Imagine having to leave cancer untreated because you can't afford the surgery.

I know. Or choosing whether to eat or pay for petrol to get to work.......

I've recently immigrated to Canada and although things are better here than in the US, there are a lot of things I realise now that I took for granted in England that I no longer have access to.

You hear some stories about how bad some have it, but this is just like, WOW

It's an eye opener. So sad.

TheJoyful: "99%" comes from the idea that 1% of Americans hold anywhere from 37-42% (depending on the source) of the wealth in the US.

There is also a We Are the 53% movement (the53.tumblr.com); 53% is made up of the people in America who actually pay towards taxes i.e. 1% of Americans pay 37% of taxes and approx 46% pay nothing at all in taxes and/or get money from the government (this link explains more), so the 53% is those who make up the rest of the tax income the government receives.
