Where is the best place to sell my old Engagement ring

My husband and I renewed our wedding vows and bought new rings over 10 years ago.
I now have my old engagement and eternity rings in a box under my bed . I will never wear them again so we agreed to sell them for extra cash for holiday etc.
I went to a local we buy anything shop who offered me £60 for the gold value , there are 6 diamonds in all i was not willing to let them go for that , where else can i go?

Well if you google this question, lots of possible answers come up with the option of selling it privately being the most viable if you have the original receipt and so can corroborate its value (ie. sell on eBay, gumtree). I only have experience of selling 'scrap' gold with Hatton Garden Metals which is given a glowing endorsement by Money Saving Expert - I've used it and they are very good (got a crap valuation from a jeweller). You need accurate scales and to know what carat the gold is - the jeweller may have shared this with you, perhaps? It'll have a hallmark in any case. They definitely DO NOT return diamonds (they get ground up apparently). The other sobering fact is that diamond rings are marked up at least 300% and don't hold their value!
My grandmother gave me her 1st engagement ring (she traded up rings) for my 21st and I was really touched. It's very pretty and has been reset in the past so isn't very valuable.

I have to sell 2nd hand jewellery fairly regularly for my job. Despite this I am no expert at specialist places to sell them and just sell them through my local auction house or jewellery shop. Everyone is always shocked at how little it's worth, you get VERY little back for it.
