All welcome to join the MN frugaleers for another month of recording our spends, frugal wins and frugal fails!

NSD = No Spend Day (let's have as many as possible!)

LSD = Low Spend Day

Italian hope you're ok and baby Italian.

Should be NSD here. I need a new portable umbrella, shoe polish, peanut butter and fruit but am waiting until we do the big shop tomorrow and hope to get umbrella and shoe polish in Aldi or poundland or somewhere similar.

Supermarket shop, petrol, gas and electric meters... ouch. Definitely not a NSD here. Hmm

ItalianWiking84 · 10/10/2014 14:00

We're okay thank you. Visiting friends baby who is unfortunately very ill Sad

girliefriend · 10/10/2014 14:14

Just got back from Lidl, I think I am a convert - did a weekly shop including some toiletries and lots of fridge and freezer stuff, a whole trolley full came to £31.24!! Even the woman in the queue behind me said 'Blimey thats good' Grin

Have got enough food to last a couple of weeks hopefully. Also when wondering round noticed they had lots of bits that would be good in a hamper so am thinking may do that as a Christmas present for one or two people.

Passthecake30 · 10/10/2014 14:14

Went to tescos with the intention of spending £40 to get £5 off......topped up grocery spends with tins of Xmas chocs 2 for £8, after eights for £1.50, half price chocolate oranges.....I have a shelf for Xmas goodies now. Hate the way if you don't end up getting it early you have to pay rip off prices.....off to get several bottles of Baileys later (hopefully) as they are £12 each in morrisons compared to £18+ everywhere else.

Then all I'll need is a padlock on the goodies clipboard Grin

On less frugal news, dp had a penalty charge notice for turning in a no turn zone (or something). £65 and he said another one will be coming as it's not the only time. ARGH.

listsandbudgets · 10/10/2014 14:19

Gave in to Macdonalds this morning. Enjoyed my breakfast though all £3.69 of it. Hardly frugal though.

Italian glad to hear you and your baby are doing well but sorry to hear your friends is so ill :(

FantaSea · 10/10/2014 14:55

Italian sorry to hear about your friend's baby Flowers

Passthecake last year I 'took advantage' of the Christmas chocolates being of offer early and the big tins of Roses and Quality Street were only £5 each. All it did was mean that I ate four huge tins before Christmas! Blush I am such a piggy.

£61 in Tesco on food shopping Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/10/2014 15:03

It's nice you visit your friend italian, people don't always visit & you find out who your friends are.

Pass I hope that fines coming out of his own money.

Adora that school never disappoints does it?.

£10 petrol.

Finally got my cheque for not loving the loo roll.

I'm going to email plusnet, EE has an offer that they will pay your disconnection fees so I'm going to see if plusnet will do it too.

Badvoc123 · 10/10/2014 15:27

Soooo....pretty bad week Hmm
Both dc ill with tummy bug (odd online that seems to go and come back again) so had to buy rehydration powder and pain killers.
So both kids at home and dh away with work Hmm
Oh and did I mention it was my b day!?
I lost my wedding ring too Hmm
But I have managed to get £100 from the house insurance towards a new ring Smile
And I used a difference e mail address so I could get an Ocado delivery with £20 off and a free gift Smile
Sold a DVD on e bay Smile
However, I have also bought loads of Xmas gifts for the dc Shock
So all in all a bit of a disaster

Sixforgold · 10/10/2014 15:30

lists I am Envy ! I missed breakfast this morning and only because I don't pass a mcds was frugal by buying 55p pate from Aldi to have with oatcakes I already had at work.

I've just been to tescos for weekly shop. I tried to keep to £30 as I had a £3 off. Also had a £1.45 off next shop and various vouchers. I think I'm being spoiled by Aldi as feel I came away with hardly anything! I did go through the self service so I could use every last penny in my purse before breaking into a note so still have around £10 for weekend spends before needing to spend any money from account.

Badvoc123 · 10/10/2014 15:33

Oh and I just spent £20 on a deposit for our Xmas food from m&s.
We are staying at home this year so dinner will be the foil tray bung it in the oven variety Smile

needastrongone · 10/10/2014 15:40

Haven't read back yet. It's been a bit manic. Like badvoc, I've had DH away, been ill myself, a poorly dog and just a lot on.

Money wise we are doing ok so far this month.

DH just needs to get with it more though, he's bought loads of clothes and just returned home from overseas with Tom Ford perfume for me. Which is very lovely, but if anyone wants to Google the price of Tom Ford perfume!!

I sound very ungrateful, which I don't mean to be, I have had a shit week and am so glad he's home and he wanted to make me feel better Smile I've just got two other bottles from his last two trips!!!

needastrongone · 10/10/2014 15:44

Happy birthday badvoc Sorry your week has been crap.

There's lots on the internet re slow cooker recipes. Also, Facebook have some great sites for slow cooker devotees.

furcoatbigknickers · 10/10/2014 16:10

Spent £29 in lidl.. Nine pound of that is drinks to take to friends tomorrow. Dh thinks we shouldn't go as beyond broke, I think you
can't stop living and besides they are doing dinner.

Eek made the fatal mistake of looking at the Boden sale! Got dd some really nice high top shoes for £16 and some trousers for £12 so not too bad..... right? Wink

Oh and just thought should have gone through cashback.com, keep forgetting to do that!

lilacclery · 10/10/2014 21:33

coolcadbury well jealous that you didnt fuel up since August, I can only presume you have access to public transport & don't live in middle of nowhere!

Iamnotanugget · 10/10/2014 23:50

£39.50 with The Book People but I did get 10% extra off and I should get 8% cashback and I'm getting a free gift that can be my donation to the Christmas fair. I've also sorted out quite a few Christmas gifts so I don't feel too bad.

£45 on Tassimo, which I've decided is a Christmas present to me from Dh. Other than that a nsd .

Just have time to say a happy birthday Badvoc Flowers

574ejones · 11/10/2014 14:35

Picked up jeans I ordered which are vile so will be going back! But my plans for a no spend weekend scuppered by buying a coat for DS1 which I had forgotten he needed, £60! At least it will fit the younger one eventually, and probably me after that - got to get my money's worth!
