type of product)

Bacon is fine. I use their fresh chicken and mince all the time and it's lovely.

Had Lidl sausages this morning - the butcher's ones in the waxed paper packet. Enjoyed by all.

Used both. the dearest sausages are really nice. The butchers ones in the white plastic-made-to-look-like-paper are fine. The quite often have these on special.
We always have the smoked streaky in the freezer for BLT.

annielostit · 14/06/2015 15:51

All meats OK.
Minced pork was nice in lettuce wraps Friday, Irish recipe sausage even satisfy fussy mother. I love the smoked bacon in a BLT.

Ilikesweetpeas · 14/06/2015 15:53

The leanest mince is good, very little fat and tasty

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/06/2015 16:01

I found the steaks and lamb rather "watery" tbh but then I do freeze so maybe that's why.

The chickens ok I've had better and had worse.

sausages not keen on but they are ok for s cheap sausages .

bacon is no worse than anywhere else.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 14/06/2015 16:17

Not as good as butcher's but better than Tesco/Asda IMO.

Had pork shoulder for dinner today - very nice, especially for the price - on a par with Morrison's quality I would say (which is better than Tesco).

Wolfiefan · 14/06/2015 19:34

Had pork shoulder. Great as pulled pork.
Mince good too.
Chicken thighs fine.

Bacon is the same as supermarket bacon anywhere IMO.

The luxury sausages in the tray are excellent. The butchers ones are the same as the ones they're copying in the other supermarkets. The cheap ones aren't good, but they are very cheap (even for cheap sausages)

IMO most of the meat is as good as, if not better than the other supermarkets. In fact that applies to most of their products. It's a similar price to the cheapest range in the other supermarkets but the quality is the same as the next one up IYSWIM.

The bacon is ok.

Salmon fillets are lovely.

Bought the chicken fillets and premium mince but would not buy either again. Actually found bits of bone in the mince, grim.
