Hi All,
I couldn't see a new thread yet, so thought I'd start one for July. The jacket potato is a marker for starting summer off on a frugal note. :).

NSD so far.

I think it was only about a month even though they said it would be three Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/07/2014 21:36

Thank you.

I wouldn't bother going to customer services, they'll try and say you did send the photos.

I'd email the CEO directly instead and state your case.

I'm assuming the doctors and shoe shop are ll numbers so can't receive a picture message anyway.

£98 in Tesco. I only popped on for a few things, but that did include £29 on printer ink. I got a reduced pork joint, some reduced turkey breast (for the cat) and reduced Brie.

CremeEggThief · 29/07/2014 23:46

£3.60 travel, £10.35 lunch and coffee and cake and £9.something in Lidl.

OH HELP Can you check the history on your phone? It sounds more like an error on their part, but i have no idea how you could resolve it.

Today I spent £4.60 in Sainsbury's, ds2 made some chocolate Brownies, he was very proud of himself, he has mild SN so it was a big deal for him to be able to follow the instructions and have the patience to see the whole thing through, we bought ice cream so we could all have them for pudding when dh got home this evening, I had £5 in my purse and made a particular effort not to spend any more than that, also got squirty cream, a bag of ice cubes and a bottle of Pepsi Max. Lots of treats there.

I'm trying to curb the habit of online spending, but today I just had to buy some leggings for dd1, she is crazy about Pugs and these ones from H&M had them printed all over, they will be a birthday present so not too bad.

I'm contemplating taking a tenner out of the cash machine tomorrow and taking the children to an animal sanctuary in the afternoon, dh says no and is obsessing about money at the moment, but there is only so much time that can be spent in the pool/garden.

DS2 has a big project that he needs to complete before starting senior school in September, it consists of lots of individual challenges, some much bigger/harder than others, he's managed some of the smaller and easier ones so far but really needs to get on with the more difficult ones, I could help him with it I guess rather than going out, but I'd still need to keep the younger ones occupied.

ohelp definitely call them - something vv similar happened to me in May time with EE (who I believe are part of Orange) and they did actually admit fault and refund me. They had me down as calling 2 numbers simultaneously, repeatedly calling random numbers 7 or 8 times in 5 mins, sending messages to people I never did etc.

They could see it was totally uncharacteristic usage and the girl on the phone was great, she refunded me on the spot.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/07/2014 08:18

Our cars gone into the garage AGAIN today. Hopefully it'll be fixed this time.

Am going to the pub down the road with my friend and our dc today for lunch. It's quite pricey but we will just have chips probably.

That is such a nightmare about your phone! I'm so glad mine incs texts in the contract.

The reason we are in such a mess at the mo is he because he isn't working ATM. So we HAVE to live of my overtime money, as my regular pay covers my car loan. I earn 7.36 an hour!
I think I'm going to have to take all his cards off of him.
He is going into London today to meet some ex work colleagues I actually feel sick with what he might spend!

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/07/2014 11:09

I'd get him to take the shirt back. You had to work 6 hours to pay for that.

karbea that's why me and dh have pocket money. We both have a little money to spend on whatever we want as I would be fuming if we were skint and he spent that kind of money.

spotty I hope the car is finally fixed.

oh help please tell me you've got bill fixed. That sounds like a nightmare.

I've spent £11.55 on groceries. I think I have approx £50 left for milk (£8?), fruit (£10?) and entertaining dcs until 8th. Thankfully we have 4 playdates booked in next week, a trip to 2 places with passes this week so it's doable.

I've signed up for EE unlimited broadband, £30 for year and pre paid 12 months line rental, £132 but got £130 cashback! We now only get free calls at weekends but we rarely make calls and as it's costing less than £3 a month we can afford to pay for calls when we make them. Although I may use my mobile more as I usually have nearly 200 minutes left over every month.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/07/2014 14:58

Ok sky have taken money from my account this month but didn't take anything in June Confused

SpottyTeacakes · 30/07/2014 17:59

My car STILL isn't fixed. The part is £700+vat+labour so he's sent it to someone else to see if they can fix it.

Karbea · 30/07/2014 18:15

Petrol was £50 with a saving of £4 something, so that was worth doing.

Yes I'm thinking when he gets back into work to split our money like this...

A - dh wages (significantly more than my silly pt job)
B - my wages
C - core bills (mortgage, gas, electricity, car loan etc)
D - food (will have to base on previous months spending :/, no idea how to estimate this...)

So A + B - (C + D) = E

E/4 = F

DH can have F to play with, I can have F to play with and the 2F can go into a savings account for savings/emergencies/fun!

Does that work?

Help on the food bit would be great, or what you guys do?

Supermum222 · 30/07/2014 18:17

Not been on for a while but had spends everyday that I haven't been at work...the kids fault!!! Blame the school holidays. I am off for 2.5 weeks after this week so...aarrgghh
Good news is that I paid an overpayment on my mortgage. Only £80 but it soon adds up if I pay that each month.
Spends today:
£129 Tesco 2 week shop
£5.49 at garden centre for kids (flower thing and 2 fish)
£2 for stickers and sweets for eldest

Supermum222 · 30/07/2014 18:19

Oh, and £50 diesel for car no. 1 are Asda. Double to what I normally put in per week but I am off after Friday so days out coming up.

Supermum222 · 30/07/2014 18:21

I like that Karbea. We have a budget per fortnight for food. £150 the first fortnight and £130 the second.

Supermum222 · 30/07/2014 18:23

Karbea, don't forget fuel for cars in your list.

Karbea · 30/07/2014 18:30

Yes need to add that in, thank you. I think I'll need to sit down with our accounts/cred card bills and see what we spend stuff on.
He has said he'll take it back, but it doubt he actually will! Grrr!

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/07/2014 19:07

If he paid cash you could take it back. Or you go with him.

It's frivolous of him to spend your money on a new shirt for himself when you only have one income coming in.

£6.99 on stuff for work.
