DS1 saved me some money yesterday. I rang a handyman about putting me a blind and a TV bracket up in DS2's bedroom and DS1 said "I'll have a go at putting the blind up" and he did!!! I'm not used to having a handy man in the house. I'm not trusting him to put up the bracket though.

Laska4 · 23/03/2015 18:32

only £1.50 into a work leaving collection (it felt a bit mean TBH, but it was all I had in my purse..

My weekend guests have cancelled so that means I hopefully wont have to food shop now until Friday and then only veg and flour..(ok and maybe some Wine also .. Wink. ill need petrol too.. but this is all budghetted for

However (with any luck ) ill have to stump up £300 in advance rent for unemployed DS (24) later this week (glad i finally have some savings thanks to this thread ). Unfortunately he has to leave where he is due to relationship breakdown but hopefully we have found him a decent bedsit ..

Yes... they still cost as adults you know Beware!! well they do if you right royally muck it up like I did it seems It doesnt stop when they are are 18.... HmmSad . However we are keeping all fingers crossed for the current round of job applications he has in ..

Pointlessfan · 23/03/2015 18:44

NSD - hooray!

NK5BM3 · 23/03/2015 19:55

Girlie have you looked on housetrip.com? They are like airbnb and we stayed in an apt in London and it was really nice.

NSD!

Oh, and I told London (the job offer) that I was turning them down. I felt so rubbish doing it. I also spoke to my boss and he'd not heard whether I was going to turn him down or not..it was so strange making small talk with him!!! Oh well. Headhunter understood my reasons as did the other boss. So let's hope they give me another chance another time...

needastrongone · 23/03/2015 20:38

audit I am sorry about your son. It's a hard age. I was going to suggest as the others have, that out of school activities would be good. I think also that if the school have highlighted the situation, they have a 'duty' to find strategies to help him. My nephew was a bit of a 'know all' when younger as a coping strategy, but now, at 16, he's a super young man. Karate has worked for him, and my own DS and my other nephew, all quiet, relatively shy kids.

Hope you didn't think I was lecturing re working for yourself btw Smile

girlie I started a 'London on a budget' thread in travel. I'll link when on another device. It was amazing, the suggestions and advice and knowledge was incredible, I hadn't thought of half the stuff suggested.

Think we've spent quite a bit this weekend. Been too busy to record. It was all cash, DH gave me £150.

Two lots of pony training (games, XC), then out Saturday and family round Sunday afternoon have meant I haven't planned this week all that well in terms of what I need to do and meal planning etc. Easier this week I think.

AuditAngel · 23/03/2015 22:43

Need definitely didn't see it as a lecture, but I know it wouldn't work for me, because the small clients is not where my skills lie. That is the great thing about being an accountant, there is so much variety.

After school clubs for DS, used to do karate but got bored, won't go back now as his younger sister has reached the same belt he left on. He loves sailing, do we will get him back to that now spring is here. He goes dancing, usually twice a week, but extra at the moment due to huge show. His teacher is very stressed and the kids are bearing that.

One of the other teachers is going to talk to him on Sunday and explain (as I have already done) that his teacher adores him, loves his character and shouts at him as she can see his potential and expects so much of him as a result. I think it will mean more coming from someone else. Talking to the school is a good idea, as they bought up his self esteem as hey consider it to be part of the problem.

I think he is a big run down at the moment. There is a nasty virus doing the rounds, he looks tired, I'll see how he is in the morning. He may get a granny day tomorrow.

Spends, £48 on diesel, to reclaim, tonight £11.80 on take-away dinner, 65p on tuck shop for the kids at dancing.

Yesterday £20 on uniform for dancing, 2 new t-shirts, also ordered and paid for 2 for another mum, got the money back tonight.

Yesterday £15 on McDonalds for dinner for mum, the kids and I after dancing.

babsmam · 24/03/2015 06:22

30 on diesel yesterday.

Should be a Nsd today. Think I'm getting the kid's lurgy as have woken up with a sore throat.

Hope you get somewhere with the school audit.
I think think it might be aldi voucher day on Thursday this week too.

AuditAngel · 24/03/2015 08:14

Babsmam thanks for the hint, I was going to go to Aldi tomorrow, I think I'll wait until the weekend.

Annoyed with DH, He decided to buy DD1 a bike for her birthday, did the research, said he was buying it. Yesterday he asked me to pay. I pointed out that I have to buy our plane tickets for the summer (est £1350) and he wants to go away for half term, will be hard to scrape together about £700, last week I bought theatre tickets for us and his mum, £135 and show tickets for him, his mum and cousin (£45) and now he wants me to pay for her bike! I told him to pay, we used my car after he said he'd give me cash, £140 on a bike and lightbulbs and he gives me back £100. I'm cross. (I'll sneak the rest out of his wallet at some point Grin )

Also, now I need to delete my card from his Amazon account again, or he uses my card to buy stuff and only owns up when I query what is on my credit card.

Need to buy salad and milk today, plus 2 Easter eggs for niece and nephew, plus eggs for my 3.

AdoraBell · 24/03/2015 13:12

Envy at donuts

£23 spent yesterday including using £8-ish in Nectar points. I'm constantly annoyed that they expire at the end of each month, other than summer hols, here.

Audit that would really annoy me.

NK well done on making the decision, hope it works out well for you.

SpottyTeacakes · 24/03/2015 14:23

AdoraBell · 24/03/2015 18:17
