Home Bargains - Is it cross between TK Maxx and Poundland?

I've seen Home Bargains mentioned on here so many times as a source of good stuff, but don't really know what it is or whether it would be worth me going.

What's it like? Different stuff every week or not? What's worth buying and what's not?

It's kind of like Poundland but not so much TK Maxx, it doesn't do clothes bar the odd kids dressing up outfit.
It's good for toiletries and laundry stuff and my BF swears by their loo paper. It's good for toys, kids party type presents where something would be £10 in toys r us, you might get it there for £5 although this is generally older toys that have been on the market for a while.
I've bought sweets and little bits for party bags from there, lots of chocolate and gift wrap.

But, I always always spend at least £30 on stuff I didn't realise I needed so try to stay away!

Pombears are 99p a pack compared with £1.50 everywhere else

Oh yes and multipacks of Frazzles are 99p too!

I use it for nicky loo roll and alcohol gel for work. I can get big 500g containers that cost £5 plus from podiatry suppliers for a £1.

They are cheap for;

Alur wool/delicates wash. 89p. Lasts ages and is as good as Woolite.
Soda crystals, 65p.
Non branded colour catchers, £1 for 20.
Laundry whitener, £1.
Astonish cleaning materials. Eg their cookware paste is over £3 in Lakeland, 85p in Homebargains.
Non-branded rinse aid. £1 for 500ml and it has the same active ingredients as branded rinse aid.

It helps if you know the supermarket price for the things you want.

Ragu Lasagne sauce is £1.50-£2 in supermarkets, H&B sell it for £1.
Its good for all sorts, some times they only have a product for a few weeks but at a bargain price so buy it when you see it
Things we get every on a regular basis
Ragu Sauce.
Bog roll
Kitchen Roll
Sweets
some biscuits.
Bacon grill ( its 50p cheaper)
Cans of pop all branded mainly 25-30p each.
Dove soap
Head and shoulders shampoo
Flue plus, paracetemol etc

Its well worth the extra few mins whilst out shopping, some of the one offs are excellent

you can get great bargains like a big box of knorr stock pots ( I make soup a lot!) for a £1.

only thing is you go back for more and they never have them again. iTs stuff bought from bankrupt buisness, thats how these places have sprung up.

Is Home Bargains a bit like B&M which is a shop I've only been into recently and found a really bizarre mix of stuff?

If anyone is interested B&M do a double pack of Segafredo Espresso coffee for £1.99.

I loved Home bargains when we went in the summer in holiday, think it was Wrexham. We got torches for 99p which saw us through Chirk tunnel and various other cheap things.

I was like a child in a sweet shop, it was so cheap and so much stuff!

I live on the south caps and we have no Home Bargains, count yourself lucky.....

I love home bargains!! The stuff is usually a lot cheaper, also great for children's presents, bought loads of Christmas presents there also great for party bag bits, cards etc. It's always worth a look

Hi, I think it is quite like B & M, yes.
I love Home Bargains! If you have a look on moneysavingexpert, they have a grabbit section of their forum where people regularly post bargains they have had from Home Bargains.
Like others, I find it good for bog standard party presents. They have great deals sometimes and you can get bits which would normally be much more expensive elsewhere.

Stationary is good.Got the kids nice hard backed spiral bound notebooks for 59p,they had masses of stuff.

B and M and home bargains are very similar, and my local ones are almost next door.

I like pearl drops tooth paste, it costs a fortune in tesco, so when it is in either HB or BandM I stock up.
