Soo half term starts next week I know my dd gets bored easily. What things can we do to keep boredom at bay ? Its her birthday in two weeks so trying to save some cash.

If the weathers good feeding ducks is always fun at any age.

Looking for signs of spring nature walk.

Splashing in puddles if its wet ( you have to join in)

Kids am at the cinema as a special outing.

Going out for desert (my DC loved this when they were younger). Especially ice cream.

Check out your local library for events.

CBeebies and nickelodean have lots of print out sheets for colouring in - if you don't have a printer at home you can usually print a few out at the library for free.

There are lots of games and activites online for distraction.

Baking is always good. If you don't enjoy baking cheap biscuits, a runny bowl of icing and sweets make a fun but messy activity of biscuit decorating.

Making jewellery out of pasta and string. If you can bare it glitter and paint as phase two.

I find breaking the day into sections helps. Some time outside, sometime free play, sometime a little more structured and then the odd meet up for adult conversation keeps me sane.

A day when you're not allowed to get dressed and camp out on the sofa or a den - tv, films, jigsaws, stories, colouring, craft kits etc etc.

Going out, definitely! Walk in local park - see if local country parks if nature reserves are running kids' events?

Foraging walks - where dd has to find a cone, leaf, stone, flower etc. bark rubbing.

Visit the library.

Painting!

I buy a monthly unlimited entrance pass for our local Wacky Warehouse which costs £15 for 2 children (£10 for one).

Makes for a lot of cheap outings, especially if you can smuggle in your own drinks and snacks!
