Can someone explain how Quidco works please :)

Just away to book a holiday from thomas cook, I see I can get 2.5% cashback using Quidco.
It says something paying then claiming back the money.....Can someone explain this to me (brain dead today!!!)

You need to register and then go to the Quidco website (make sure no Thomas Cook tabs or windows open) and click through Quidco to get to Thomas Cook and book as normal.

That's it really!

One tip though, Quidco takes £5 per year back, I use TopCashBack which works in exactly the same way but you don't have to pay any commission to them. I am just about to get to £500 cashback (over a few years) on stuff that I would have bought anyway! You can also get Amazon vouchers instead of cash and you get 5% more that way.

So have you saved that up to get that amount or could you have got some of that earlier?

I've received it as it is available so its mostly spent now

Topcashback usually gives you 10% more than quidco too, so if quidco is offering 10% they will be offering 10.1% etc.

I keep meaning to use topcashback more but I find the website so busy compared to quidcos white and blue layout.

So how does topcashback earn it's living?

They have an option to make a donation to them when you get your cashback. I have give the odd pence sometimes, I can't imagine that alone keeps them going though!

These sites make money because essentially they are referring custom. They usually get in the region of 20% commission (because they refer over £Xxxx worth of custom per month), and if they give you 10% they still make a juicy cut.

Some sites (like this one, ahem) also use the referral links to make money, but don't share the commission.
