Thought I'd start a new thread for April Smile

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2014 12:24

Oh that's good Italian

I'm also Envy at Devon I've never even been.

£6 something in tesco.

CoolCadbury · 11/04/2014 12:44

Good news. Bad news.

DS and I went to the big park with his scooter. Good news. Didn't have to fork out for an expensive ice lolly. Because...

Bad news. He scooted down a hill, then got off it rather than use his brakes and it rolled down, round a bend and into the deep lake. RIP scooter. Have to buy a new one. Great. Hmm

But...but...but... I wanted to laugh at the comedy moment, because it was funny, but instead I consoled a very angry, upset little boy. He is okay now though. So, here it is. I've been holding it in. Grin Grin Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2014 12:50

ShockGrinGrinGrin Your poor ds! It will be funny to tell him about it when he's older though!

BoffinMum · 11/04/2014 14:24

£140 in Aldi today
How the fuck did that happen?
'Spensive.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2014 14:31

Boffin did you buy one of everything?!

Ellisisland · 11/04/2014 14:47

Coolcadbury - Grin that's definitely a story for when your DS is older!

Spent £39 in B&M today but that was for new bed set for DS and bulk bought some cupboard items

Frugal win of the day is got a £5 off fuel voucher from Tesco Orchard. Joined it ages ago after someone on here recommended it and I'm really glad they have sent me something so useful! Will probably give it to DH to use as he uses more petrol than me.

Also sold DH old car for scrap and got refunds for the insurance and tax.

FantaSea · 11/04/2014 15:08

Italian good news that you got it all sorted out at the bank Smile .

Cadury your poor DS, but I would have wanted to laugh too.

£32 on petrol at Tesco - I did get £6 something off as our Tesco is doing the petrol points and I had got it up to 20p off a litre, which means I must have spent a huge amount on food to get that saving!

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2014 15:23

I'm really annoyed. I bought a bag of potatoes from sainsburys just under a week ago and they're all sprouting and bruised. Basically unusable. I've had to chuck the whole bag.

FantaSea · 11/04/2014 15:59

Spotty If you bought them less than a week ago, then you could take them back for an exchange. Potatoes are expected to last longer than a few days, that is not really acceptable. I don't shop in Sainsbury's but in Tesco they will refund/exchange anything without a quibble so I would imagine it would be the same.

ItalianWiking84 · 11/04/2014 16:02

So packed my maternity bag today, because according to my app, this week is the week to do it :D I have a feeling that I have overpacked way to much and that I most likely have forgot something... Hmm...

FantaSea · 11/04/2014 16:08

Italian what have you packed? I had a small suitcase and a holdall when I went into hospital to have DD - what was I thinking of? After all that, when she was born they asked me if I had a hat for her, which I didn't as she was a summer baby and it hadn't occurred to me.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2014 16:14

Fanta my nearest sainsburys is almost 20 miles away so not worth it.

Italian with dd I packed my bag the day before I had her (had just had a sweep so thought I should!) at 36 weeks. With ds I grabbed my phone charger threw a few things on the bed for dp to bring in later and went down to hospital (35 weeks). I stayed there until ds was born 4 days later and in fact stayed another two weeks until he was out of SCBU.

Argh I want another baby!!

FantaSea · 11/04/2014 16:18

Spotty oh dear, then that is not worth it then, but still very annoying.

BoffinMum · 11/04/2014 16:25

I do wonder, Spotty.Grin

Possiblyorange · 11/04/2014 16:51

Glad to see the Devon envy - we live here and it is lovely, especially today when the sun is shining and all my children are being civilised Grin.

Spendy day today - paid my CC payment, HMRC payment, did some posting and ordered a pair of shoes (budgeted for! Honest guv), snacks from the corner shop (not budgeted for, but DH spectacularly failed to buy me unhealthy BFing treats from Lidl the other day).

Italian I took a small bag for immediately after giving birth - baby clothes, nightie, maternity pads etc - then another bag for DH to get from the car once we were on the ward with wash stuff, towels, change of clothes etc etc.

Cadbury oh dear! Scooters can be so £££

insideleg · 11/04/2014 17:28

cool that's brilliant! It reminds me of the kind of story from Jonny Briggs back in the 80s!
spotty how do you store them? I find taking them out of the plastic bag makes them last much longer, sometimes a couple of weeks.
ellisisland i made the brownies and they are amazing!! Thank you so much my 3 yr old son helped and loved it.

ItalianWiking84 · 11/04/2014 18:15

FantaSea Have hats, socks, body with no arms and legs, body with arms, body with arms and legs, 3 pair of cotton pants, and probably more that I already forgot, lol. Think I want to pack a cardigan or light jacket as well. And perhaps I should bring a duvet or planket too. Arg, all these decisions. I also have nappies, maternity pads, breast pads, top/tshirt/night pant, socks for me. And chocolate, snack biscuits and drops for me and DP. Have a deo, toothbrush, toothpaste, contact lenses.. Need to pack body shampoo.
Spotty that is why I wanted to pack now, :). I am now 34 weeks pregnant, so getting closer. So want to be prepared/or try to at least ;)
Still waiting for hospital to decide if I have a c section or normal birth, so guessing my packing could change after that...
Possiblyorange actually not a bad idea, I could pack an extra one with the things I dont know if I need/want and then leave at my PIL, then they could bring it in, if needed. We dont have a car atm.

CoolCadbury · 11/04/2014 18:37

I went in for a scan and was sent for emergency c-section and came out four days later, like spotty, when DS came out of neo-natal unit. Shock. I was in shock, tbf. And yes, I want a baby too.

Yes, possibly. They can be expensive. That's the flip side to this story. Sad

insideleg. I thought you meant Raymond Briggs and then DP thought you meant Johny Briggs of Coronation Street fame. Grin Grin. Then googled and realised you meant the BBC programme. Grin

I'm on a no snacking during the week drive at the moment. Gosh, it saves a lot of money. Smile

And I've gone trigger happy with the smileys today. Hmm

ItalianWiking84 · 11/04/2014 18:40

Cool you make me a bit scared now, have ekstra scan Wednesday to check her growth. She is a bit of the tiny size.....

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2014 18:42

Don't worry Italian they said dd was 7lb at the scan the day before I had her. She was 8lb. At 36 weeks Grin

Dp has said absolutely no to more children Sad he's right, we can't afford it, which is shit.

CoolCadbury · 11/04/2014 18:43

Sorry, italian that was bit insensitive. Please forgive me. Fwiw, I was overdue. Don't worry, everything will be fine. Flowers

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2014 18:44

Oh and I have underlying medical conditions so get really ill in pregnancy hence my early fat babies!

ItalianWiking84 · 11/04/2014 19:10

spotty my DD was 1400 gr at the last scan, which was in week 30. I am hoping she will be around 2000 gr Wedneday, which would be in week 34.
I actually thought the scans were accurate, so that the weight they gave is correct?
Cool its okay, I am a first time mom, so quite a lot scares me.... But thank you, I hope, they will be happy next scan...

ilovepicnmix · 11/04/2014 19:34

Poor Cadbury DS!

You must have filled a couple of trolleys boffin

NSD for me. I didn't think DS was fit for nursery today but he perked up so I got into work for 10. I'm just hoping the poor wee thing doesn't cough himself sick again tonight. And interrupt my dinner again Wink

FantaSea · 11/04/2014 20:03

Italian I am a bit out of date, but it is my understanding that the very early scans measure more accurately - and I think this is why they are used as dating scans, as very early on the size is the same for all babies. Once you get closer to your due date, the scans get less reliable on predicting the weight quite so accurately. I had to have a scan at 32 weeks because of a low placenta, and they told me then that DD would be at least 8lb at 40 weeks. I went to 42 weeks and she was 7lb exactly - she has always been on the small side for her age and is nearly 18 now and is still small and much to her annoyance (and my delight) still gets charged the under-16 fare on the bus!

Your bag sounds fully stocked - have you put in a dressing gown? I was very glad to have one with me as I felt more 'dressed' in front of visitors.

ilovepicnmix your poor DS - my DD used to cough until she was sick. It must have been horrible for her but it did clear her chest. Hope your DS is better soon.
