iPad app for shopping budgeting or another way to do this easily

Not really sure if I'm posting in the right place, but I wondered if such an app exists that could track our shopping costs?

I'd like to keep an eye on weekly, monthly costs like how much we spend on food, baby items, wine etc., and also on birthday presents and cards over the year.

How can I best do this?

I use a free application on the PC called MS Money. here It's a very simple bit of money management software that lets you track accounts, record & categorise spending and run off all kinds of reports.

Ergo, that sounds like exactly what I need on a mac.

I've used the PC version for years now. It's quite an old app and I keep looking for a replacement that does the same job but I haven't found one yet. My favourite feature is the 'cashflow' function. If you set up all your Direct Debits/Standing Orders/regular bills properly and include budgets for various categories you can run the cashflow, predict the future, and see exactly when your account is going to dip into the red. I used to get annoying little bank charges every month because I'd forget that a cheque hadn't been cashed or a DD was about to be paid. Now I can see where the squeeze points are & transfer a few quid from the savings account ready. :)

This is a thread I did earlier in the year talking about accounting/budgeting software for the Mac (not necessarily for the iPad) - it might have some good ideas for you.
