Shoeaholics, soletrader outlet & office ebay outlet do converse cheaply. Shoeaholics has usually got a discount code on the net.

£35 petrol
85p business supplies
£10 top off ebay.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/03/2015 15:11

Thanks fluffy I'm really after the converse dainty in white. They'll look so good with my denim dress that I'm not going to buy Grin I'm definitely not going to as I have no spare money.

needastrongone · 30/03/2015 15:49

Afternoon.

Spends - £40 in Home Bargains, however haven't been in ages and this was all cleaning and toiletries and air fresheners etc, plus easter eggs. They had Thorntons eggs for £3, retailing at £7 in Tesco. £13 in M&S, a reduced quiche and bread.

Sorry about the MOT babsmam

Pointlessfan · 30/03/2015 16:24

That's bad luck about the MOT babsmam.
I spent £48 in Asda which was the weekly shop plus light bulbs (again - I'm sure there's something wrong with the electric in our house we are constantly replacing bulbs) and a job lot of baby wipes. It doesn't seem to matter what I buy in Asda it always comes to £48 - weird!
Went to return a skirt this afternoon but ended up swapping it for a different size and buying a top to go with it - not a good start to my low spend week!

KateSpade · 30/03/2015 16:53

Thanks for the advice regarding weekly sessions, I've got a spot tonight & will try to go for another one next week!

I'm saving up for a car & insurance, a house deposit/move out fund & a nice handbag!

So far this year I've put £2700 away, so a good start to get things going!

babsmam · 30/03/2015 19:01

Thanks all. Ended up costing £115.20 all in but at least it's now past its mot.
Will need some new tyres and wipers before next year but not urgent.

4.50 on a yard brush and I think that's today.
Made a list of stuff for sainsbury 25% off clothes.
Roll on April

babsmam · 30/03/2015 19:03

One of the style threads had a lovely oasis belted denim dress. (not helping am I spotty :)) very tempted but as an apple inverted triangle I need to try carefully first

SpottyTeacakes · 30/03/2015 19:10

I'm too short for the oasis one phew! House of Fraser have some nice ones...

Pointlessfan · 30/03/2015 19:47

I saw a nice one in the window of Hobbs today too. I didn't dare go in!

Laska4 · 30/03/2015 19:55

Well.. ive just done my budget for next month and its looking challenging!
This is down to a few things..

Firstly, ive upped my pension AVCS/ (the Motorhome fund!! Grin) by £100 to £500 a month. So my take home pay has gone down.. However this is a very good deal as I only pay 80% tax on this so its only £80 going out of my account.. Also, though it sounds a lot , I think of it as mortgage ( DH pays that but its virtually finished now ) ..and im hoping to retire in less than 3 years now and for us to whizz off..

The second reason is that im trying (perhaps madly? ) to claw back in one month the whole of the £300 I just paid out of savings (leaving pretty much diddly squat) in advance rent for DS bedsit.. Can I do it ? well its in the budget , but ill see..

I also have about £120 on credit card this month ,(but some of that HOF stuff may go back).

So after biils that only leaves me about £450 to play with for food/petrol and other stuff.. (but I only budget my money , but do try not to tap DH up .. He has just paid out for our holiday and hire car and pays all the expenses in the place he lives in all week. but I might find that I 'have' to pop into supermarket thursday evening after picking him up from ferry hee hee.Wink)

I do have my £150 honorarium to come yet , but id like to save that if I can as its extra money

so spends to day were:

£37.01 on frontline/ drontal etc for the pesky fleabitten moggy , but thats 6 months worth.. (cheapest i found was on pet supermarket online through Quidco and with 10% new customer discount also if you are buying it)

£10.04 in 'penny lane' discount store. lots of ex- waitrose stuff.. some of it basics for DS.

£3.91 stamps
£6.40 on birthday cards
£300 rent in advance ..Hmm

Laska4 · 30/03/2015 20:28

ooh and of course as said upthread , being frugal is also about saving for what you want .. of course the motorhome dream is a really expensive long term dream

But theres £52 already saved since January in the £2 piggy and I have my eye on some Ancient greek sandals in pink metal for my holiday

LaChatte · 30/03/2015 20:42

Gah, parents evening this evening, went fine apart from one horrible mum who was, well, horrible.

€1 on three cheese scones things made by pupils, yummy.

AdoraBell · 30/03/2015 21:00

I've discovered that Desigual dresses fit me and they have a lovely new and full price one in their winter range. I'm waiting for the sales.

Kate a trick I used when my DH was talking about cost of counselingHmm was I told him To think of it not as a cost but an investment in my mental health and therefore, ultimatley, our marriage.

Just spent 80p on a bag of spinach and £3 on a snack for DD1. She came out of school 2 hours before t'other one and I'm not doing 2 round trips.

CaptainSubtext · 30/03/2015 21:10

Oh I love love love the desigual children's dresses! Some came up on amazon lightning deal recently and I really regret not going for it (would've been a birthday present for DD in summer, can't justify full price though) so beautiful and quirky!

Passthecake30 · 30/03/2015 21:37

Went to the kids easter fair that was a complete rip off....I am used to being ripped off at these things but even the kids agreed that it was a waste of money. Hook a bag at £1 to win 10p of sweets etc. £4-£5 spent and then I closed my purse, would've spent more if there was more of a fun factor about it!

Ordered some bits from Gap for summer but will probably all be returned and put a couple of bits on Ebay.

blueteapot · 30/03/2015 22:46

Hiya all! March ended up quite spendy so onwards and upward to April! We achieved one of our goals for 2015 - replaced one of our ancient cars - £3400 but I was pleased as we had that in savings so no loan and we got a brill car at trade in price from a relative who wanted to downside but didnt want the hassle of selling privately. Hadnt planned for it last month as such and it all happened quickly but had to sieze the opportunity!

So now I need to work on building back up savings.

Down to half pay from start of March which isnt great timing on the savings front lol.

DH is on board with the mortgage OPs - aim is to clear it by the time Im 40 which is 9 and a bit years away - should manage this if we OP £300 a month consistently so heres hoping!

Need to valet the car we're replacing and get it sold. DH SORNed it tonight so we can claim some tax back - works in whole months so wanted it done before 31st! Need to tax the new car from April 1st.

Hope you are all well xx

babsmam · 31/03/2015 06:40

Payday yippee

SpottyTeacakes · 31/03/2015 06:44

I'm so annoyed I had planned a nsd day indoors batch cooking but I'm at least one tin of tomatoes short! So it means a 15/20 min drive to tesco (waste of petrol) for that Angry

SpottyTeacakes · 31/03/2015 06:46

Also it's really windy here so I'm worried the power will go off when I've got the slow cooker on!

SpottyTeacakes · 31/03/2015 07:22

I've just spent £46 on make up. I had saved the money for this though and what I've bought retails at over £200. I know someone who works for this company

Iamnotanugget · 31/03/2015 08:02

Spotty can't you eek out the tomatoes with water and tomato puree? If you're batch cooking and use a little less in each dish it probably won't make much difference. I'm impressed with make up haul. Pre dc I had loads of lovely stuff and wore it every day. Now I have a very basic selection and 1 day look and 1 evening look as I only wear it a few times a year Sad

Weather is foul. May have to treat myself to a bus, £4 Shock otherwise should just be playgroup spends, £2.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/03/2015 08:06

Not really as I want to do a big lasagne for three meals and a chicken and chorizo casserole for two meals. Oh actually could just do one run in the casserole if it's going in the slow cooker couldn't i? Hmm I know if I go to tesco I'll end up buying something nice for lunch and some daffodils and something treaty for the dc!

nochocolateforlentteacake · 31/03/2015 08:21

Any manky tomatoes lurking at the back of the fridge?

SpottyTeacakes · 31/03/2015 08:23

Nope nothing unfortunately! I have plenty of tomato purée though....
