Hello All,
I've taken the liberty (again!) of starting our new thread for August. The merrily sort of ties in with Christmas and keeping an eye on any bargains out there, if you're super organised and like planning ahead.

Today's spends were £5.10 on travel, £1.20 on 2 bottles of water, £4.20 on 2 hot chocolates and £17.25 on a meal out (long story!).

OP posts:

Forgot to put down yesterday's spends. £9.50 bedgebury entry for the whole car and £2 gruffalo trail. Parents paid for snacks, ice lollies and sainsburys shop (I feel so bad - does anyone else feel like this when their parents pay??!!).

Lacuna · 06/08/2014 08:37

Wow this thread moves fast! Thanks for the lovely welcome btw. So today should be a NSD as am into work later and have the remains of last night's curry boxed up already.

NK - yes, I feel the same! My parents are quite generous, frequently offering to shell out for this that and the other, which is lovely but makes me feel a bit weird. I know they do it out of love etc but I do sometimes have to say, I do have a job you know, I can manage! But the odd ice cream I think is probably fine Smile

Major spend morning - Went to doctors hoping to get referral to xray for back problems. As well as however got a prescription and then realised I had two repeats to collect too. £24.15 on medicine!!! plus about £10 on shopping. Not leaving the house for the rest of the day - its too expensive!!

SpottyTeacakes · 06/08/2014 10:53

I'm so glad I get my prescriptions free it would bankrupt me otherwise.

fuzzpig · 06/08/2014 11:52

Same here teacakes. I have actually just come off my painkillers but when DH had his back injury he was on around 30 tablets a day. We would've been screwed if it weren't for our tax credit exemption certificate. Having that also meant I got my hospital travel refunded - a blessed relief also as it was £36 a time!

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/08/2014 13:06

Dh spent £16 on Px charges yesterday, he has diabetes but is diet controlled so no exemption for him. I keep telling him to get a prepay certificate but he won't listen to me.

M&S emailed me, I complained because the lights I bought had a different bulb than advertised (yes I know I'm sad but you don't get your fuel bills to £40 a month by accident Grin, they are refunding me the whole amount on to a gift card. I wasn't expecting that at all so I'm made up.

I can get dh a big thermal floofy dressing gown now. Mine came today & it's ankle length. I look like a child in it.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/08/2014 13:15

Great news fluffy!

I have a medical exception certificate but tbh I'd rather not have the diabetes and pay Grin

Are you on reasties Christmas thread tired? It's a treasure trove of bargains. I love Aldi, it's saved us about £1200 a year in food bills.

Welcome back, I sometimes wonder how lizard queen got on because she disappeared a while back.

£25 on fuel.

£1.20 in tescos.

£7 cashback came through.

Thelongdarkteatime · 06/08/2014 17:07

£4.59 meeting a friend for breakfast and coffee. £132 vet bill. Quite a spendy day. Going to sit down and meal plan tonight for the next week.

misstiredbuthappy · 06/08/2014 17:39

Couldnt belive how much fridge stuff there was in aldi, ive been lidl a few times realy cheap but not much for snacky bits for dd.

AuditAngel · 06/08/2014 18:38

I was going to say NSD, but DS has grown out of all his shorts and we go away next weekend. I managed to find 5 Gap pairs in the sale, but still £73. I remembered Quidco so should get back 7%.

Also as he is at the top of the size 8-9 I gave bought 10-11 (he has never worn clothes bigger than his size, but he is 10 on Friday!) they should do him the next couple of summers.

The ones he has outgrown were all hand me downs

SpottyTeacakes · 06/08/2014 18:42

I've got maggots ShockSadBlush

Supermum222 · 06/08/2014 19:04

They were on my kitchen floor!!!! VOM!! Two of the fuckers. There were a couple of dead ones by the back door (opens straight into the kitchen) and one in the seal so they must be getting in there. Not sure where they've come from though as dp checked the outside bin plus that's round the other side of the house...

SpottyTeacakes · 06/08/2014 19:31

Yuck yuck yuck it's the kitchen bin they're in gross gross gross. Dp took the lid off and it was like a maggot explosion Shock the bin wasn't over flowing but it was ready to be emptied. I swear my kitchen is actually pretty clean!

No pets but we do get flies in when the windows are open. The lid on the bin is really tightly sealed so one must have snuck in Angry

CremeEggThief · 06/08/2014 20:13

.

NSD, as I've been in all day, painting mostly. Yawn!

Passthecake30 · 06/08/2014 20:18

Bleurgh maggots! We have them fairly regularly in our black bin as only emptied fortnightly. I'm worried as next bin day is when we're away and the neighbour will prob take the bin down for us....and end up with a fist full of maggots! If anyone has any miracle preventions let me know? ?!

99p on a bottle of coke as was at work and the humidity jn London was giving me a sore head. ...should've had a cheaper paracetamol I guess but the coke worked.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/08/2014 20:26

We only have fortnightly collections too. The maggoty bin bag has gone in the black bin which will be collected a week tomorrow....

NK5BM3 · 06/08/2014 20:45

Oh maggots!!!! Confused Gross. We had them. We now have two kitchen bins.. One was ours from way back when, and one was when the council decided to give us all a kitchen bin to encourage recycling such waste. We separate the kitchen waste shall I say.... !! Maggots and such go into the council ones!

Today, spent maybe £4 on stuff, parents paid for lunch. Hmm I made dinner - pizza, which they really really liked! (Chinese parents don't eat pizza....!!)
