Cheap Picnic/cold lunch ideas

I've got a group of friends + fussy children coming for lunch on Monday & wanted to get a selection of cold meats, pâté, houmous, breads etc but can't afford the £20+ it costs in sainsburys or waitrose. Has anyone got any cheap supermarket recommendations that still look & taste good? I have a lidl, asda & morrisons within easy reach Grin

Get thee to aldi or lidl, their cold meats and such are much cheaper and just as tasty. Does your lidl have an in store bakery? If so I recommend the olive bread.

Have you got a meat wholesalers nearby? They often have a counter for the public and you could by a whole ham, then put on jacket spuds and a couple of salads?

Plus the Han should give you plenty of leftovers.

Buy a gammon joint, cook it in the slow cooker with brown sugar. Lovely cold. You could do this in the oven as well but soak it for a bit first.
