Haggling over sky deal?

Not sure if this is in the right section, but we?ve got the full sky package, with phone and broadband and it?s a pretty hefty chunk of money per month. If we ring and haggle are they likely to reduce the cost?

I tried a few weeks ago! I started by asking them to remove the sports package and I also asked about the differences with the entertainment pack and the entertainment extra which I seem to have! After 25 mins on the phone, the outcome was £20 off bill for removing sports from the end of the month! I asked outright what offers they could give me and he said to try next month?! I would go straight in and say you are looking to cancel all packages because you have a cheaper alternative (ie Virgin) and see what they say! Thats what I'll do next month. Rob Dogs. Good luck!

cool, we'll give it a go!

I tried that a couple of months ago armed with prices from Virgin but they wouldnt budge, the only way to reduce price was to cut down on the package therefore not a deal as such

Everyone had said oh they will be desperate to keep your custom etc but it wasnt the case

If you remove the film & the sport, they will eventually offer for you to add them back at reduced price (usually 1/2 price). I used to have everything on sky, I reduced my package to the basics and they are always sending/calling with 1/2 price sports and movies.

We had the whole package until recently, with everything except HDtv. It cost around £65 pcm. DH rang them & said we wanted to cancel sports & movies & possibly move to Virgin. We have cancelled those 2 things & paid just about £8 total for the 1st month, then about £18 pcm from then! Huge difference.

We called about 2 months ago and said that we really loved being with Sky and didn't want to move providers but we were fed up of constantly seeing amazing offers to attract new customers when we had been loyal customers for a long time and were never given any deals to award our loyalty. They immediately knocked 25% off our bill. Several other relatives have phoned up since and all been given the same offer. It's worth a try!! Good luck!!

We called and said we couldn't afford to pay the bill. 40 minutes later we had the top package reduced from £65 to £29 a month for 12 months and didn't lose any channels. When the deal runs out we will prob get freeview Smile

A couple of work colleagues have rung in and given notice to cancel. They sweated it out until the last day when Sky rang back offering full package at heavily discounted rate. I wouldn't date risk that method.

I once rang saying I had to cut back as I was struggling with my finances. We ended up with the same package but 25% of the monthly bill.

It's always worth a gamble.

I phone and cancelled the lot and by the second month without sky I had a call offering me the full package free of charge for the next 6 months, and was also told to haggle when the 6 months is up to get a good deal!
