Present ideas £10 or below for all ages?

We really need to cut back this Xmas, so going to limit presents to £10 or below. Does anyone have any good ideas for things that are nice, but won't break the bank - thinking about nieces and nephews 11+ and older members of the family 60+ really, but obviously anyone can exchange ideas for others.

I've came across a selection of scented candles in M&S discount for £3 each, so I've got a couple of those for friends, so that's two sorted.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

I think gift hampers/baskets are a good idea - so for a teenage girl (I have one to buy for too!) - you could include some nail varnish, some lip balm, some sweeties, a small scented candle, some nice hair clips etc. Or for a teenage boy some nice body spray, sweeties, enough credit to download a couple of tunes for their iPod. For older relatives, depending on what their interests are, you could do a gardening hamper, a baking hamper, a book bundle etc. Lots of these items could come from Poundland or similar.

Otherwise, I find older relatives really value photographic gifts - a photo mug of your DC or someone else dear to them, a photo in a frame or a few in an album. This never seems to get old as you can't have too many photographs

Second the hamper thing! I've made them for my parents inlaws and dil.
Nice joint one this year for anniversary was some fruit, blue cheese, pate salami box maltesters (mams favourite) black chocolate for dad. I got box of Jacobs crackers in packets put 3or 4 in and bottle wine.
Did same with dil but smellies instead of fruit.
Nice baskets in home bargains for 2.99. And the tissue etc.

For nieces and nephews 11+ I would give a gift card for something they are into (game, Microsoft points, iTunes) or money in a Christmas card so that they can choose something they will use. My dc's (19, 17 & 8) have stashes of shower gels and sprays they don't like or, in the case of ds2 and ds3, can't use as they have sensitive skin. We are on a tight budget so they can't get much from us and we have few relatives left. They love to get money or a gift card that they can get maximum value for in the sales. It also saves on gift wrap.

I love reciving gift cards to topshop or any high street store means I can go shopping in the Sails

A gift card for a cinema ticket and a bag of popcorn or similar.

There are some brilliant bargains to be had on them.

I asked my friend what her daughter wanted for her birthday - she said Impulse body spray, Nivea crème shower gel or anything chocolate. I was lucky to get all three on offer, 99p each for the first two and Celebrations chocolates reduced to £2. I wouldn't expect everyone to want all these choices, but it's worth remembering offers and getting some things then.

one year we decorated a plant pot for grandma was very well received :-)

for those with young children 2 upwards busy books are a lovely gift - a story book with playmat and figures normally around £5 sold in whsmiths, Asda, Tesco etc :-)

I agree with the hamper idea. Look out for sets that you can split e.g a pack of four nail varnishes or lipsticks is usually cheaper than buying them individually - also, I saw in Wilkinsons that they have a 3 for 2 deal on toiletry type gifts.

They have some shower gel and body spray sets in Superdrug for £3 suitable from 10 years up to adult. You could always get something edible - selection box, choccies, biscuits or a bottle of something - you might even keep it to £6 a head if you shop around.

Tesco has lots of gift sets half price at the moment, so you could give "as is" or as others have said buy things you can split into hampers. i think you can easily make things look like so much more if you package them nicely and add in some really cheap bits and pieces. Have a look round the £1 shops for things like glitzy nail files/body scrunchies etc. You can save money on the baskets by covering cardboard boxes with wrapping paper.

Maybe the DCs 11+ would like a coffee shop gift card (depend which one they hang out with their mates at)

Calendars, books, craft sets. We have got a lot of good stuff from The Works (sort of bargain stationery shop). M&S toiletries at £1 made into gift set. Visit bargain shops like b&m, home bargains, pound land and repackage stuff in tissue paper and basket!

DVD night package (cheap classic film from Amazon, bag of popcorn, sweets, beers).

Personally, I don't get the trend for 'Hampers', I would rather have one nice bottle of shower gel or bath foam than a basket full of cheap bits and bobs.

I think you can't go wrong with money for teens, vouchers can be quite limiting and often mean that they have to spend them in shops that they would not usually use. iTunes would not be welcome by any teen I know as they all seem to use other ways of downloading.

Surprisingly, some 'expensive' mail order shops, (like present finder) have really good little unusual gifts in for around a tenner.

The soap and glory set that comes half price out in mid December could be spilt and used. Brilliant value

Wilko's had a good range of teenager-ish gifts, mostly about £5 to £8 each. With a 3 for 2 offer on.

So I was able to get Christmas gifts for my 2 neices and 2 nephews AND birthday gifts for the same 2 nephews for about £28.

if you need to cut back, have a 'no present' deal with all your adult friends and family. Also prevents exchange of expensive crap.

young kids like lots of little presents, can be poundland specials. No need to spend a tenner each!

I also think sometimes it's nice to have a treat so work out what you would never spend £10 on normally and then 'upgrade' eg Charbonnel & Walker champagne truffles, stationery or posh hand cream/ lip balm. I would love anyone who gave me the truffles, at £1 a chocolate I can never justify them but oh they are my favourite.

For children, next pyjamas used to be about £10 a pair. If it's got their favourite character the children love them and the adults don't have to be embarrassed as they are only worn in the house. Also woolly hats from e.g. Monsoon go down well.

Oh and the Book People do sets of books if you know their favourite author/ interests. They usually come in at about £10.

Proper art materials from the works, good quality according to someone I know who should know. They do acrylics, watercolours, pastels and with brushes and proper paper you get a lovely set for less that £10.
