Anyone know when the tax credit helpline actually Answer the phone??
I've been trying to get hold of them for nearly s month about an overpayment
They have overpaid us for over s year despite been told every time our circumstances change
We have now had the same income for over 18 months, which they have been told about at the time
They have still overpaid us
I've been ringing all types of helpline (and gone over my phone usage allowance!) for almost a month
They now seem to think I have£1400 I can pay them
I've now tried 3 times last nite and twice again this morning
I'm sure my phone usage will be over again this mOnth
So any idea when to phone???

Still no answer
Why do they insist on making you go thru 3pages of options and telling you about the bank holiday in Scotland before cutting you off??
An engaged tone would be do much cheaper

I would try the say no website for alternative numbers. Never use 0870/0845s waste of money

I got this number: 0141 303 6032 from the 'Say no to...' site. I rang it at 1 minute to 8 in the morning on two consecutive days last week (peak renewal time) and got through both times with minimal queuing time. My experience is that if you try to ring at any other time you've got a hideous, and expensive, wait or no chance at all of getting through.
