I found them overall more expensive but you could do an online shop and see how much it comes to on mysupermarket.com & then they can compare it to Aldi.

If you use the offers it can work out cheaper on some items but massively over on others. I've got an aldi/lidl/morrisons in spitting distance of each other so I sometimes spread my shop.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2014 07:51

I've got lidl and morrisons 40 mins away but in different directions then aldi nearly an hour away. Should probably just stick with lidl...

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2014 08:09

Aldi are planning to rapidly expand their stores in the uk so I'd write to their head office and tell them they should build in x town.

Any brownfield sites nearby? A disused petrol station? The stores have a small footprint so they don't need much space.

I dare you to do it.

Those are the nearest big towns though. The other way to me is just many a posh village/town in Surrey. Can't think where they could build one, we're in the South Downs national park and they're turning down loads of new commercial building projects Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2014 09:14

Oh I see, no you can't really plonk a supermarket in green belt.

I imagine you've got fantastic countryside around you though.

Yes we do have that Smile just paid in mine and dd's birthday money. Mines going straight off the cc and I've put the £100 from first direct into my isa. Have also set up the 6% savings acct with a monthly SO of £50 going in (all we can afford atm).

MissAnnersleyismyhero · 23/06/2014 09:57

Eating DH's home-made chocolate cake and coffee for breakfast - it's my 29th birthday today only one more year of being young sobs

Not much planned apart from relaxing in the sun Grin

NK5BM3 · 23/06/2014 13:01

I've just won some vouchers, courtesy of MN!! :) They are asking which store do I want them from... any suggestions?!?! Should I be practical and ask for something like a sainsburys type, or should I be frivolous?!?!

Passthecake30 · 23/06/2014 13:43

How fab! I would get amazon vouchers as spend a fortune on there!

Just had a spend up in tescos on ice lollies and ice cream. ..cheaper than buying from corner shop one at attime and its not hot for long. ..

Dds pink vtech camera just arrived (her bribe/reward for getting her swimming badge), £37 down from £50 on amazon and it will be used as ds has a blue one they squabble over

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2014 15:06

MissAnnersleyismyhero Happy birthday! 29 is very young still.

Is there anything you've been putting off buying nk, you could use the vouchers for that or Christmas presents. Congratulations!

£20 on petrol.

Happy birthday missann!! Hope you're celebrating in the sun!

NK didn't you win something else lovely recently? Please reveal your secrets to us!

LS weekend. Picnic out in the sun on Saturday (we're getting pretty good at a pack-up now and it's becoming second nature). And DH took my bike to be fixed at a local event for free yesterday.

NK5BM3 · 23/06/2014 17:48

MissAnne - OMG - I can't remember being 29... Envy

thanks everyone - yes, I did win a stay in London too. I don't know what's happening, I NEVER WIN!!! will be good if this marks the change in luck. DS is in remission, and DH's work is very busy - hopefully this translates to more money in!! Being self-employed is scary stuff.

Still haven't decided where to get vouchers from!!!

silkknickers · 23/06/2014 19:03

Happy birthday MissAnne!

£5/6 today on bus fare and sundries. All needed and unfrivolous.

Springbright · 23/06/2014 19:04

Sorry NK that sounded a bit accusatory - you go and enjoy! Lots of luck and good news for you Smile
ooh vouchers...m&s or waitrose to spend on treaty food and drink!

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2014 19:41

Oh yes m&s then you can buy clothes, gifts, house stuff and food!

FantaSea · 23/06/2014 19:55

Thrice welcome Smile

MissAnn happy birthday Cake believe me, 29 is very young Grin

NK great news on your vouchers, hope you enjoy spending them Smile

£6 in Tesco on essentials.

CoolCadbury · 23/06/2014 20:24

missa happy birthday.

NK well done, I would get m and s vouchers too.

charlieboo I was just reading back and I definitely don't think you were stealth boasting, just joining in the conversation. Nice that you can afford stuff from a deli Smile

NSD today. Am knackered as DS was up 7 times last night with a stomach bug and I had already agreed to do an extra day at work today. DS was off school, obviously, and I've decided to keep him at home tomorrow as well, partly to comply with school rules but mostly cos he is still not a hundred %.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/06/2014 20:33

Nsd here too Smile

CremeEggThief · 23/06/2014 21:41

Happy Birthday, MissA Cake.

Another vote for M&S vouchers, NK. So versatile.

Hope your DS improves quickly, CoolCadbury. Sounds like an awful bug :(.

£5 in the chemist today, on dental care and vitamins.

MissAnnersleyismyhero · 23/06/2014 22:35

Thanks all Grin about to have my 2nd bit of Cake today, DH took me to Pizza Express, he had vouchers so it was £16 off. V nice!

AuditAngel · 23/06/2014 23:48

Just scraping in to say happy birthday MissAnnersley

Been to the theatre tonight to watch DS in his show. £3 for a programme. We (I) also brought him a t-shirt for £15. It is only the second show he has done so still really exciting.

When I brought the tickets, I bought a package with lounge access, drinks pre show and nibbles. That was definitely worth £10 each, it was so relaxing, really unlike the usual scrum for the bar. Only 12 in the lounge before the show and 16 in the interval. Definitely made the evening more special and I had told DH it was his Father's Day present

Going yo London for a meeting tomorrow, so parking and train fares, but all will be claimed back.

AdoraBell · 24/06/2014 03:11

Happy birthday MissAnneserly and, ahem, what do you mean only one year left of being young ? I'm 46 and I refuse to be oldGrin

But have some Thanks and Wine anyway.

Spent about £48-ish plus £5 in the greengrocer's.

lilacclery · 24/06/2014 09:35

Happy Birthday MissAnneserly
Following on from your birthday announcement I was just wondering what age range we have on this thread? I'm 31 and consider myself a young mum!

auditangel that sounds like a lovely night out and real treat to have the lounge access.

I've been spendy but frugal at the same time - everything was a planned spend, and finished up this week with €130 bank balance ahead of hen on Sat which I need €188 for + spending money and I will be paid again before then.

I know it's not the correct way to do things but I find consistently putting €50 diesel into my car helps me not be stung a week that I've a long journey.

Got Tesco delivered at the weekend as they had free delivery. But still went to Aldi for the stuff that is cheaper there and better quality.

annielostit · 24/06/2014 10:53

In regard to age I'm 47 but 35 in my head, my best age. When I had my dts at 31 I was considered/referee to as a geriatric new mum.

annielostit · 24/06/2014 10:54

*referred to as geriatric.
