Is there a way to get around the Costco 'employment groups' membership rules?

Thats it really. I sometimes go with a friend and get in on her card but when i looked into getting my own membership i discovered you have to be employed within certain jobs sectors or have certain qualifications!

Does anyone know if you have to provide proof? Someone told me that in the US you can get someone to buy you a gift voucher and you can go in that way but i'm not sure if they do gift cards over here.

IIRC, I had the option to add someone to mine, I nominated a friend who hasn't even bothered to start her membership.
Can your friend do that for you?

You do have to provide proof such as a pay slip

You do need proof but for a small extra fee your friend can add you to her membership (you don't need to 'qualify' yourself), and after you've been on someone else's member ship for two years you qualify for your own.

I added my sister to my membership even though she qualifies in her own right. We split the cost of the total membership so we both save even more.

I got my card through a stand in my local shopping centre-they were signing people up and couldn't give a Jeff about my employment-just told me to put down a business name...I made one up...had it 3 y and never a problem
