Food budget question

For the first time in my life I am trying to stick to a food budget - quick question though what do you include and not include. For example are nappies including in family food budget - toiletries? Alcohol? Any other tips gratefully received! Am so shocked at what my top up shops have been costing us!!!

Well, I'd include everything I'd buy from the supermarket/on the weekly or monthly shop.

So nappies, cleaning stuff, shampoo etc. There doesn't seem to be much point in excluding stuff you then have to budget for separately.

Thanks dusty, well I am def over budget this week then but you are right - I have been labelling it food budget but if it's all you buy at the supermarket then it should include everything
