Thought I'd do the honours Smile

With kids back at school and autumn weather drawing in we all need a very sensible September. I'm putting up my thermal curtains and refusing to put on the heating until October. Who's in?

OP posts:
girliefriend · 11/09/2014 11:56

Today have already spent; £10 on a pet plan for the kitten and £21 on dry food for the cats (got 4kg of food though, it was on offer and should last a while) picking up the kitten later after she has been spayed and will be looking at at least £65 - poss more if there were any complications!!

Flipping cats cost me a fortune, just as well they are cute and repay me in cuddles Wink off to Morrisons in a bit to get a few bits.

A wound care rep came into work ystd and brought in loads of food with him, we shared it out amongst ourselves and I got quite a few nice bits - very nice to get free food!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/09/2014 11:58

£35 hair cut & £5 tip.

sometimessunshine · 11/09/2014 12:12

The family car is in for a service so I think today is going to be quite a spendy. Taking youngest DS to soft play so that will be £3.50 entry fee plus a coffee for me.

Spag Bol on the meal plan for supper tonight and DS and I made some white chocolate rice crispie cakes for afters.

WireCat · 11/09/2014 14:03

All going well today will be the 2nd NSD in a row.

girliefriend · 11/09/2014 14:17

Well did quite well in Morrisons only spent £25 and that includes weekly groceries plus loo rolls and dishwasher tablets. Thought that wasn't too bad, had to put more petrol in the car another £25 which is annoying as the last lot has only lasted a week Shock going to watch that and try were possible to use the car less.

Ugh today is turning out very expensive Sad and the day isn't over yet.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/09/2014 14:19

girliefriend we go through minimum £75 a week petrol between us I hate it, it's so expensive!

listsandbudgets · 11/09/2014 14:21

I think today will be a NSD.

Tomorrow will be terrible. The cat has an eye infection so it means a trip to the vets. They said when i was on the phone that she is also overdue for her vaccinations. I reckon I'm going to be lucky to leave having paid less than £150 when all is said and done (she needs flea and worm stuff too).

northender · 11/09/2014 15:11

Today's main expense has been my haircut which was 42 pounds Shock. It's the one really un frugal thing I do but it's definitely worth it. I have grey hair which I've decided not to colour so I have a good cut instead, my hairdresser has given up trying to talk me into a colour now!
Tea tonight will be fajitas using some leftover pulled pork I found in the freezer.
Nothing to do with frugality but I have just discovered that I have a week less than I thought left to do the assignment I'm working on (due in 3 weeks' time eek!). So I suppose I really shouldn't be on here, but a girl has to have some down time, no??

ItalianWiking84 · 11/09/2014 15:31

70£ on groceries but that includes a nice thank you dinner for my parents tonight and household bits.

furcoatbigknickers · 11/09/2014 15:47

£10 something on groceries in 8 reduced yogurts for thr freezer

£10 for two weeks ballet

Frugal win, managed to park in a free spot when took dd to docs

furcoatbigknickers · 11/09/2014 15:49

Lists, there was a thread on here recently discussing wethercat vacs are neccessary especially in older cats. Sorry rubbish at linking.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/09/2014 15:50

furcoat do you have to pay parking when you see the doctor sometimes?! Shock Mumsnet makes me realise how sheltered a life I live sometimes Grin I've just read a thread which stated a local primary have 180 reception places!! Dd is one of 12...

furcoatbigknickers · 11/09/2014 16:04

Yes, theres very limited parking. Its rubbish!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 11/09/2014 16:14

Spotty schools here generally have 3 classes per yr so 90 children unless teeny village and then perhaps under 20 in one class. DS has just started school and there are 25 in his class and again in the other reception class this is not our catching school nor our nearest but smallest within reasonable distance.

AuditAngel · 11/09/2014 16:17

£2 for parking at the hospital for DD1's appointment. They have told me to get her new glasses (which in ?May they said she didn't need). They want her to see same optician, first appointment in 2 weeks, so going to another branch on Tuesday.

£51 in M&S, but £35 of that was on poppies, rest was lunch for me and some dinner and freezer top up.

AuditAngel · 11/09/2014 16:19

Wow Spotty our school is a 2 form intake so 60 in each year, 7 years. 420 give or take.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/09/2014 16:20

I saw the cat vaccination thread but one of the vets on here says she immunises her cats so I'm going to keep immunising mine too.

I wouldn't forgive myself if he got sick and it was preventable.

£10 on Dh's vitamin tablets, and I closed my business account down. I have a normal account now with no fee for work stuff.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 11/09/2014 16:28

Car problems have just blown my budget out of the water. I have enough to cover it but it will make for some careful budgeting for the rest of the month. sigh

SpottyTeacakes · 11/09/2014 16:30

There's only fifty families in dd's school Grin I think it's nice for her now but do worry about her going up to secondary school. Although none of the primary's round here have more than one class per year.

needastrongone · 11/09/2014 17:30

Bugger regarding the car alice, they do bloomin' cost don't they, with petrol and running costs.

I have a scheme at my vet for the dogs, I think I pay about £15 per month, but it depends on the size of the pet. Covers all examinations, vaccinations, worming and flea treatments, blood tests and scans etc. The dogs are spaniels and both accident prone, it's been very much worth it for us, but depends if you have nut-jobs like I do Smile

£75 on supermarket delivery from Morrisons, but they have a wahing tablet deal on which I used and that was including DH's beer and all sandwich making stuff. I have a fruit and veg and meat delivery coming later, that will be it then apart from milk and cheese etc until payday.

£10 at the pound shop on tooth brushes and toiletries as it's cheaper.

£25 on buying a ceramic poppy for DMIL for Xmas, which is outside of budget but I know they will run out of them, for anyone who doesn't know, google image tower of london poppies and see the display they are making, it's quite stunning.

Dpony didn't need any dental treatment, so that's the first time a pony hasn't cost me something I had anticipated Smile

Just swapped energy providers and checked my balance for current provider today, so see what I owe (or not). We are £500 in credit!!!! I am over the moon, that will get the horse box through it's MOT and help towards Christmas.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 11/09/2014 17:32

needastrongone yes, they do. Still recuperating from the £900 in repairs earlier this year (march/april). Honestly, I should have an entire new engine by now!

needastrongone · 11/09/2014 17:35

Gosh, that sounds like a lot - but hopefully that will pretty much last until 25th September Smile

Excuse typos - I am on my phone!

needastrongone · 11/09/2014 17:39

Frugal things - I have made a big vegetable and chick pea curry in the slow cooker and frozen half a loaf of stale white bread, to use for bread crumbs.

oneofthosedays · 11/09/2014 18:02

Just spent £7.50 for some bits from Iceland today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/09/2014 18:07

need, you could have paid a much lower monthly dd if you were £500 in credit.

I hope you're paying less with the new supplier.
