DH and I have made it a resolution to keep better track of our spending this year. We just want to have more of an idea of what we are actually spending our money on. So we've decided to do a budget.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please of headings and breakdowns of what we should be thinking of? Whether it is your own list or something more formal. I dint want to spend any money on it though! I am sure that we are missing loads eg I've just realised that we haven't budgeted for haircuts.

Thanks very much.

Do you mean bills or things you buy out of disposable income? Or both?

Money saving expert has a free budgeting tool that lists everything you could possibly be spending your money on. Hth.

Thanks both. I meant disposable income. I also realised that I hadn't allowed for dry cleaning or birthday cards! I will look on money saving expert.
