Oh hello. I haven't been too frugal for a couple of months but have been keeping an eye on the thread. I am not working as of two weeks ago and things are going to be quite tight. On the one hand I don't have an income (except a little pension) on the other I don't need childcare, I have time to shop around and more time to meal plan and cook from scratch.

I've got my ALDI token for next week and also a £2 off £12 in Iceland. I've never been in Iceland but might have a look. It's on my way to ALDI so quite handy.

I'm finishing the month on a high, kind of. Loads of things are selling on eBay and my car insure was loads less than I'd feared thanks to the tip about putting my mum on as a named driver. The car has cost a bomb and will cost loads more this month with mot and more repairs but I should be ok due to money saved on insurance. It will be v tight though! I'm going to try to look at it like a competition with myself so I can see money NOT spent as a triumph rather than depressing! Giving myself a ridiculously small food budget to force me to be more creative. One thing I need to do is NOT bring my cards out with me.

Have any of you tried the credit check websites on Top Cash Back? Is it easy enough to cancel before you have to pay? Sounds too good to be true.

Yes, it's easy to cancel. They will offer you massive discounts to stay if you do but I kept refusing & they canceled it for me.

You just have to remember. Unlike dh.

I did the Equifax one and set a reminder on my phone to cancel. Be aware you sign up online but can only cancel on the phone at 5p per minute from a landline - who knows on a mobile. I accepted their "free for six months" service which notifies me if anyone runs a credit check on me - a sign of identity theft. Again, have scheduled a reminder to cancel.

Our debt has gone from £17,544 to £15,949, it really feels worth it to feel the numbers go down like that.

Marking my spot. Tried to frugaleer in Feb but a bit of a bust so trying again for March. No major purchases needed this month so should be plain sailing. Aiming for at least 10 NSDs. Luckily inside with a baby (mat leave) so getting out to the shops and temptation is rare!
