I used to be addicted to fizzy drinks and cola in particular. Lately I was drinking it with great guilty as I worried about my teeth and healthy. One day I decided to buy Sainsbury's cola and I didn't see much difference in taste. I than noticed I wouldn't drink as much because the name and logo Coca-cola was absent. So far I've tried waitrose's cola and Asda's cola and they all go flat before I finished it and it is not to do with the taste but the brand psychological effect...

Great... and what you save on buying it, you can spend at the dentist. :)

Sainsbury's cola was the closest I ever found to coke. The tesco's diet coke tastes minging

yes, sainsbury's is the best so far, even beating waitrose's...I am now trying more and more supermarkets own brands in a variety of items...
Any good finding anyone? Tips?

Tips... why not drink water instead? Free out of the tap & doesn't pile on the calories or rot your teeth.

I hear you complexo! I'm totally addicted to coke too but am managing to limit it to one can a day at the mo. I might give sainsburys own brand a go, thanks for the tip. Altho when theres a special offer on, coke is affordable even on my tight budget. Anyway there are far worse addictions out there that would cost me much more healthwise and financially, so I dont feel too bad about it

But what I'm trying to say is that I totally lost the desire to open a can of coke when I see it on the advertisement, other people drinking it or in the fridge of the corner shop. Since I started buying the cheap ones I never touched the real thing again. And when I'm drinking the other stuff I quickly switch for something else or stop because I don't get the same buzz.

You sound addicted

allgoodindahood · 05/06/2012 09:00

So you think its the brand/packaging you were addicted to, rather than the taste?

complexo · 05/06/2012 21:03

I think I was addicted to the taste and the branding and packaging made it worse...I remember when I was a child at primary in my home country, the only trip the school ever done was to a Coca Cola factory where we learn't everything about Coca cola and could drink as much as we wanted....I know I know CRAZY!!!!
Plus when Fanta launched other flavours we had about a month of free fanta at school during lunch time...Madness.
So I am sure that for this reason the brand and package played a bug part in my addction, but now when I fancy coca cola, I just take a sip of the fake one and I don't want it anymore and usually is already going flat anyway as I am drinking less and less...

I prefer Aldi cola zero to coke zero - yes it goes flat quicker but hopefully its got less rubbish in it

Dont buy the stuff, just high juice squash very watered down.
