Does anyone want to join me in a selling stuff/making money challenge?

I have recently moved house & am having DS3 in about 7 weeks. I have loads of stuff that we didn't use in 9 years at the old house that really needs shifting. Also, DH currently doesn't have any work (contractor, it's been about 2 months now & we have run out of money!), so we could do with extra funds before the mortgage goes out on 3rd February.

So, I am challenging myself to make as much in the way of extra funds as I can!

2014 has got off to a fairly positive start. I have listed lots of things on various sites & so far sold 1 toddler shirt & 1 drinks fountain, for £2 & £10 respectively. I also have somebody coming to collect something for £3 tomorrow.

Apart from this, I have gained 60 Nectar points through doing a survey & another 74 for watching ads.

I would like to sell more & do more surveys before the end of the week!

I'll join in. I've sorted out loads of stuff, now I need to decide what needs to be thrown out and what can be sold.
Hope to get some photos taken and put onto selling sites next week.

Good luck. I listed 9 things on Ebay and only one sold for the minimum price. Admittedly they were collect only (I don't have time to post/couriers etc) but it was very disappointing.

Have tried Gumtree and the local FB selling page so guess its Freecycle where everyone will want them for nothing. Rant.

I've moved away from Ebay altogether and use local FB selling pages and Gumtree now...a princely £35 made this weekend alone

How do you get on to local FB selling pages Mum2Fergus? I've heard a few people mention these are the best way to unload kids stuff

Search your town/village name along with some nearby...I'm on 3 local sites but it's my village one I make most from...good luck!

Sold a set of 6 Coca-Cola mugs today for £3

I'm struggling to sell anything.
I've some DVDs/books/toys on FB at the moment but nothing shifting. All priced low.

If you look a few threads back in the Credit Crunch section, I started a post about where to sell stuff. Somebody there made a couple of recommendations about where to sell books. Music magpie also buy DVDs - some only for 30p though, so it depends how little you're willing to take.

Right, went through one box of old uni books & have princely sum of £1.10 in Amazon vouchers & 30p from Fatbrain . Still, it all helps. Just need to go through books now & rub out any underlining so hopefully they won't be rejected.

Also gained 4 Nectar points from Adpoints [clutching at straws emoticon]

Plus - and this is as much a negative as a positive - DH's grandad passed away last year . He left the money to DH's grandma to do with as she wished. She has given each of her grandchildren (they had 8 DC, so must be about 20 GDC) £250. SO while this is very useful & will help with some bills, we rather have DH grandad . It comes at the right time, though.

Not sold anything so far today, or gained any more points etc. However, I have emailed my Dsis for some money she owes me (only £27, but it all helps), which she is going to pay. Have also contacted the council & they are going to let me pay our remaining council tax in 3 instalments rather than 2, which makes it more manageable.

Also, last night DH opened a packet of crisps which were soft, so I am sending those to Walkers, so if I'm lucky they may send a voucher. Similarly, a Tassimo pod of ours did not work, so I have emailed them.

All small things, but hopefully some will make a difference.

Yay, another thing sold for £3

I haven't even got round to taking photos of the stuff I want to sell. Its in the shed now, so I expect it will stay there for the next few years!

It helps if it's cluttering up the place & you're broke feelathome. So, we are trying to clear out the room which will be nursery to DS3, plus I have made £18 in a week, which I tell myself is my mobile phone bill for this month

Sorted through one box of newborn clothes this morning, as DS3 will be our last baby & have a few girls' clothes to sell now (passed on just in case by family, mainly). Have taken photos, now just have to upload photos to sites. Also updated Gumtree (have to bump to top of listings every few days, which takes a while).

I've sold quite a few of my immoderate purchases through a local dress agency and 'made' over £300.00. (I'm too lazy and impatient to do eBay.). I've also started using internet survey and cash-back sites, so would be I interested to know of others' experience of these - it seems too easy. I have also started to send off for free samples, to save on perfume and beauty products (one of my many weaknesses); it is amazing what is out there.

Topcashback is good in that it gives you money back for things you would buy anyway. I also like that it will pay out even if you've only got say £1 owing. Survey sites are good but time-consuming. As said above, I have started watching Nectar ads for Adpoints, usually get about 80 points per week.

Have listed baby girl clothes on FB, for a total of 20 items for about £13. would be nice if any or all of those sell

Well, I haven't sold anything more this weekend but DH has just made £400 He got an email giving him £20 worth of free bets on a Virgin betting site & thought he'd give it a go for a laugh. Played a couple of hours of bingo & roulette & somehow ended up with £400 I was reluctant to believe it at first, but the money is now sitting in our joint account I'm not sure I would do it myself & now that he has used up/withdrawn the whole amount, he is not going to do any more, but it certainly came at the right time

I realise I'm probably talking to myself by now, but it makes me feel good to keep updating & see what progress I've made

I sold quite a few of ds's toys on Gumtree before Christmas but things seem to be quiet at the moment. I have listed a few more things so here's hoping! I have £8 ish cleared in quidco. I have been doing surveys for amazon vouchers. It takes a while will be worth it by next Christmas.
