As we filled the old thread, thought I'd start a new one for February.

£45 weekly shop ( me, 2 teens, 1 tween and the baby)
£2.80 for 2 coffees
£13. On presents ( already had money aside for)
£29 on a dress, some lovely boots and tights, this now leaves me a minus in my clothes money so borrowed from somewhere else and will pay it back over next few weeks.

It's my daughters birthday this weekend so that's gonna be rather spendy but on the plus side I'm single so no valentines presents to buy :)

jadle1977 · 10/02/2014 21:14

Oh and £3.50 on a peppa pig toy for the baby but it came from her Xmas money and she loves it :)

Dosey · 10/02/2014 21:25

NSD here, unless I count the £1 for the toothfairy, but I won't.

Does anybody know how to change their settings on eBay to make selling 5 days, mine seems to be defaulted at 7 days.

Just opened my next statement, I am cross that they charge me £3.75 for the catalogue. I only every buy from their website. I will be phoning to cancel this.

Iamnotanugget · 10/02/2014 21:30

Sold one item on eBay. I have altered the description for the second item and relisted it. If it sells now it'll be after payday now. I've had a chat with dh and for this pay month we're going to buy nothing that's non essential. We have agreed a small budget for entertaining the dc over half term, there's only so much free entertainment you can manage in the rain!

I use a company called Parcel Monkey who search out the cheapest deal on the size and weight of the parcel.

Ellisisland · 11/02/2014 07:29

Ohhelp- I use collect + and drop it off at my local garage. It's a lot cheaper as well. £4.74 to send a parcel rage Royal Mail were going to charge me £8.40 for second class!

That's what I've been doing Smile I didn't think that I actually had that much to sell but once I started I kept going and since January this year I've made £200 so it's definitely worth it !

ilovepicnmix · 11/02/2014 13:27

8.37 in Aldi on fresh stuff but that should do me till Sunday. Got a fuddle at work on Friday so need to think what I can take from what I've got in. Mmmmmm.

Ellisisland · 11/02/2014 15:03

A NSD day today. Have managed to stretch out the last food shop to last 2 weeks but getting down to the bare bones of the freezer this week Smile

Will do good shop on Thursday when DH gets paid and see if I can make that last at least 10 days. Am scouting the threads for cheap snack ideas though as for DS birthday treat this weekend we are taking him to the zoo and I don't want to end up paying a fortune for expensive snacks there.

lilacclery · 11/02/2014 17:06

Had planned to do nsd from tues on but no such luck gas ran out & having spaghetti bolognese for dinner, had bolognese almost cooked so finished it in oven which is electric & will connect gas as soon as hailstones stop so can cook spaghetti!! Can't remember last time we bought gas so quite pleased with that. Recording today's date so will know how long this tank lasts. €30.

Got Car key replaced yesterday €150 and seems to have solved the problem luckily

Going plotting my direct debits on calendar this evening so that I never get caught out with referral fees again.

Thebluedog · 11/02/2014 17:19

Had a NSD day today thanks to the hospital car park meters being broken Grin had to take dd F&R a check up but didn't have to pay the parking - bonus!!

SpangleMaker · 11/02/2014 17:21

Ellisisland - cheap snacks: what about hot dogs? Take rolls & flask of hot water, then add hot dogs when you're ready. I've not tried it but read it on here somewhere and it sounds like a good idea. Also home made muffins with fruit and/or chopped up chocolate. Yum.

I had a frugal meal success yesterday: made a pie with potatoes, carrots and a tin of corned beef I had lurking in the back of the cupboard. DC and DH loved it. I also made pear and chocolate pudding with store cupboard supplies. Tonight's tea is leftover bolognaise - I remembered to put it aside for once before DH scoffed it.

Ellisisland · 11/02/2014 17:30

Thebluedog- love it when that happens Grin

Spangle - good ideas thanks! Am making flapjacks and muffins tonight but the hotdog idea sounds great!

SpottyTeacakes · 11/02/2014 17:33

Nsd!

AmberSpyglass · 11/02/2014 17:40

Nsd

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/02/2014 17:55

NSd no energy to post eBay parcel

Blush
NK5BM3 · 11/02/2014 18:19

NSD.

northender · 11/02/2014 18:49

Struggling to keep up with the thread it's moving so fast.
Impressed with all the NSDs, well done Smile
We seem to have spent quite a bit but its all been essential or expected stuff. My car goes for its MOT and a full service this week. I've budgeted £300 so am hopeful it may come in under that.
I'm definitely noticing we're managing to keep food costs down with some serious meal planning.

OP posts:
FreelanceMama · 11/02/2014 19:45

Terrible day of spending. Getting the care through its MOT ended up costing nearly 400 (good luck northender) and also had to pay DS's swimming for the next six weeks and the water bill. We have used less water than this time last year which I put down to DS being older and not needing to do at least a load of washing every day for him!

TheNightIsDark · 11/02/2014 22:12

Rather spendy few days! Car- £600, bits for car- £100, food shop £35 and school dinner money £4.36.

Have just used tesco value dishwasher tablets and they're bloody brilliant. Better than finish ones!

I signed up to sell usborne books today. I figured whilst on mat leave I might as well give it a go so £38 on that Confused

I work in a nursery though so can casually leave brochures lying around for parents Grin

Dosey · 11/02/2014 22:16

Tried for nsd but had to pay £9 for dds school trip. Still rather spend money on that rather than tat from the poundshop which is what I normally end up doing on my lunch hour. I stayed at my desk today and read what you lot had been up to.
